Coming up, one week from today, the biggest free pet adoption event in the country. It is called mades pet adoption day. Here to talk about the effort is president rich avozano. You brought your special friend brie. You adopted her yourself. I did. Two years ago from oakland animal services. She was an abused little guy. She had chicken wire embedded in her stuck. Terrible skin diseases and matted coats. They did a wonderful job in rehabilitating her. Myself stepped forward and took her home and part of the program is to give an economic stipend to the organizations participating, a stimulus package if you will. So they got 2,000 for adopting brie to us. I could have afforded to pay the money but i give it to local charities. So this is a win, win, win. Next week you adopt a pet, you get the pet for free, the shelter gets a huge donation from mades fund and mades fund gets to perform their mission. Its something that works for everybody in this situation. Tell us where this money is coming from because were talking millions of dollars. Its coming from the maddys fund, it gives to dog and cats organizations. We need to find out the heart from this. Its from the duffield family. Its in the spirit of maddy. He was a miniature schnauzer that came into their lives 15 years ago. They fell in love with her and she gave them so much joy, they were playing with her and he said if i am ever to collect some wealth i want to give back to you, talking to maddy, and her kind. He basically started a foundation, 300 Million Foundation to basically help create a country that guarantees that all the dogs and cats that go into animal shelters will find a loving home. This weekend is an example of that because if people go down to the shelters, if they go to the rescue groups, theyll find wonderful dogs and cats. She obviously had a very, very rough life and so a lot of people think brie ends up in the shelter, theyre mentally messed up and will not make a good pet but that is clearly not the case. Brie is an example of a tragic beginning but a wonder end. What is usual is theres no fault of the animal, the animal is a victim of a breakup in a home, of lose are their job, a foreclosure, the animal turns up at the shelter, theyre wonderful and all they need is somebody to love them. You get so much joy and happiness, it actually improves our health. You get the animal for free, you get to work with the wonderful organization that does great work every single day of the year, and you save a life, and you get a lot of joy out of it and a lot of fun for as long as these little guys can live with you.
