D. Nelson, hes the spokesman for the Alameda County Police Department. Heres what he said. Its very clear, theres a murder suicide, no threat to the community or neighborhood, unfortunately a very tragic incident that occurred on christmas, were working through not so much to find out what happened, but why it happened. You can imagine the family that has to now live with this on Christmas Day, you can imagine their heart break. Apparently there were other family members inside at the time. We talked to family members who got the phone call, they live in hollister, they were here, i talked to the sister, she says her sister, the victim was a 36yearold woman, it appears they were having some marital issues, i asked them, was there any indication that Something Like this would happen, they said we realize they were having some issues, but nothing like this that would cause a murder suicide. It appears that everybody else in the house, including an 19yearold niece that yes, theres always a threat whenever theres a gun involved but it looks he was not going after the 19yearold one, just the wife. We have learned that it was a man and woman, husband and wife. I got a chance to talk to family members. They say the two were having some marital issues, that they have four kids. It was one of the kids, a 19 yearold niece who actually called their aunt who lives in hollister, told her exactly what happened. She was hysterical on the phone. The family members came hear, but because this is still an active crime scene they were not allowed to get any closer. It also appears that the family members who were inside at the time, theyre still in there talking to investigators. So right now the scene has really not changed a lot since 2 00 in the morning. We got a chance to talk to the aunt. She says it was her sister would was the victim. Her sister, 36 years old. Heres would she had to say about what happened. I just got a call from my niece telling me that my sister was dead, and she just said she was just crying. She couldnt tell me anything else. She just said that she was dead. So i said i was going to go over there to find out more details. Thats what im here, to find out more details. She lives at the house with her husband . She lives with her husband and motherinlaw and fatherin law and her children, four children. How old are the kids . The kids are 16, 14, 13, and a 19yearold. Reporter investigators at this point, they dont know the motive behind this. I can tell you that the man had one gunshot wound and the woman had multiple gunshot wounds. Right now this is still obviously a very active scene. We will try to find out a motive. Other than the family members telling investigators that they were having some marital issues, thats the only thing that the investigators have to go on, at least for now. Back to you, daria. Ill step out of the way. A lot of volunteers, some of whom are slicing up vegetables, others are carving into hams and turkey. The christmas breakfast is already underway. This is the downstairs dining room where hundreds are enjoying a christmas meal full of ham, eggs, grits, and biscuits, a meal that has many people smiling downstairs as this really is their only opportunity for a quality christmas meal. Now, upstairs here volunteers are preparing for the christmas lunch. Thats ham, turkey, stuffing, and dessert. In total, glade will serve about 5,000 meals today with the help of more than 500 volunteers who are giving up their time with family to give back to the community. Not a lot of people have family, and its really nice to sort of form a community, no matter where you are and no matter where youre visiting. Its nice to help people would dont have family. This is my second time, me and my whole family is here. Its a great experience. Reporter these meals are available to anyone. Breakfast runs until 8 30, and lunch starts at 9 00, will run until 2 00, all thanks to the help of more than 500 volunteers. They will be getting some special help today. Target has learned that there are actually some scamming e mails now connected with this recent information hack that compromised 40 million didnt and credit cards. So now theyre warning you about that. And theyre saying theyre putting everything on target. Com. So if you get something thats trying to look like an official communication from target, an e mail, and you know what it is going to be doing, trying to phish. Dont fall for it. Target is saying everything is going to be on the website. Theyre not sending any emails or anything like that. Remember all of those card accounts and numbers and pins were stolen between november 27th and december 15th if you went into a target store during that time. And mailing a let ser going to cost you a little bit more once we hit the new year. A little bit after for the price of a firstclass stamp, going up by 3 cents. There is no threat to this neighborhood even though investigators are still on the scene. You can see them walking in and out with the charcoal gray suv. This happened shortly before 2 00 in the morning involving a man and woman. We talked to the womans family. They believe that the two were having some sort of marital issue, but nothing that would lead them to believe that this would happen. There were kids inside the home at the time, and this video that we got, this happened on villa amigos. We have learned the man suffered one gunshot wound and the woman had multiple gunshot wounds. The woman was a 36yearold woman. Apparently her 19yearold daughter was inside the home at the time. She was the one who called family members from as far away as hollister to tell them what happened. The family came hear, they got the information from the sheriffs department. Other than the marital issues, investigators dont have a lot to go on. So at this point they dont have a motive. Theyre not releasing the name of the two people involved in the murdersuicide. Back to you, daria. 