Per hour when the driver attempted to merge, he hit another car and hit a second vehicle. That accident sent him crashing through the Center Divider. The driver of a big rig was taken to hospital. The other people in the other two cars were not injured. Theyre working to clear the scene. The eastbound lanes may be impacted within another two hours. It is in the way of the shot. When you see this, the back up what all the lights. It really went to mile. The camera shows a short distance. With the traffic maps you can see the extent of the delays. We are looking at eastbound, the non commute direction. There is another accident and that is why it is slow along this corridor. 67 minutes for drive time. 680 in the southbound direction is backed up into a benicia across the bridge coming down to martinez. This stretch of 680 into pleasant. A lot of people are using this as an alternate route and that highway 4 has to deal with more traffic as well. You can expect this entire corridor to be affected by this accident. And again is not likely to clear any time soon. If you are just leaving the house you can expect rain from santa rosa to about san mateo. South of that we are dealing with moderate to heavy showers. You can see portions of highway one, interstate 280 has moderate rain. Lets take you down to the south, moderate rain for highway 1 01 and it really will not let up in downtown san jose approach in cupertino but it is not bad in the east. We are catching a dry breaks in concord but in walnut creek through san ramon. Take a look at oakland is not too bad on 88580 into the Macarthur Mayes. We are just filled with sprinkles crossing the bay bridge. In San Francisco although we are picking the moderate rain right around 19 ave this will continue east so it may impact San Francisco more. In the north, the rain is spotty and you can see they have a dry breaks between petaluma and a bottle. For the most part light rain is still coming down. In terms of the rainfall totals we have seen over half an inch for oakland and a quarter of an inch for hayward. We have seen more in the north bay and especially for the higher elevations. Looks like this moderate brand work its way east and about the next 20 minutes. Here is a look at the snow totals. By 3 00 p. M. Driving up to tahoe about 4 in. And about half an inch for the tall area. It looks like it will run both for the evening hours as we head into tomorrow these are not the totals but over 80 in. For lake tahoe and again we have another sto in for a lake y there will be a another storm approaching us for the weekend. We are looking at slow traffic all around the bay and a major hotspots that is on the east shore freeway that is affecting the traffic. The nimitz freeway, south bound 580 west and 680 south for the small grave, look at one on one course, this drive time is at 39 to 43 minutes. It should be about half that for the morning commute. 85 is jammed up out towards cupertino and the guadalupe parkway. Mid peninsula traffic is not as bad despite earlier r occurring problems on this bridge. The ride to the north, 1 01 south is slower through southern iran. We continue to monitor big delays through alameda and contra costa county. This is all in accounts when an accident that occurred at 5 30 a. M. This morning. A big rigs hamper the Center Divider after colliding with cars. It went to the Center Divider and most of the westbound lanes are shut down. For what all the eastbound lanes were backed up. Look at the back of that reaches all the way to a vallejo. Mike pelton has been on the scene. Mike, you pointed out that one of the big hers or whether or not it would be able to get this repaired but what else have you learned . The chp stated that it seems that the big rig was going westbound and about 5 30 a. M. It attempted to merge and that is when it hit a car and loss control and hit a another car before it crashed through the Center Divider. The driver has minor injuries and the other two drivers were not injured. Thankfully, it did not collide with anyone in the eastbound lane. Traffic is slowly making its way eastbound. Hopefully they can reopen all of these lanes in the next 15 to 20 minutes although at this point maybe its too hopeful. It looks like theyre trying to back this truck up on a flatbed. They are going to put this on the flat bed. They do have to turn this truck or around. They have to remove the salt the freeway at some point.
