A major commercial highway in Southern California will stay closed for at least several more days after major mudslides. State route 58 is still covered in mud that is six feet deep in some are areas. Its about 100 miles north of los angeles. Last week, a 30minute downpour turned the highway into a mud pit, trapping 300 people in their cars. At least 60 of the hidden pine fire is contained this morning in central texas. Nearly 300 firefighters assisted by aircraft are fighting the 4,600acre fire. Fifty homes were destroyed since the fire broke out last week. Its shaping up to be an eventful week in the race for the white house. The frontrunners from both parties are making headlines with their talk of terrorism and we are still waiting on Vice President joe bidens plans. Brook silvabraga is here in new york with more. Reporter joe biden did give a speech here in new york city over the weekend, but staying true to form, he didnt make any reference to a possible president ial bid. He did discuss terrorism and religious extremism, which are major topics at the moment with talks of 9 11 and the benghazi attacks dominating the campaigns of donald trump and Hillary Clinton. Hillary reporter Hillary Clinton says she doesnt know what to expect on thursday when she testifies in front of a republicancontrolled House Committee on the american attack on the compound in benghazi. I will do my best to answer their questions, but i dont really know what their objective is right now. Reporter former secretary of state has testified twice before. She says the investigation has turned political. I think its pretty clear that whatever they might have thought they were doing, they ended up becoming a partisan arm of the Republican National committee. Reporter representative trey be gowdy, who chairs the committee, says he is not concerned with the 2016 campaign and is only concerned about finding out the security failures that led to the death of four americans. I have told my own republican colleagues and friends shut up talking about things you dont know anything about. Reporter meanwhile, the Republican Campaign took a bitter turn over the weekend when frontrunner donald trump placed blame for the 9 11 attacks on president george w. A gunman believed to be palestinian opened fire at a heavily guarded bus station and killing an israeli soldier and wounding several people being shot and killed by security forces. The Transportation Department today is expected to unveil a requirement for operators to register their unmanned aerial vehicles. The goal is to have the registry in place for the holidays. Officials in hawaii may close beaches today after a man was seriously injured in a shark attack. The attack took place saturday at lonnie kia beach on the island of oahu. The victim and another man were swim about 50 to 100 yards from shore when the shark attacked. Kayakers carried them back to the shore. Injuries are pretty extreme. Both legs. Just above the ankle were just hanging on. The victim is hospitalized in serious condition. Then saturday evening, an eel bit a 32yearold man off waikiki beach. The attacks following the attack last week on surfer colin cook. A shark with a massive attack on my leg and i had to push him off this end and lost some fingers and stuff and kind of punched him with my other and got a little bit of a breakfree and i swam up. Cook made it to the shore with the help of a friend. Doctors amputated most of his left leg. There have been more than a half dozen shark attacks in hawaii this year. Apple is planning an appeal after losing a patent lawsuit. A federal jury ordered apple to pay 234 million for the university of michigan for illegally using the Schools Technology and for some processors that power iphones and ipads. Police say a 24year veteran of the atkins Sheriffs Department was shot on sunday by a patient being treated at st. Cloud hospital. The spokesman said they fought over the deputys gun. Several shots were fired during that struggle and then Security Officers were able to get in the room and the subject was tased with a taser, and taken into custody. The deputy was guarding the suspect who was being treated after a domestic dispute. After the suspect was tased, he died at the scene. How much of the heritage of texas can be traced back to a dance hall . I think pretty much all of it can be, because everybody came to the dance hall or to the Community Center to share and enjoy what they had done in the community they lived in. It is the oldest dance hall in texas, one hour west of austin. It opened to the public in 1870. Its estimated 1,000 dance halls were built in texas between the late 1800s and the early 1900s. Now just 400 still stand and only two operate daily. Luckenbach dance hall and this green hall where Willie Wilson uses a window to enter the dance hall. When it comes to preserve texas decaying dance halls, broken spoke is still moving. They know darn well they are not at carnegie hall.