1 32. New this morning a person was stabbed to death behind the santa rosa library. Police say a homeless man has confessed to the killing k. Officers found the victim around 11 00 on east street. Time now is 8 33. Other news that were following this morning, a 67yearold man is in the hospital with severe head injuries. He was robbed at beaten at the Graton Casino parking lot. This happened around 6 30 Tuesday Morning. The man told the deputies that at least two people attacked him, hit him in the head, and then robbed him. Just in time for the holidays, all 00 residents forced to evacuate during a wildfire at big sur, now allowed back into their homes. Those evacuations were lifted monday night. 34 homes were destroyed in this fire, which is 12 more than they originally estimated, but when they went back in and reassessed they saw thats how many homes had burned down. Plus it was 1. 4 square miles that was burned in total. 911 tapes reveal the gunman in the reno hospital shooting told patients to flee before he murdered a doctor. One of the tapes said the gunman told patients to get out or he would shoot them after he went into the urology Nevada Office in reno last week. The caller said the shooter was armed with a pistol grip 12 gauge shotgun, and the shooter told the caller he had a vasectomy at the office and it rained his life. Police confirmed the man had been a patient at that facility and had complained about a botched surgery that happened in 2010. Frasier killed one doctor and injured another before killing himself. San Francisco Health officials issuing an alert to people who ate or drank at the comstock saloon in north beach. A food handler there has been diagnosed with hepatitis a and may have exposed customers. That worker is on duty between december 12th and december 15th, then also worked on december 19th. Officials say the risk of exposure is low but they do want people what ate or had a drink there at the comstock saloon on those dates to get tested. 8 35 right now. Here we are on Christmas Morning. Sunday a Hotel Manager found the kitten, brought the kitten back to the shelter, and they were reunited just in time for christmas. Just unbelievable. We just wouldnt have thought it would happen, and i want to thank everybody here, the staff, theyve been wonderful. And everybody who called in tips, the manager who found her, and thank you so much. People are working today because theyre trying to get the power back on as you can see in our video here into kron 4 on the left hand side from new york all the way to look at all the traffic accidents what a mess for holiday travelers in ohio. So this is the scene throughout much of the country that has seen these storms. Theres still trying to get power back on for example detroit, they say they have 22,000 people without power there. Thats because of an ice storm. In maine, where they expect this kind of thing, 70,000 people waking up this Christmas Morning with no power. In vermont they have about 1800. 500 customers right now still without power this Christmas Morning in new york state. So thats just a snapshot of whats happening and youve been following the weather annie both nationwide and here in the bay area. Big different picture for us. Yes, for us things are going to be really nice once again. You can see we kind of have a White Christmas if you look at the nothing. Nationwide that storm that daria talked about. The ice storm, that storm is well out of the country right now. In fact were only just seeing a little bit of snow in the great lakes regions but today for your Christmas Day heres the forecast. Temperatures right now are in the 30s thats where the coldest readings are in the north bay but the mildest reading is in the San Francisco in the city in downtown at 53 degrees. And then were look, for a high in the afternoon mid 60s to low 70s. So we could also flirt with a few more records once again today. Under sunny skies and above average temperatures. Right now as youre stepping out the door in case youre going to head out and get a little morning run in or as long as youre done with presents all night for the kids. Developing story out of san lorenzo as police are investigating what appears to be a murder suicide. Kron 4s will tram is live on the scene with more. Where is this neighborhood, will . Reporter well, this is off of its near hisperian. Via amigos and via lucas. I can tell you the neighbors were shocked because a lot of them were having Christmas Parties last night and they heard at least two gunshots. This happened at the home right there. You can see with the charcoal gray suv investigators have been here since at least 2 00 in the morning when they got the 911 call to arrive. Theyve been walking in and out. Heres video that we got from overnight. I can tell you that the two poem involved people involved are a husband and wife. Talking to investigators, they believe that it was the man who shot the woman. The woman had multiple gunshot wounds. And then the man had one gunshot wound. We talked to family members. There was apparently at least one child inside. A 19yearold woman. 