Witnesses say the suspect shot a man in front of a liquor store and ran from the scene. Officers combed the area but still have not found the shooter. Drivers on i80 are being more cautious this morning because the gun violence that has plagued the freeway is back. One driver had a close call yesterday near appian way and pinole. This latest incident happened in the thick of the rush hour commute when a green toyota pulled up alongside a woman driving near fitzgerald and a passenger in the back pointed a gun at her and then fired multiple rounds in the air. You got to look out. You never know. Reporter the woman wasnt hurt. But its the latest in a series of shootings on the freeway. He helped police nab two dangerous jail escapees in a statewide manhunt. The amount of the reward to be paid to mr. Chapman as 100,000. There you go. The citizen informed police that they knew these people were wanted and possibly matched the description. In corte madera, Mike Sugerman, kpix 5. San jose wants to turn abandoned hotels into homes for the homeless. Local businesses dont want it. ,,,,,,,, the company has submitted p to the city, for a 339thod cienda the ikea furniture chain is opening in dublin. The company submitted plans to the city for a 339,000square foot store at hacienda drive at 5 80. It will open in 2018 and employ 350 people. It would need approval from the city. Some opponents are concerned about traffic and have started an online petition in hopes stopping the project. About a decade ago ikea abandoned plans to open a store at the same location. The Swedish Company currently has two Bay Area Stores in East Palo Alto and emeryville. San Jose City Council has approved a plan to convert a vacant Downtown Hotel into homeless housing. The hotel has been vacant since 2008 when it was bought by the citys redevelopment agency. Some nearby businesses have expressed concerns about this new homeless plan but the mayor sam liccardo says the hotel is a practical way to get some people off the street. Whether we build the housing or not, the homeless will be in downtown. So the question is, are they going to be on the street surrounding businesses or are they going to be housed . The city is considering a similar project at the motel near santa clara university. As for the plaza hotel, if all goes as scheduled, people could start applying for tenancy later this year. One of the most accident prone roads in San Francisco will soon get an overhaul. The mta has approved 12 million in safety improvements for lombard street. Im michelle griego. Developing news in berkeley where police are combing the streets for a suspect in a double shooting. Kpix 5s anne makovec is live in berkeley on this investigation and a recent shooting that may be related. Anne reporter yeah. The two people who were shot this morning are in the hospital right now fighting for their lives. Were very close to the border with oakland here in berkeley right now. This is intersection of tremont and prince. Its blocked off. Police got a report of shots fired at 1 a. M. They found a man collapsed on a nearby porch shot several times. Soon after, a woman who had also been shot was dropped off at alta bates medical center. Police say that this shooting was targeted. It was not random. They cannot say yet though if it is connected to a shooting on nearby delaware that happened yesterday. That one happened in broad daylight. A man walked up to another man outside a liquor store near san pablo avenue and shot him then took off running. That suspect is still on the loose.
