First, lets check out the Google Maps App which shows this backup turning green and clearing up right at a walmart. Heres that same walmart in real life and heres that traffic clearing up. How it all got this good is a blend of old and new methods of gathering and analyzing data. It starts in the asphalt itself. Caltrans has embedded thousands of these sensors in more than 1500 lanes of road. The batteryoperated devices are spaced 20 feet apart and detect a change in pressure as vehicles pass over. The data is then transmitted to local caltrans headquarters in oakland where Tech Companies can download it. When youre stuck in traffic, youre losing productivity. Reporter then there is mountain viewbased wave which is crowdsourcing traffic reports with 60 million users. They proactively report incidents using the mobile app often as they drive by. That data is fed to waves Parent Company google so you not only know where the backup is but also whats causing it. It can shave minutes off a trip. You apply that to 50 million users and suddenly start to see really large global differences in the amount of overall time saved and emissions conserved and money conserved. Thats something big. Chase is here and today we are talki, jill chase is here and toda are talking about your pets dental care. Well, it is friday and that means were answering your pet questions. Dr. Jill chase is here to talk about your pets dental care. You have willie named after will clark . Yup. Willy, yes. He is only 3. 5 months old. We are going to be talking about cleaning teeth today. He is a little young. I dont usually start them this young when i teach the owners how to brush their pets teeth. He is adorable. Reporter when we were growing up nobody brushed dogs teeth. Their mouths would smell and they would get bacteria. And a lot of times we get Heart Disease and Kidney Disease as a result of that so i was thinking that today what id like to do is so this is a nice healthy mouth. Thank you. And this is what it looks like when theres a ton of tartar. See how red the gums are . We get inflammation and infection there. Its important not to have that happen. I have been pretty successful with my owners getting my pets owners to brush their teeth. They can avoid having a dental procedure performed on their pets. How often do you need to do it . Every day. I understand that people arist buy so i say at least five out of seven days would makemy happy. I understand people are busy. I like them to think its a treat, not an ordeal and it really probably takes about 10 seconds honestly. No kidding . And brushing is a little bit of a misnomer because i dont start them off with a toothbrush. I start them off with a toothpaste and put it on my finger and im actually left handed so let me switch so what i do, i dont know if you can see it this is actually great that we brought willie because he is too young for this but his teeth are perfect. But when you start brushing your pets teeth you might find them resistant. But they think its a treat. So lift up the lip and then tell them how great they are and do that for a week. Then next week go across the front to the other tooth. Work it in. And then the biggest piece of advice i could give is you have to see with your eyes these back teeth in the back. Otherwise, what i usually tend to find is owners are the know looking with their eyes, the front are beautifully clean but the back have tartar on them. It has a flavor on it . This one is poultry flavored but they come in different i love this particular brand. [ laughter ] so if you do this every day and youre really good about it and take as little time as i just showed, did really goes very smoothly. For older dogs, they get bad breath because of the plaque and if they put their face in your face i dont know enjoys that. So brush those teeth, right . Brush those teeth. Willy, you were a star.
