Some gusty winds already this morning of 20 and 30 miles per hour. Humidity less than 25 . Hazy skies outside right now, some partly cloudy conditions, too. The temperatures into the 30s and also the 40s. This afternoon, think we could be headed right back up into the record books. These temperatures are going to be very mild today. In fact, we are looking at about 70 in oakland, 69 degrees in san jose. And about 65 degrees in San Francisco. These numbers running a good 9 to 12 degrees above the average. In fact, it may be even warmer this weekend. Well have more on that in a moment. Lets check the roads with liza. Slow traffic now for the Altamont Pass. Its been backed up and the delays continue for westbound 580 now slow from the 205 interchange through livermore bound for pleasanton. So thats the slowest stretch of traffic for the entire bay area. You can see that heavy traffic there in our live camera on the lefthand side would be westbound 580 again delays leaving the Altamont Pass. Bridge commuting still okay. So its friday light for the san mateo bridge. Friday light for the bay bridge. But if you are heading for the Richmond San Rafael bridge, just keep in mind its more of a visual hazard this morning, a brush fire with smoke visible from 580 approaching francisco boulevard off the richmond bridge. Kpix 5 reporter cate caugiran is live in pittsburg, where a marijuana grow house went up in flames this morning. Reporter firefighters say that it looked like nobody lived in this house and its primary use was just to grow marijuana. Heres some video we have of the fire from earlier. You can take a look when Contra Costa County got here they saw flames through the roof on this home off tampico and Rancho Bernardo drive around 1 a. M. Because of the heavy flames firefighters started dousing the house from the outside. When it was safe, some firefighters went in the first floor and they made a surprising discovery. We brought the roof under control and then put people inside of the house to try and extinguish the fire completely. When they went in to extinguish the fire, they found a marijuana grow operation occurring inside the structure. Reporter investigators say the suspect or suspects were stealing electricity and had a sophisticated setup about 10 to 15,000 worth of equipment inside. Now, they dont know the cause of the fire, but they say it started likely because of faulty electrical wiring. Now, back out live you can take a look at the damage here. Firefighters say the second floor of this house is a complete loss. Thats where they believe the fire started. You can see the windows are all busted out. We know that the roof has collapsed. As you look out toward the coastline, those swells running very, very large 11 to 13 feet. And yes, occasionally we could see a 20foot break right along the coastline maybe some 40 footers for mavericks. How about this . We have a few high clouds drifting across our skies today. Looks like things are going to stay fairly dry though and that offshore wind will continue to blow. We have seen some gusts already this morning of 20 and 30 miles per hour. This winter is so warm and dry the state is actually bringing on more firefighters. As kiet do reports from san joses almaden valley, seasonal firefighters arent used to being on the job in january. In a normal fire season, he starts work in april. But then, he got the call. Just my battalion chief, he asked me if i wanted to come back to work. I said yes. Reporter with the driest winter in years, the state has called in 125 seasonal firefighters just like james three months early to be stationed in northern california. Southern california got 200 firefighters. Its no wonder. So far this year, there have been 300 wildfires statewide. Last year, there were zero. Yes, its schooler and the days are cooler and the days are shorter but its as dry as at the end of summer. The temperature gives people a false sense that things are okay. Temperature has very little to do with wild land fires. Its more about the relative humidity and the wind. So fair to say you have probably never seen it this bad . Its unprecedented. They cant confirm that that occurred. There is no pedestrian there. They just have that solo vehicle but they are guiding traffic through the area very heavy traffic reported now for san tomas approaching homestead. This is in that northbound direction. We have a lot of folks heading out towards Half Moon Bay to check out the mavericks surfing competition. And now theres an accident delaying that traffic even more. This accident happened highway 92 at main street on your approach to downtown Half Moon Bay. Very heavy traffic now on Half Moon Bay city streets and along highway 92. Its just a very brief delay at the toll plaza at this hour with the metering lights on. But once you get on the bridge, you see right here westbound traffic flows well into the San Francisco. The san mateo bridge is trouble free. Traffic volumes are up so we are seeing more drivers out there westbound but no major delays for the toll plaza just a very brief delay for west 92 at midspan. Now, highway 92 in Half Moon Bay, we are looking at delays this morning with more traffic than usual as folks head to set up for the mavericks surfing competition. And an accident slowing down traffic in downtown Half Moon Bay near highway 92 at main street. Keep that in mind if you plan to head out there. 580 680, thats going to be a slow drive. Its been slow for west 580 from about the 205 interchange. Its been heavy approaching vasco. And thats where the chp is clearing up an accident from one lane of traffic. Reporter frank, we know that detectives will be back here again this morning to continue their investigation. As far as they know, they say that no one lived in this house and it appeared its only purpose was to grow marijuana. When Contra Costa County fire first got here, they saw flames shooting through the roof. In this home off tampico and Rancho Bernardo drive they got the call just after 1 00 this morning. Because of the heavy flames firefighters say they started to douse the house just from the outside and once it was safe, some of the firefighters went in to the first floor and thats when they made a surprising discovery. We brought the roof under control and then put people inside of the house to try and extinguish the fire completely. When they went in to extinguish the fire, they found a marijuana grow operation occurring inside of the structure. Reporter investigators say the suspect or suspects were stealing electricity and had a sophisticated setup about 10 to 15,000 worth of equipment inside. They still do not know the cause of the fire. But its likely it started because of faulty electrical wiring. And now that its daylight you can take a look at the damage that the fire did to this house. Firefighters say the second floor is pretty much a loss. You can see through these windows that are broken out. The roof actually collapsed in the flames. As far as what they found inside, they say they found about 1,000 plants and thats street valued anywhere between a million and a half to 2 million.
