We want to make sure that the citizens of the bay area know that were out there protecting and serving but they need to recognize that this is a dangerous job especially after what happened in dallas and baton rouge. Slide it in. Reporter shoppers are still swiping. The less secure magnetic strip on their credit card. Thats because millions of the new chip readers arent working. Not as simple as just buying some terminals that you can plug in and poof, everything works. Theres a lot of very complicated software coding that goes on behind the scenes. Reporter this analyst says lots of merchants waited until the last minute last fall to install the terminal. Now theres a bottleneck as banks sign off on each one. New rules announced last month should start bringing terminals online faster. But even when the chip readers are working, customers like rhoades have another complaint. The whole process is a lot timeconsuming than swiping a card. Reporter chip cards have to stay in the terminal while the transaction is being completed. On average, a 10second wait according to one study. To change that visa is introducing a Software Upgrade called quick chip. The consumer will be able to remove his card more quickly from the terminal than waiting for the authorization to go and come back. It should take about 2 seconds. What should we be worried about with pets. Viruses are like a parasite, they cannot exist without the host. Viruses are unique in that every one of our cells has dna or rna which helps the cells replicate. Viruses will enter the cell and use the host dna or rna to replicate so without that it cannot live and viruses are very speciesspecific. Most human viruses need a human host. Most dog viruses need a dog host and same with cats like that. So its rare that we see cross species infection. So when we think about the zika virus, we havent seen any animals with it . Not to my knowledge. Okay . Its not to say that couldnt happen. But i am not knowledgeable about zika infecting dogs at this point in time but perhaps in the future we might see that. There are cases where viruses will mutate and then it will infect other species. Aids virus is a good example of that.
