Looking at this thing shutdown the second lane. This lane closure doesnt start immediately at the toll plaza you have to go down a few miles into the bridge to where the lane shuts down. So traffic is moving. On a nightly basis through saturday 2 westbound lanes stcloes close down from 7 00 at night until 5 00 in the morning. Those lanes will shutdown for the last time saturday night. They hope to have the final repairs done by 5 00 saturday morning. This is what it looked like as crews began closing the lanes down earlier. Theyve waited almost a month to perform these repairs. Its not ang easy project. A lot of planning going into this since june 15th. Thats when a hole opened up just before the highrise section of the bridge. A metal plate has been covering the hole ever since. But now crews will make the permanent fix concerning for drivers who say the states infrastructure is in trouble. Theres a number of problems we have. An infrastructure issue, and then you have a pothole thats no big deal and fairly easy in the scheme of things to repair, it becomes a huge problem. Then it highlights to me and others that weve really got to deal with bigger issues than just an inconvenience of a couple of days to repair a pothole. Reporter so if all goes as planned their hoping to have all of these repairs done by sunday morning just in time to reopen all the lanes for the monday morning commute. Live on the san mateo bridge. Two suspects are now in custody and this comes after an armored car heist in windsor. It ended with a guard getting shot. The suspects were then spot and had a massive hours long search took place. Just two hours ago we learned the second suspect on the loose has also been taken into custody. This is video of that arrest. Now kron4s j. R. Stone is live tonight but right now the story. Reporter this is the area of the Mobile Home Park where swat team members found a second buncke robbery suspect hiding in the bushes Second Bank Robbery suspect hiding in the bushes. The first suspect was caught here after investigators say he opened fire on at least one officer who was in his car. The bank robbery happened early tuesday afternoon 20 miles away in the city of windsor. One that left an armored car guard shot. As for tuesdays search it closed the area for hours. As for why it took so long. Suspect was presumed to be armed and dangerous. They did shoot rounds at the bank robbery they had earlier. I believe they actually hit somebody in sonoma. Reporter witnesses are just happy that Law Enforcement captured both suspect. All day long, many, many hours. All the helicopters flying over then they just stayed overhead. Then the swat team showed up. 20 or 30 people went around that way and caught him right across the river right here. That was j. R. Stone reporting. And the shelter in place had been in effect is now canceled. And to another top story, once again possible gun fire on an east bay freeway. The reports of the shooting happened on interstate 80. And tonight the mayor of herkul es confirmed that authorities were investigating a possible shooting along westbound interstate 80. We reached out to the california Highway Patrol and they confirmed an investigation was on going. We drove along interstate 80 several items and saw no signs of an several times and sa now signs of an investigation. Its unclear if anything happened. The mayor told kron 44 hes fu y qs in june he met with state officials in sacramento to discuss the shootings. But he says that so far there hasnt been any follow up action. Im asking for the states help on this. And we had that sit down. The state acknowledged that they are going to do something about it. Its been a month, and nothings occurred. Eight guns stolen from the pawn shochlt six have been recovered. Also arrested 21yearold maleek bridgewater. And a 13yearold boy could also be involved. Baton rouge chief says this team is now searching for another suspect and the two guns that were stolen and unaccounted for. A family was out fishing and discovered the body of a girl. Parks spokeswoman said the woman was a resident for six months before turning up dead. Police are not releasing the identity of the woman. Her death being investigated as a homicide. We also have new details on a 65yearold woman found dead in her palo alto home. On thursday night the victim was found in her home by a Family Member who had been looking for her. Detectives are now investigating her relationships with Business Associates and others. Police say there are still no strong leads. Tonight a son whose mother was kidnapped for a ran some is pleading for help. She went missing last month in vallejo. There is still no sign of her tonight. We were there today when the victims son described getting the Text Messages demanding ran some money. It doesnt make sense. I dont know why wed be targeted. Her son is speaking publicly for the First Time Since his mother went missing. She was last