Intelligence community has reviewed the video and says the beheading american journalist james foley is authentic. Craig boswell has the latest from washington. Reporter the video of an Islamic Militant beheading a man believed to be 40yearold james foley is too gruesome to show. Posted online tuesday, isis called it a message to america in retaliation for u. S. Airstrikes on the groups fighters in iraq. Former deputy cia director mike morrell says the u. S. Should not be deterred. So we should mark this date down because this is isis first terrorist attack against the united states. Reporter foley was works as a note toll journalist covering the civil war in syria when he went missing in november 2012. Previously, he had been detained working in libya and talked about the experience on cbs. Well, we were going out to report on what was actually happening on the front lines. Reporter his family confirmed his death and called on his kidnappers to spare the lives of other who is. Like jim, they are innocent. At this point, we dont know much about the situation because nobody is talking. Reporter yeah. We are still waiting for a lot of answers this morning. Hospital officials have refused to identify this person or how severe his or her symptoms might be. And we are having trouble with the story that i had prepared. The bottom line, though, is that the person is in isolation right now at a South Sacramento Kaiser Permanente facility. The person is being treated and there are blood samples right now on the way to the centers for Disease Control in atlanta. Well see a little more sunshine the next couple of days as High Pressure is going to start to nudge its way in. Lets get out there now. We have sun and clouds back towards san francisco. The marin headlands. We are seeing some of those clouds lingering. And a pretty good breeze developing around the bay area today. Into san jose, well, we have some sunshine breaking out there. Looking toward the new levis stadium, it looks like more sun into the afternoon for them. Should be a very pleasant day in san jose. But if you are planning a trip to the beach, yeah, grab your jacket or coat. You may need it. Its going to be at the coastline. We have had some drizzle there this morning although not as heavy as yesterday. A lot of clouds out there right now. Still, the temperatures beginning to bump up in some of the interior valleys. You have some sunshine into livermore. 75 degrees. 71 san jose. 64 degrees in san francisco. 66 degrees in concord. All right. That area of low pressure that brought the heavy drizzle yesterday has moved all the way into southern california. They are seeing some showers down there towards san diego a couple of scattered showers continuing as that low moves on through but once that low kicks east, our weather is going to start to change. We should start to clear things out very nicely the next couple of days after some low clouds and fog in the morning. Slow clearing this afternoon, sunny skies away from the coastline, more clouds rolling back onshore overnight tonight. And then it looks like a warming trend starting tomorrow but just by a few degrees as High Pressure begins to nudge in. That low pressure system brought some drizzle along the coastline, still a little damp toward the beaches now but thats going to kick eastward and that ridge of High Pressure building in. Temperatures today rather pleasant for this time of year into sacramento about 85 degrees in the afternoon. 94 in fresno slight chance of a few thunderstorms in yosemite. Mostly cloudy skies, 68 degrees into monterey bay. Computer models showing you clouds flirting with the coastline all afternoon and surging back onshore overnight tonight into the bay and maybe some of the valleys probably not going to see the drizzle that we had over the last couple of days but it will cloudy outside. Temperatures this afternoon, comfortable although running slightly below average about 79 degrees in san jose. About 76 in fremont. You will see some 60s toward the coastline. Whats interesting, you look at the buoys in the water off the coast, still in the 60s, pretty warm for this time of the year. East bay temperatures will be running up into the 70s even a few 80s this afternoon. About 81 in pleasanton. 79 in concord. About 71 and breezy through vallejo. In the north bay, you will see those temperatures running up into the 70s in many spots, a Beautiful Day in the napa valley. 76 degrees there. Temperatures into the 60s into san francisco. 