murder weapon. he drove by this area. it is a likely spot where he could have ditched the gun. officials say goh has not been helpful in helping them to find the weapon. while that was going on, one goh went before a judge, officially charged today with seven counts of murder, three counts of attempted murder, and a special circumstance makes him eligible for the death penalty if convicted. our team coverage begins with kron4's kate thompson who explains what goh is suspected of doing after the shooting. >> reporter: for the first time, police are saying today one goh who fled the scene of the shooting to a safe-way, asked to use the phone at the supermarket and call a family member. >> after he was done with the phone call, that clerk notified the private security company that was patrolling that shopping center. >> reporter: new information about goh's weapon, a .45-caliber gun. he packed a lot of ammunition, four fully loaded magazine, and he fired almost all the rounds. this is the woman, the director of nursing at oikos, who was the university of one goh's deadly rampage. she was not at the school when the shooting happened, but goh was targeting her because she refused to give him a refund on his tuwhigz he dropped -- tuition when he dropped out. jr stone has the latest from the district attorney's office on the charges goh will be facing. >> reporter: one goh, shooting massacre suspect behind bars, and now facing several charges. >> we've alleged seven counts of murder, three counts of attempted murder with premed tigz clauses. >> reporter: -- premedication clauses. >> in the amount of time anyone who has been around for a while cannot recall a crime scene such as this, where someonent in and essentially executed seven people and tried to execute three more. >> reporter: the shooting monday could not have been predicted. >> he was a loner and what some might call a loser, but he didn't exhibit any behaviors that we're aware of that would have alerted anyone that would commit such a murderous rampage. >> reporter: whether or not her office will seek the death penalty, o'malley says that decision will be made after the preliminary hearing. >> the decision regarding whether or not to seek the death penalty in this case will be made following the process which is followed by my office and every case in which there are special circumstances alleged. >> reporter: outside of oikos university, you can see a memorial that has been set up in memory of those who tragically lost their life. one goh will be back in court on april 30th a few weeks from now to enter a plea in this case. >> family member s of the seven victims have been making funeral arrangements. tonight there was a memorial service for lydia simm. her friends and family are coping with the loss. >> reporter: lydia was just 21 years old when her life was ripped away on monday. dozens of people dressed in black attended a service for her at the hayward korean baptist church. flower arrangements like this one were brought in for the service. david grew up with sim and says it's difficult to understand this loss. >> i've been trying about it. especially the parents are taking it really hard. we're speechless. >> reporter: friends say she was very involved in her church and had dreams to become a doctor. >> she was ambitious. and like her brother said, she was independent and she never took no for an answer. >> reporter: joyce cho watched sim grow up. she says all they wanted was a better life for their children. >> we wanted to raise our children in here as well. budia is missed by coworkers at sfo, where he worked the night shift as a janitor. he was hoping to become a custodial supervisor. there are no simple words to properly convey the sense of loss and heart ache. it has been fairly windy throughout the evening. but winds are starting to die down in some spots. still fairly breezy in half moon bay. 20-mile an hour winds there. calmer conditions through much of the bay area. and that's going to lead to very chilly conditions through the overnight hours. right now, temperatures are mainly sitting in the 40s. we're 44 in fairfield, 42 in santa rosa. warmer closer to the shore line. temperatures drop think into the 30s. a frost advisory issued for the north bay valleyless and mountains -- valleys and mountains until 8:00 tomorrow morning. it's really moving around with that wind in the hills right now. but the binneds will die -- but the winds will die down in the overnight hours. we're waiting an hour or two for winds to die down, and temperatures will just drop like a rock. we do expect that to happen. cold conditions out the door tomorrow. in the afternoon, the winds will pick right back up. but we have warming on tap for the weekend. details coming up. yahoo announces massive layoffs. coming up in my tech report, how this will affect the yahoo services you use like e-mail, news, search, and fantasy football later in this broadcast, on the eve of the masters, and rain washed away a major event today. the giants cut down their roster. and the warfiors trying to -- warriors trying to go out with a little pride. yahoo announced major layoffs today, and it is the sixth round in the last four years for the struggling company. this could affect yahoo users. >> reporter: these layoffs will not affect the most popular yahoo services any time soon. e-mail, search, news, and fantasy football will not change. it will not do anything to scare off its 7 hundred million users. the products that draw in eyeballs are their most important and coveted assets. let's break down the numbers of today's