seen at a market near her vallejo home. The next day her son received a text message demanding 60,000 ran some from someone claiming they kidnapped his mom. I thought it was a joke. I texted back, i thought it was a joke. I didnt think it was real. He says he began to realize that the kidnappers were serious when he tried reaching his mother on the phone. I wasnt getting an answer from her. And her phone went straight to voice mail. Heres a photo of the kidnapped woman with her dog rocky. Rocky was found dead in her home. The dog was real protective of her. If the dog didnt recognize me when i came up to the house it would yap, yap. Three suspects were arrested. Investigators say an i acquaintance of the family is the primary suspect. A close family friend tells us he is a former boyfriend of the victims daughter who you see here in this photo with her mom. Although these suspects are in custody for the alleged kidnapping she remains missing. Her son if someone is holding her against her will. Id tell them give it up. Let me mom go. Tonight a father and son who drowned in a pleasanton lake have been identified. 33yearold juan estrada and juan Estrada Espinosa drowned after falling out of a raft. This is video from yesterday as crews searched the lake for their bodies. Several onlookers jumped in to try and save them. Their efforts were unsuccessful. The Park District says the men did not know how to swim and they were not wearing life jackets. Happening now police are looking for the dispickable criminal who shot a cat with a bow and arrow. We have the photo showing the disturbing after math of the crime. Police say this is not the first time that a cat has been so targeted recently. Temporarily named bow after being shot with a bow and arrow. This cat is still recovering. Its really disturbing. The feline was left for dead in the tree line spring town neighborhood. Its a Security Guard that patrols a bay area mall but it may have injured a toddler. Today kron4 spoke with the company that made the robots. We heard within a few minutes of the incident and the Immediate Reaction was to get the machine stopped and begin a investigation. Taking no chances they immediately reached out to the family involved in the incident. Im a parent, i have three kids. The thought of potentially hurting somebody is horrifying. My first thought goes out to the mother and the child and wanting to make sure theyre okay. We want her to come to the office we want to show her the technology and explain how the features are supposed to work and give her the opportunity to stand before us and let us apologize. At the very minimum shes owed an apology. The incident took place here at the stanford Shopping Center where one of the robots was on patrol for about a year now. It uses cameras and microphones to scour the area and report suspicious behavior. Its quite an attraction here. On youtube hundreds of people posted videos. I talked to spokespeople and they emailed me this statement saying the safety of our shoppers is our highest priority. We are investigating this thoroughly. As you can see the robot is pretty big and intimidating. Its 5 feet tall, 300 pounds. So it could have the potential to injure children and adults. The k5 units have all kinds of sensors to avoid objects and people. Theyre looking into how the child circumvented the sensors. Over 25,000 miles and this is the first reported such incident. Also tonight at 10 00 were tracking some pretty wild firth several parts of the wild weather in several parts of the country. Close calls with a tornado and a Lightning Strike. We have to worry about earthquakes maybe but not this. A lot of the country midwest, east coast has been so hot and it fuse the conditions for tornado fuels the conditions for tornados and so much rain. This was the roadway in michigan it crumbled after so much rain and tornados created a stream through what used to be a roadway. Also a tornado caught on camera in minnesota. We freaked out because we were trying to get my brothers truck going. Here it goes. Here it goes. Holy cow. Ill say. Thats one of at least four tornados in central minnesota. They destroyed two homes, damaged at least a dozen others. A nursing home had to be evacuated after its roof was ripped off. Fortunately no reports of injuries. And in connecticut, two people, out walking when bam, Lightning Strikes right near l them. That big flash, then you see the two people fall to the ground and a tree in the middle of the screen comes flying down. Police say the man and woman suffered whats known as an Energy Transfer from the Lightning Strike whit hit the tree. The two people they say were trying to get out of the way of the storm and get home at the time. They obviously didnt make it. Here it is again. Talk about scary. The Berkeley City Council voting on a resolution that would close the only emergency room in the city. They want to close the Medical Center by the year 2030.
