No buildings have been burned but firefighters are watching several homes very closely this morning. It did threaten one structure on clear creek road which firefighters were able to save. Authorities did set up an Emergency Shelter for evacuees at a local church but at last check, nobody had shown up there. And the fire is 25 contained. All right, time now is 6 02. In fact, we will likely see cloud cover lingering around the bay and along the coast today. And then we see should some sunshine further inland. One thing that is missing is the fog from the picture. The low visibility yesterday. And today we have a higher cloud deck. The low clouds are basically making for gray skies to start off your day. 60 degrees for most folks. And 50 at livermore. And 58 livermore and santa rosa. And 59 the current temperature in concord. Visibilitywise, we too have any significant problems on the roadway we dont have any significant problems on the roadway, and yesterday we saw a few feet of visibility and other areas along the coast and the low clouds have moved their way inland and we are going to start off a little gray and definitely staying cool throughout the day today. And in fact, staying cool all week long, what you see today is what you can expect for most of the week, temperaturewise, and however, big changes when it comes to rain, wet weather arriving, and thursday for the north bay, and friday morning for the rest of us, and a good soaking rain at that. And take a look at what future cast is showing at this hour. Pausing it at the friday morning commute. It looks like a soggy one. We can also anticipate some high winds, and breezy to windy condition, depending where you are. And Higher Elevations obviously the more wind you will see. And something to be mindful of. It is a two vehicle crash here, partially still blocking that left lane, obviously causing some very slow moving traffic, westbound, at just 19 miles an hour. And so we will keep you posted as to when that gets fully cleared out. Moving over to the bay bridge toll plaza. And traffic is backing up, past the 880 overpass here, and carquinez bridge, to the maze, along the east shore freeway, it will take you a pretty slow 27 to 30 minutes. And then expect a 15 to 20 minute drive through the toll plaza. Into downtown San Francisco. And moving over to the Altamont Pass, traffic is very slow conditions here, and 205, to the Altamont Pass, it will take you a heavy 30 minutes, while driving at just miles an hour. I wont even call that driving. 9 miles an hour. I wont even call that driving. That is inching your way to inland road and a solo crash veering off the road. And you can breathe a little bit through livermore though. But guess what. Slow traffic along the dublin interchange. A live look at that. Altamont pass to 680 westbound, it will take you 15 to 20 minutes. Lets take a look at the peninsula commute, slowing up along the san mateo bridge here and 80 to 101 westbound. About 1. 50 per night, plus the billionaire casino owner Sheldon Addleson would chip in 6 a million. The oakland mayor has made it clear while she wants the raiders to stay where they, are the city is not going to get into a bidding war with las vegas. It is not appropriate for oakland or almeda county to come up with 750 million in public funds. We are not repeating mistakes of the past. We are offering to finance the infrastructure. That could be upwards of 200 million. Not all nevada lawmakers want the raiders to come to sin city. Senator ruben you coulden called it a terrible idea in a recent op ed and wants the state to focus more on education before investing nearly 2 billion on a football stadium. Last night around 10 30, officers ronded to a report of a bod responded to a report of a body at a lowes parking lot and found a man with visible injuries and pronounced him dead on the scene. What we dont have is a lot of fog, and drizzle this morning. Instead, that cloud deck is up around 3,000 feet. So we have got the low clouds, and we will see gray skies as we head out the door this morning. Temperatures near 60 degrees. Pretty much areawide. A look at what to expect from the satellite perspective, here is what is changing, the ridge of High Pressure, it has been keeping us warm and dry and now for a shot to the southeast, we are looking at an area of low pressure developing over the aleutian islands, it brings with it some moisture, and combined with this, our jet stream. Notice the red here on the screen. It is indicating the strongest upper level winds. The jet stream normally positioned to the north. And the future cast showing by friday though, it is light over the bay area and that provides the lift needed for impressive storms. And impressive rainfall totals as well. The future cast showing right now, i think it is a little overpainted. Three to five inches possible over the northern portion of our state where the reservoirs are and great news, and i do think we will see closer to somewhere around two inches, for parts of the north bay, and closer to a half inch for the more impressive parts farther to the south and again the rain develops thursday night, into friday, and high temperatures today, though, we do stay dry, you will likely see clouds lingering along the coast and the bay. And some sun for folks inland. And temperatures staying on the cool side of average. In the low 70s for the warmest spots inland. 70 for san jose and Mountain View. And 60 in pacifica. And 62 in San Francisco. And today, overall, the temperatures are definitely on the cool side. And sunrise, today, 7 15, and sunset at 6 37. And your extended forecast, shows more of the same for the next few days. So we stay dry, but we increase cloud cover, and the temperatures do stay on the cool side of average. Through about thursday. And thursday night, rain develops up north. And friday the rest of us will likely see it by our friday morning commute. Or shortly thereafter. And saturday, we get a break, and then sunday, another chance of showers, back in the forecast. And how are the roadways . The roadways are getting slower as the morning progresses. 