news. yahoo is laying off 2,000 people. this lowers them to around 12,000 employees. they cut roughly 14% of their company. through the layoffs, yahoo expects to save around $375 million a year. according to scott thompson, ceo, these layoffs are an important next step toward a bold newia hoar, smaller, nibbler -- yahoo. a former paypal executive is new, he just took over the reins. so far he is not doing a good job to resurrect yahoo. and they're so bad off, there may be nothing that can be done. >> the layoffers aren't deep enough -- the layoffs aren't deep enough or fast enough. and he has articulated a comprehensive strategy with regard to the turnaround, so they fall into a kind of strategic vacuum. this looks like somebody that has never done this before or hasn't learned how to do this right. and given he's already a fish out of water, i don't think this bodes well for yahoo. the market they're in which is digical media, the another -- digital media, the other company like them, aol, is also on the ropes. and they did a better job of bringing in talent with the huffington post. yet they didn't fix the problem. so is there a market for either firm? a san jose woman is facing a dui charge after she crashed her car into a house that caused a gas leak. victoria be there. he has been denied parole 11 times now. he was convicted of the 1969 killings of sharon tate and six others by a group of his followers. prosecutors said it was part of an attempt to start a race war. a narrow victory for an oakland school. the american indian charter school in oakland's china town has the highest test scores in oakland. and it's second-best among public middle schools in california. but the oakland unified school district superintendent wanted it closed because of ongoing investigations into the school irregularities. tonight the school board voted 4-3 against that recommendation. some board members say instead of shutting down one of the best schools in oakland, the district and other local schools should learn from it. >> they're one of the highest if not the highest performing middle schools in high schools in the state of california. they have a perfect attendance rate. they've done extremely well on all their sats. and they have 100% placement in the college universities from the yales, cornells, and berkeleys. >> last year , the school scored 990 out of a possible 1,000 points. a lot of parents say the district should not punish the students for the adults' mistakes. it remains breezy close to the coastline with 26-mile an hour wind gusts in half moon bay. wind gusts have calmed down the other portions of the bay area. it's going to lead to a chilly night tonight. we do have clear skies over the bay area. colder air from last night's storm. you can see some more cloud cover and snow showers approaching the sierra region. that's going to clip the bay area tomorrow. we'll talk more about that in just a minute. let's talk about the pressing issue. out the door tomorrow morning, it's going to be cold. a frost advisory for the north bay and the mountains until 8:00 tomorrow morning . temperatures will be at or close to freezing. you're going to see the frosty which i understand chill out the door tomorrow. then bundle up. look at these temperatures . 30 degrees in napa, 31 in santa rosa. quite cold in livermore and pleasanton at 34 degrees. right now, half moon bay at 34 degrees because i see the winds dying down there overnight. but if the winds stay up long enough, that temperature is not going to get that low. it will be in the upper 30s or the low 40s if the winds stay up all night in that location. 36 in oakland, 39 in fremont. 39 in san jose. temperatures not rebounding all that well into tomorrow afternoon. we'll see just below 50s along the coastline where winds are expected to pick up again. it'll be another blustery cool day. same thing for the bay shores in the low 50s. a few low 60s out there tomorrow afternoon. 61 in nap a. upon let's get a look at that mention of the showers moving into the lake tahoe region. tomorrow morning, clear skies, but a little bit of instability. there is it the possibility of a pop-up thunderstorm. 2:00, a little bit of rain nearing fairfield moving over the region into the 3:00 hour. this is going to be a slight chance of a shower. but the more likely scenario with a little bit of cloud cover. the puffy clouds developing over the hills and delta. a look at your extended forecast. it'll be cool and breezy again tomorrow but improving conditions into the weekend. temperatures warming on friday, more on saturday. your easter sunday looks pretty mild. cloud cover though through the afternoon. a slight chance of showers in the evening. but mostly we'll just see the increasing cloud cover. san francisco and the giants are calling it a home run. this thing. a series of development projects in the mission bay area that will be called mission rock. it's just going to be south of at&t park. you see the paup right there. this is the area we're talking about. the team will convert this big parking lot and pier 48 into restaurants, shops, homes, we have artists' rendering of what the area might look like. the city and giants' owners seem eager to work out a deal. we're talking about 9,000 construction jobs, another 7,000 permanent on-site jobs. eventually people will live here, work here, shop here, spend money here. the giants love gold dust lounge has been denied landmark status. supporters of the bar were hoping they could protect it. the city's historic preservation commission says it does not qualify as an historic landmark.
