A group of protesters walked the streets of denison, iowa today. At the heart of the protest are lewd images allegedly created on a computer by t t citys police chief. sheila ktivs tommie clark has the story. Indirectly involved with the matter, says there was information on the chiefs computer that departments shared drive. The mayor investigated the allegations that were raised by ohl and determined that disciplinary action was appropriate with regard to the chief. He administred that discipline in accordance with the policy of the city and the city considers this matter closed, said denison City Attorney, franck. The City Attorney cant say what that disciplinary action was. Mayor oncamera due to legal liabilities, but he said he believes the city used correct protocol and he does not agree with what the chiefofpolicicdid. But, ohl says emswiler was written up. He says thats not enough and protesters agree. Senior Patrol Officer Bradley Wendt took around 50 pictures that he atttributes to emswiler to the city. They wanted someone to take it to the mayor or city countil and they coundt find anybody to do that so they asked me to do that so i did it for them. Reporter and what compelled you to do that . Its just the right Police Department senior Patrol Officer, Bradley Wendt. Wendt says it wasnt easy. Its hard enough to come rward with something about your boss and sk your career, let alone not having somethingone about it, said denison Police Department senior Patrol Officer, Bradley Wendt. Ohl says he feels the matter was swept under the rug and thats one reason why he decided to organize the protest. A sioux city man is behind bars, tonight, accused of stabbing another man to death. Sioux city police say 47 yearold Elias Wanatee stabbed 50yearold vernon mace around two am near west first and turner streets. Mace was taken to sioux citys Mercy Medical center where he died from several stab wounds. Family members say wanatee isis married to maces niece. They were shocked by maces death. Hes an amazing guy, said verna hoffman, maces daughter. He helped everybody. Im pretty sure he this is wrong. Sioux city police say the stabbing happened during a fight. Wanatee, has an extensive criminal record. He served more than 20 years in prison for the murder of a man outside of a sioux city bar in 1990 in 2014, wanatee was wanted by the u. S. Marshal service for violating his parole for 2nddegree murder. Then in october of last year, wantatee was charged with assualt while displaying a dangerous weapon. He was accused of pulling out a machetetype knife during a disturbance at the Super Walmart on floyd boulevard in sioux city. A man wanted for attempted murder in sac county, iowa, has been captured. Des moines tv station, kcci tv, says officers with the fort dodge Police Department got a tip that 36yearold jeremy werenburg was at the Walmart Store e fort dodge, this afternoon. The first officer on the scene tried to handcuff werneburg, but the suspect fought back. The officer suffered a knee his taser to control werneburg. Werneburg has been on the run since sunday night. A Sergeant Bluff man will spend 60 days in jail for headbutting his 13yearold son. 48yearold bradady graff was also ordered to pay 410 dollars in restitution. State lawmakers take steps to make medical marijuana legal in iowa. Well detiail the compromise that lawmakers came up with, matt for the first time, it would be legal to manufacture and dispense cannabis oil in iowa, under a compromised bill crafted by lawmakers at the iowa statehouse. sheila the compromise would also mean more iowans could get access to the drug. Under the bill, cannabis oil could be used to treat people with multiple sclerosis and cancer with a limited life expectancy, as well as, some forms of epilepsy, as now allowed.
