Mike . Reporter the Sheriffs Department served a search warrant after 14 patients were left abandoned after three days. It was going to be longer than that if there was not a medical call. They responded to a medical call yesterday and paramedics noticed that most of the staff was gone. There is just 1 00 and two other staff members. The department of social Services Also put a note on the door. Manyelderly patients abandoned and left without care after staff at an assisted living facility walk off the job without notifying patients family members. I think that they should be accounted for. There are left without proper care. There are laws to protect the patients. I think that they should be held accountable. Reporter the remaining patients were taken to hospital but the department of social services saying that they thought that there is a history of concern with this facility. In a complaint filed this week they also did not perform criminal background checks for the employees. Even patience not receiving their medication. This is an Ongoing Investigation the Sheriffs Department says that elder abuse charges could be filed. Thank you, mike pelton. An ice agent and a Roseville Police officer were shot while trying to arrest a wanted parolee friday night. This is a newly released photo of the 32yearold suspect sammy duran. After a long standoff with police, he surrendered early saturday morning. Duran is now being held at the Placer County jail. Police arent releasing much about duran or how events unfolded. One resident spoke with kron4 about the chaotic scene she saw just two doors down from her house. I saw that somebody was shot twice in the year ran off running. It became very clear that he was intent on getting away and even murdering the officer that stood and his way. Some roseville residents are still waiting to return to their homes after the friday night standoff. Officials are saying the Roseville Police officer and federal agent who weres shot remained hospitalized saturday. Authorities say duran is being held on a parole violation, and will be charged with attempted murder. A singlestory duplex fire in petaluma causes 150 thousand dollars in damage. The fire last night began in the garage of the duplex at 203 stokes court. A livermore man is in custody on child pornography charges. Fortyfour year old Jason Sherman was arrested thursday. Livermore police say they seized his computer after finding over seventy images of alleged child pornography. The California Department of social services revoked the license for Valley Springs manor in Castro Valley on thursday. A janitor and cook were found caring for 14 residents. The patients were moved to hospitals and nother locations. Sheriffs officials launched an investigation that could result in elderly abuse charges. Two other facilities in oakland and modesto under the same ownership also had their licenses revoked. State Officials Say there is a long list of violations dating back to 2008. They are seeking to permanently revoke the licenses for all three facilities. The also want to to prohibit the owners from further employment or contact with any facility licensed by the services. We have a reporter at the report at 9 00. This mass of driveby shooting in vallejo. There were going to vallejo. At around 11 00 p. M. Last night a white s u v with tinted windows drove by and opened fire. One victim died on the scene and three others had bullet wounds. Others are arrived at local hospitals. Jeff pierce reports on a Non Profit Group that refurbished a Richmond Playground that had long been neglected. Reporter hundreds of residents of the belden woods neighborhood in richmond came out to totally refurbish a city park plagued by neglect. This park was an old battered rundown and forgotten about park that kids would play in with different types of debris, bottles and you know what. Reporter with the help of kaboom, a non profit that helps communities build play grounds and the generous funding of an infant shoe manufacturer things began to coalesce to bring a sparkling park to the neighborhood. We wanted to make one of our dreams come true and that was to build a playground. Reporter but it began months ago when one nieghbor was challenged to become a neighborhood advocate. And i knock a lot of doors on the top of the door and they respond to me. They fought really hard door to door to make sure that their community would have a place to play. Reporter that place to play will have new picnic tables, shiny new playground equipment, and a childrens sand box. The Carpenters Union was one of several groups to contribute their skills. Two danville siblings killed by a drunk driver a decade ago are being honored in a memorial sunday. 10yearold troy pack and his sister. 7yearold alana were riding their scooter and bicycle alongside their mother when it happened. The siblings were killed when an impaired driver drove up onto the curb and struck the children. Police say the driver, Jimena Barreto had consumed alcohol and prescription drugs that night. Barreto is serving a 30 year sentence for Second Degree murder. Since the crash. Troy and alanas parents have lobbied against drunk driving through their troy and alana pack foundation. New this morning Santa Rosa Police cite seven drivers in a d u i and drivers license checkpoint saturday night. Police screened nearly 400 cars and arrested one suspect in connection with d u i. One of seven district stations to shutdown since 2011. And, in 2011. District chief daryl louder says the average Response Time for the first crew to arrive on scene was about 8 minutes and 30 seconds. But since the closure of station 87. Louder says the average Response Time has skyrocketted to about 10 minutes and 30 seconds. A two minute increase. In some extreme cases, louder says the first crew hasnt arrived until more then 12 minutes after a call fire Marshall Lewis broshard adds that it takes on average more than 23 minutes to assemble a first alarm response. More than 10 minutes above the national Fire Protection districts recommendation. Since 2011, the Fire Protection district has been reduced from 30 3 person crews to 23 3person crews. But the fire marshall says help could be on the way. The Fire Protection district applied for a federal grant in august. Which if approved. Owners of a fremont apartment complex are accused of discriminating against families with children. The U S Justice Department filed the lawsuit friday. It alleges that the owners and staff of woodland Garden Apartments enforced a policy that prohibited children from playing outside in common grassy areas. Five families filed complaints about the complex. And those complaints led to the lawsuit. Money may be awarded to those harmed by the policy. The mother of the teenager accused of killing his teacher says she is heartbroken over the death of the massachusets educator. The lawyer for 14yearold Phillip Chism says that his mother is asking for prayers for the family of Danvers High School teacher colleen ritzer. Chisms mother is struggling to understand what happened the day ritzer was killed. The fourteen year old is reported to have killed his teacher inside a School Bathroom and then left her body in the woods behind his school. Chism was arrested early wednesday. Reporter the Sheriffs Department issued a search warrant last evening. They say that 14 patients were abandoned for the last three days. These 14 patients have been taken to the hospital. They only discovered this situation as paramedics responded to a medical call yesterday afternoon. They noticed that something was wrong. That was when only one cook and to janitors remained. However, they still found that the 14 patients had to fend for themselves. I was surprised because i have not seen any anything wrong. And what i saw the cops. And i thought that this is crazy. Everything was going ok for at least eight years and then i heard that they were leaving these people. Reporter the representative of the department of social services is that they thought they would get care over the weekend. Also there is a history of concerns of allegations they did not perform background checks on the employees and also that patients did not receive medication. This documentation has been included with the report. They are looking to permanently revoke the swiss license and they are trying to permanently revoked access the owners license. The siblings were killed when an impaired driver drove up onto the curb and struck the children. Police say the driver, Jimena Barreto had consumed alcohol and prescription drugs that night. Louder says the average Response Time has skyrocketted to about 10 minutes and 30 seconds. A two minute increase. In some extreme cases, louder says the first crew hasnt arrived until more then 12 minutes after a call fire Marshall Lewis broshard adds that it takes on average more than 23 minutes to assemble a first alarm response.