19yearold daughter. She was the one inside. She was the one who called family members from hol ester and told them exactly what happened. At this point, they dont belief that this man went after anybody else inside the home other than his wife. We got a chance to talk to jd nelson the spokesman for the Alameda County sheriffs department. Heres what he said about this murder suicide. It seems very clear that this was a murder suicide. Theres no threat to the neighborhood or community. This is unfortunately a very tragic incident that occurred on christmas and were working through to find out not so much what happened, but why it happened. Reporter we dont know who shot whom yet . At this point, we believe that the male shot the female. And then took his own life thereafter. So again, kind of a its just a sad situation. You can imagine the family that has to now live with this on Christmas Day. You can you can imagine their heartbreak. Reporter i mean daria it was a horrible story. We saw family members all dressed up here so it looked like perhaps they were coming from their own christmas party. They came here and bundled up and waiting outside the crime scene tape until nelson told them exactly what happened. The family member, the sister, the older sister told me that she believes that her sister and the husband were having some kind of marital issues but nothing that she thought would lead this to happen. According to jd nelson theyre not searching for any suspects of course. But other than the marital issues they really dont have much to go on and i asked him pointblank whats the motive behind this . Thousands are going to celebrate christmas at glide Memorial Church and they want to be ready its a lot of miles to feed. Kron 4 mike pelton is there with the details. You can hear the Christmas Music off in the background as volunteers are busy slicing and dicing vegetables, carving into hams and turkeys as they prepare a lot of meals here this morning. This group just replaced an earlier Morning Group of volunteers that have since gone home to spend Christmas Morning with their families. Now glide today is serving up two big meals and heres some video from this morning as that first meal is a christmas breakfast full of ham, eggs, grits and biscuits. Hundreds enjoy that had meal this morning and lots of them smiled as they received their meal. A meal many otherwise could not afford. Now up here preparations have been underway since 6 30 for the christmas lunch. Full of ham, turkey, stuffing, and dessert. Glide plans to hand out 5,000 meals with the help of more than 500 volunteers who are donating their time to help those . Need. This is your first year volunteering . Second year. What did you like about last year that brought you back for a second year . Seeing the smiles on peoples faces and bringing joy to people. It makes you feel so much better. Yes. It does. The legal battle continues over an oakland teenager whos on life support as doctors and now a second doctor has an opinion that affirms that 13yearold jahi mcmath is brain dead. And will never wake up. Her family though has been fighting to keep her alive on life support since december 11th which is when she suffered a serious complication after having a routine tonsillectomy. And Childrens Hospital oakland at this time said that she was dead. Unfortunately the medical condition of jahi thanks for starting your Christmas Morning off with the kron 4 morning news and keep an eye on the surf if youre planning to take a walk on the beach for the holiday today. A strong seasonal swell forecast to hit bay area coastlines and not just today over the next couple of days. That means theres the threat of rip currents and sneaker waves and they issued a coastal hazard statement from Northern California beaches if Sonoma County to monterey. The storm system actually is near alaska and its responsible for delivering us the strong waves so theyre advising you if you go to the beach, stay off the rocks near the water and keep a safe distance from the tide. The traffic heading west towards San Francisco and east off the bridge light enough that even with the cig alert earlier this morning and three lanes of traffic blocked on the bay bridge. And they said it hasnt been processed yet. And its been there since the 18th. It hasnt been processed. I cant tell you how many countless hours we have spent on the phone dealing with this issue with people in memphis and theyre still blaming it on the ice storm which was two and a half weeks ago. Reporter from 6 00 p. M. Tuesday until 11 59 wednesday evening, the california Highway Patrol will be running its annual christmas maximum enforcement period. The chp says officers will be looking for unsafe drivers, speeders impaired drivers and people not wearing their seat belts. The public is also asked to call 911 if they suspect someone might be driving under the influence. During the four Day Christmas enforcement period last year, chp made more than 1100 dui arrests across california. And 39 people were killed in highway traffic accidents. More than half with respect wearing their werent wearing their seat belts. [ sirens ] this years christmas maximum enforcement period is running well, santa claus is breathing a huge sigh of relief.