6 34. A look at the bay bridge toll plaza and the traffic backing up to the maze and the maze to downtown westbound, it will take you a heavy 20 minutes. Lets move over to vallejo. We have been reporting on the crash, causing some serious traffic here in the area. On westbound 80 as well. And this is before columbus parkway. And that twoweek vehicle crash is now clear but we have residual backups here along westbound 80 and traffic is moving at just about 30 miles an hour. Also, to the left here, you can see that there is slow traffic on highway 37. And as well, just 4 miles an hour. So pretty slow conditions throughout vallejo right now. And lets move over to the Altamont Pass. And very, very slow, here, if youre coming off 205, at just 7 miles an hour. And so you are inching your way here, into northland road. Where we had a solo car crash off the roadways now, and also right before that, greenville road, a threecar crash that is off the roadways as well. It is going to take you a heavy 50 minutes to get along the pass here into the dublin interchange. And here is a live look at that. Altamont pass, to 680 westbound, it will take you about 20 minutes. And lets move over to the san mateo bridge. The peninsula commute, slowing down a lot, if youre coming off the toll plaza here, 880 to 101 westbound. A slow 20 minutes and then inch your way throughout across the span and it will probably take you about 30 minutes. Lets move over to mass transit. If you want to avoid the traffic we just talked about, this is a good idea. Because there are no delays to report currently. Thank you. This morning, in oakland, supervisors decide how much it will cost to keep the raiders here at home. And kpix 5 jackie ward is live in the newsroom on why city leaders are moving quickly, as nevada lawmakers angle for the team. The board of supervisors is having a conference with the legal council, to go over the price and terms of what it would mean for the county, if the raiders were able to stay in oakland. And it is an issue that is going on for a while. But might speed up a bit due to a bill that is proposed in nevada. And legislators there seem to have a problem all mapped out. And billionaire casino owner silver addleson will invest 650 million plus a hotel tax of 1. 50 a night would be added and not everyone is thrilled with the idea. And the mayor wants to shift from a focus of football to what ask a bigger problem. We dont want a taxpayer handout by a billionaire when our Education System is in desperate need of help. And the oakland mayor doesnt want to sacrifice public funds to prevent the team from moving and she doesnt want to repeat mistakes of the past and referring to the last 180 million deal for a stadium that went bust and wound up costing oakland and almeda taxpayers 20 million a year. Time is 6 47. Lets get a check of traffic. With roqui. Lets start in walnut creek. A new crash to update you on. Causing slowdowns heading down 680. Westbound 24, at the 680 split here, it is a threecar crash. And it is off to the shoulder. But as you can see, some slowdowns here. Between 242 and 680 split, just 15 miles an hour. And then once you get on 24, you are driving at about 30 miles an hour. And lets move over to slowdowns on westbound 80, in vallejo. We did report an earlier crash, here, it is all clear. And still some residual backups causes some problems along the stretch here. And just 20 miles an hour. So traffic moving pretty slowly. And also, slow traffic on highway 37, at just 3 miles an hour. So pretty slow conditions in vallejo as well. And same story here, at the bay bridge toll plaza. If you can see this, youve got traffic backing up all the way into the maze now. And the maze to downtown westbound, it will take you a heavy 23 minutes. And lets move over to the Altamont Pass, our hot spot, of the morning, it is coming off 205 at just 7 miles an hour. And so you are inching your way into livermore here, and we did have two crashes causing some chaos, right there at northland road and greenville way. And 205 to the Altamont Pass, it will take you a heavy 46 minutes. So it is difficult on the Altamont Pass. How is it looking over there . Better news, julie . Better news when it comes to rain. Pretty impressive rainfall totals by the end of the week. Great news when we are looking ahead to future droughts. In the meantime what we will talk about today is the cooler temperatures. A look at the Golden Gate Bridge. What you dont see here is fog. Now yesterday, at this time, we can barely see the bridge. And today, that cloud deck is much higher at 3,000 feet. So low clouds the story for most starting out this morning. And temperaturewise, we are mild. Near 60 degrees, for the warmer locations like oakland, and san jose, and 57 in San Francisco and 54 up north in sant row sax and the ridge of High Pressure, which has been holding off the storm track is sinking south and we dont have the area of High Pressure that is clearing out skies and bringing with it warm temperatures. Instead we are focusing on a weather system making its way inland by friday. We combine that with the jet stream that is sinking south. Right over the top of us. Now normally the jet stream, the strongest upper level winds, to our north. And this helps to enhance any storm system that we see. And it provides the lift needed to get those impressive rainfall totals. Normally it is over the pacific northwest. And coming friday, the future cast is forecasting it right over the top of the bay area. And with it, we do think we will see some pretty impressive rainfall totals. Future cast showing upwards of three to five inches. A bit overpainted for this weather model but substantial rainfall nonetheless for the northern portion of the state. Where all of our reservoirs are and not getting rid of the drought but it is definitely going to add to the rain bucket which is nice, and also going to see some pretty impressive totals over the sierra. Back in the bay, impressive rainfall totals in the north bay. A couple of inches up there. And elsewhere in the Higher Elevations farther south. Most folks farther south seeing closer to a half an inch. And showers friday morning 8 00 a. M. The friday morning commute could be a little bit soggy for you. Today, we stay dry and dry for the next few day. High pressures in the low 70s. Inland for the warmest spots. And 60s by the bay. And low 60s along the coast. And sunrise today, at 7 15 and the sunset is 6 37. And your extended forecast shows not a lot of change. Increasing cloud cover, wednesday and thursday. And it is thursday night, into friday that the system moves in, bringing with it showers first to the north bay and then the rest of us by friday. And a break on saturday.
