Reporter others were dealing with the unpleasant results of a violent storm, cars frozen in a parking lot turned lake of ice in revere, massachusetts. And flooded basements after high winds sent waves bursting through a sea wall in scituate. That combination of winds, tide, hid a super moon produced the highest tide this area has ever seen. The waters of the Boston Harbor are nearly 10 feet below where im standing right here, but at the height of the storm the sea waters went up over this wharf, into the downtown streets, subways and basements. At this basement apartment, chicago city workers were called to rescue 84yearold Geneva Taylor who lives here without heat or hot water. At my age, its rough. Reporter at the citys drafty greyhound terminal, hundreds huddled for long delayed buses and their drivers still snowbound in the stormy east. Karen graham spent the night liting to leave the windy city for the sunshine state. At least if we were on a bus, we would be warm. Were freezing. But the good news is that on sunday the thermometer is expected to rise all the way up to the mid30s. Jeff. Glor Dean Reynolds along the agicago river. Dean, thank you. We leave the icy cold now for fire and fury, the hot new book about the Trump White House. It went on sale today, four days ahead of schedule, and shot to the top of bestseller lists as folks lined up to buy it. More now from white house nnrrespondent margaret brennan. Thank you very much. Thank you very much. Should steve bannon be fired . Reporter on his way to a working weekend at camp david, President Trump ignored questions about his former chief strategist, steve bannon, who was quoted making damaging remarks about mr. Trump in a book out today. The president s lawyers unsuccessfully tried to stop its publication by serving the author and the book publisher legal notice after excerpts leaked earlier this week. Today on twitter, the president evtacked his former ally bannon calling him sloppy steve. Earlier, he said bannon had lost his mind. Bannon praised the president on his radio show wednesday night prompting this response i dont know, he called me a great man last night. So you know, obviously, he changed his tune pretty quick. Reporter the damage may already be done. In the book, bannon alleges that the president s soninlaw and white house adviser, jared kushner, is involved in financial crimes and that donald trump jr. Was treasonous for having met at trump tower with russians offering damaging information about Hillary Clinton. White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders downplayed the president s relationship with bannon. Im not aware that they were erer particularly close. Reporter katie walsh, former Trump White House deputy chief of staff was also quoted by the author as saying that six weeks into the term, kushner still could not name the administrations top three priorities. Working with the president , she said, was like trying to figure out what a child wants. Walsh later denied that remark. I absolutely spoke to the president. Th reporter sanders said the author, michael wolff, only had limited access to mr. Trump, a claim wolff disputed this morning. I mean, ive spent about three hours with the president over the course of the campaign and in the white house. My theory about all this is disclose everything, and then let people make their judgments. Cl reporter since president dainton left office, his foundation has grown into a multibillion dollar enterprise with significant donations from foreign governments and businesses. The investigation into its fund raising started well before the 2016 president ial campaign, but no charges were ever brought. Its a shame whats happened with the f. B. I. El reporter President Trump, ctmself under investigation for obstruction of justice in the russia probe, has repeatedly criticized the f. B. I. For its investigations of the clintons, and in twitter messages he has called on his attorney general Jeff Sessions to prosecute crooked hillary. In a statement, clintons spokesman called the case a sham that was being used to distract from the indictments, guilty pleas, and accusations of treason from trumps own people. It doesnt look appropriate and here, you know, appearance is everything. Reporter bill mateja is a former federal prosecutor. Its not necessarily unusual for them to reopen an investigation. It is unusual for the white house to be calling for the re opening of the investigation. Reporter this probe is separate from the f. B. I. s investigation into Hillary Clintons private email server. Amid all this, beauttah says teachers have learned to be resilient. They do everything they can to make it better and they try not to fuss.
