To the two people accused of murdering 71yearold Edward French, they will make their First Court Appearance right behind me at the San Francisco courthouse later this morning. 19yearold lamonte mims and 20 yearold fantasy decuir will be in court this morning to hear the charges against them. They are accused of robbing and killing 71yearold Edward French just before 8 a. M. On july 16 at twin peaks. Police say french was at a commercial location scout filming the scene for places to shoot a commercial. Police were able to identify the suspects after a separate Armed Robbery on july 28 near cathedral of saint marys of the assumption. [ pause ] cameras were in both instances, evidence obtained from both scenes that linked them. Reporter police say mims and decuir are charged with homicide, robbery and using a firearm. Reporter if you are in brentwood over the weekend, you may have noticed that the water tastes and smells different maybe an earthy taste, maybe tasting like dirt. Thats what a lot of people reported. But brentwood is saying, no, the water is safe. You can drink your water even though it may taste funny. Maybe add some lemon to it. According to the city, the taste and smell are coming from an algae bloom that is in the water source the city uses. This usually happens after long periods of hot weather. Yeah, this whole thing happened in the plaza right behind me and i have just learned after hearing from detectives that in fact the suspect in all of this the person who did this shooting is still at large, still on the run right now this morning. Let me show you whats going on behind me. San jose police have been going through what we have been is a liquor store. Jims liquor mart in this plaza which is at the corner of south white road and quimby road. They tell me that this was a robbery that turned deadly. The investigation has been going on for quite some time. The initial call came in close to 11 00 last night. Paramedics and police got here. They found a man they say with at least one gunshot wound. They were not able to save him. He later died. And back out here live, just to give you a look at what theyre doing here, we have some crime scene tape up. Police have blocked off basically all of the entrances to this plaza here. So crime scene is here. They say the homicide unit will be taking over this investigation. There have been evidence markers that they have been taking pictures of outside of the liquor store. The coroner did just leave just a short time ago and i can tell you that throughout the night, police have been busy talking to people that they believe may be witnesses and also family members. Its right near story road. Three lanes currently blocked by this crash and traffic is stretching the backup is stretching towards Yerba Buena Island so give yourself some extra time. We are tracking a 42minute travel time. To avoid the backup, take 85 from 101 and then connect to 87 and back up to 280, at least youll be moving instead of in that big backup with all though brake lights in front of ya. Over in burlingame and heading towards millbrae, residual delays from overnight roadwork. A new crash in the south direction 880 near industrial parkway and it is definitely causing some brake lights but we are still in the green as far as our travel times so 22 minutes between 238 to 237. Metering lights are on at the bay bridge toll plaza and traffic quickly backed up beyond 880 overcrossing. Hats a check of your traffic; over to you. Police suspect more people have been victimized as a bay area man who posed as a doctor and sexually assaulted a female patient in san jose. The 47yearold man was arrested friday at his business about two weeks after the assault. He owns this pharmacy on west alma avenue. Police say he did a phony exam on the woman before selling her pills for supposed ailments. Now authorities are encouraging other victims to come forward. We are tracking a bit of a delay for folks making their way through the tamont pass westbound 580 from 205 to 680 about 30 minutes. We see the slowdowns out of san lorenzo. Southbound 880 all the way down beyond highway 92. This is all due to an accident near industrial parkway involving a couple of cars and thats putting us in the travel time of yellow, 15 minutes from 238 to decoto road. Northbound 101 the most challenging commute so far this morning for folks through the south bay, an earlier accident sig alert is in effect three lanes closed. This is 101 at story road. The traffic is backed up beyond yerba buena. So to avoid this, get on highway 85 to 87 and reconnect to 280 just to at least be moving rather than sitting. 51minute ride from hellyer to san antonio. Eastshore freeway stacking up 80 near powell street so westbound approaching the berkeley curve and heading towards the maze there, will be in for some delays. We have the metering lights on and its well over a 20minute ride as you make your way from the maze into San Francisco. Hats a check of your traffic; over to you. Well, this morning is starting off with a gray sky as we are used to. Sfo, i just checked, flights are all good, 90 on time. Thats good actually. So even though theres, you know, the cloud cover, its not causing delays for those flights this morning. So if you have any plans to travel, its clear. Right now, temperatures in concord 61. 59 San Francisco. 63 in san jose. Clouds will hang around for a few hours and they are going to keep our temperatures cool. But then this afternoon, we will get that sunshine. Temperatures will rise up to right where they should be this time of the year. And, in fact, we are going to stay pretty average for the rest of the week. Were staying steady where we should be as we look into the next day or so, so at least we can see our temperatures pretty normal for this time of the year but we are going to see a little shakeup with our wind. So fairly calm between 5 to 10mileperhour winds across the area but as we look at fairfield, 21milean hour winds westsouthwest. South winds in santa rosa but calm. That might change this afternoon. Thats when well see our winds start to pick up a little bit. We are going to get a breeze working its way in. We have this trough thats coming through and thats actually going to hang around, around Northern California into nevada and its causing our Pressure Gradient to increase so thats causing winds to pick up between 10 to 20 Miles Per Hour expected this afternoon. Its not going to clear the skies though. So this morning youre going to see those clouds coming through hanging through into concord and livermore. By 1 00 nice and sunny.
