Fire crews responded to reports of heavy smoke and flames coming from an Apartment Building on the 35hundred block of brighton avenue. The flames were under control within a half hour. And, residents credit fire crews for their quick response. Neighbors reported hearing what sounded like an explosion coming from the building, shortly before it caught fire. It was a big boom. The whole building shook and i live across the street from them, but it just at first, it was like a big pressure coming out, you can feel this a long one, and the next thing you know, it was just a big boom . No official word on what caused the loud boom. The Fire Department say, s it appears the fire started on the bottom floor of the building, and made its way up to the top floor. No injuries were reported. The cause is still under investigation. An 11 year old is recovering tonight. After being shot in the chest this afternoon in antioch. It happened just after 11 this morning. Witnesses say 11 year old gregory kent ran to his aunts home at the riverton place apartments. To tell her he had been shot. Police have said anything about the circumstances of the shooting. But those in the area say he was shot by another youngster. At this point in the investigation. No arrests have been made.