72 in oakland. All right. Your sunset time for tonight, 7 56. Sunrise tomorrow, 6 31. And as we look out over the next couple of days, yup, looks like High Pressure takes over just a little. Temperatures going to warm up a degree or two the next few. Then maybe cooling down slightly for the weekend. But yeah, this is truly the dog days of summer. This is where kind of that ebb and flow just minor changes in the atmosphere can bring big changes in the weather here. We went out for coffee and it was a little drizzle. Damp out there. A freak accident at a middle school at las cruces, new mexico, five players and a coach were struck by lightning during a football practice yesterday. One of the players had to be airlifted to a pediatric burn unit. Another player was knocked unconscious. And firefighters are making steady progress on that big wildfire near yosemite now. The fire began monday afternoon in Madera County in the foothills near oakhurst. Its now 40 contained. They are making progress. About 1,000 people had to be evacuated at one point but some are now allowed back into their homes. Louis county Prosecutors Office demanding justice in the Police Shooting death of unarmed black teen Michael Brown. There are calls to remove the prosecutor from the case because of his family connections to the police department. His policeman father was killed by a black suspect. So i know the pain that the brown family is going through right now. And its a loss that they deserve ultimately to to have everything put out there. Reporter a grand jury begins hearing evidence in the case today to determine if white Police Officer Darren Wilson should Face Criminal Charges in the killing. [ screaming ] reporter a night of peaceful protests turned violent again last night when bottles were hurled at police. 47 people were arrested and three handguns were seized. Police used pepper spray to disperse the crowd but didnt fire rubber bullets or tear gas. Those small steps will turn into giant steps and those giant steps will be Great Strides for this community. Reporter at least two thirds of this st. Louis suburb are black but there are only 4 black Police Officers on the police force of 58. Ferguson Officials Say they have been trying to get more blacks to apply to the police academy. This resident hopes some good will come from the chaos in this community. A bit of a scuffle on the streets today when two opposing sides met. A Woman Holding a sign in support of police and officer Darren Wilson came face to face with Michael Brown supporters. Police had to escort the woman aside. A prayer vigil for brown and the people of ferguson is planned in richmond tonight at 7 p. M. At the Miracle Temple on cutting boulevard. Some developing news over in the east bay. Traffic snarled during the morning commute after a man was killed on interstate 880. The victim apparently fell from an overpass and was fatally struck by a big rig below around 4 30 a. M. It happened just south of industrial boulevard in hayward. Two southbound lanes closed for more than two hours. Investigators are assessing now how that man fell in the first place. And the search is on today for a fremont teacher missing up in the sierra. 46yearold gregory muck lives in santa cruz, teaches the third grade at Gomes Elementary School in fremont. His wife says he left for Kings Canyon National park on august 10, supposed to return home on sunday. So far, no one has heard from him. Happening today, Raymond Shrimp Boy Chow wants to get rid of a gag order on his corruption case. He is expected in court in just about two hours. The alleged chinatown gangster has pleaded not guilty to racketeering and corruption charges. New at noon, a big celebration today for barts extension project in the south bay. Local leaders held a News Conference today to announce the final round of funding from the state for the project. The bart Silicon Valley project is a 16mile extension that will include stops at san jose, milpitas and santa clara. We are getting the last check of more than the 700 million promise that was made decades ago three governors countless other people engaged somehow california put it together and managed to deliver on their promise. That is a miracle. The 39 million installment brings the total funding for bart Silicon Valley to more than 700 million. I am here at camp arroyo one of my favorite spots in the entire bay area. The reason is, it is a big giant playground for kids with terminal and chronic illnesses and one of my favorite friends here, angie, is here to tell us about it. Tell us about camp arroyo. Its a place for kids to come who are not well, who are critical and terminal and they can come and experience summer camp for what its meant to be. Reporter so they are able to leave the hospitals and come enjoy a day outdoors. Absolutely. Not just any day. Its a day full of swimming and riding horses and climbing a rock and doing things they are not able to do. Someone is telling them, no, you cant do that. Here were telling them, yes, you can. Its a time for families to come out, siblings included, and get to know the outdoors and do things they just arent able to do when they are at home in the hospitals.
