Reporter ann, he along with others were literally running for their lives when the fire broke out this afternoon. Its a threealarm fire. It happened around 4 00 at the corner of 15th and church streets. The fire caused is Severe Damage to a house and mixed use building. Witnesses say it appears the fire first started at the house and quickly spread to the building next door. Its a threestory building first floor is a market. Second and third floors are apartments. Now, the good news is no one was injured in the fire. Firefighters did rescue a cat that apparently inhaled some snow cover. We talked to the other than of the first story market. He and his wife were working inside when someone ran inside to alert them about the fire. [ indiscernible ] wheres the fire. I go outside. Big fire. I call 911 right away. Reporter you were running for your life of course. Me and my wife and, um, we run away. So the police comes they told me to go out and stay away from the building. Reporter heres a map showing the current fire in the castro. Again, 15th street and church street. This is the second major fire in the area in a month. Back on january 28, over on 22nd and in the mission street, a fouralarm fire destroyed a large complex sending about 50 people homeless and again the nearby mission district. Back live, you can see still a very active scene. Police have closed the area to traffic. Firefighters are watching for hot spots. They are investigating the cause of the fire. Kpix 5s da lin kpix 5. Another developing story demanding attention of emergency crews. San Francisco Police and fire crews are dealing with a sinkhole at franklin and grove streets in the civic center neighborhood. It started as a water main break. Two pedestrians have been hit one seriously injured. It happened in the area of mount vista drive and south white road early this afternoon. Kpix 5s Christian Hartnett is there to tell us how it happened. Reporter s scary scene out here this afternoon. And right now, police still have an entire block of white road closed where the accident happened. This man went on a drunken rampage on the road according to police, after pulling out of a parking lot down white road. Now, after he pulled out of that parking lot, he flung wide according to police and hit clipped a car that was traveling in the opposite direction down white road. After that, the driver did not stop. Kept going for another few hundred yards. And then at that point hopped the curb and plowed into a fruit stand that was on the sidewalk. A couple of people were hit. One woman and one man. Police say that the woman had less severe injuries and the man has lifethreatening injuries. Both of those two were taken to the hospital. The driver then hit a fence in fronts of a house and kept going and finally stopped as he hit a parked car. Now, police did arrest him for driving under the influence. Police say it was clear that this man was severely drunk. He was driving erratic. Obviously, the vehicle, the first vehicle he hit, was probably, you know, four, five hundred yards from the second scene. So all indication is that he was potentially fleeing from the first accident when he had the second accident. Reporter this man again was arrested for driving under the influence. He was transported to the hospital for some minor injuries but he is okay according to police. Now, as i mentioned earlier, this block here whole block of white road where it hit mount vista drive is blocked off. Police say that they are going to continue their investigation. Should be blocked off for another three hours. So avoid this area if you can. Live in san jose, Christian Hartnett, kpix 5. Tonight Oakland Police are offering a 15,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of a hitandrun driver. The driver ran away after hitting two pedestrians crossing the street at 32nd and san pablo yesterday. One of them died. The other is said to be in critical condition. Police think the speeding car was probably involved in a street race. Right now were just about 30 minutes away from history at levis stadium. The sharks are about to play the Los Angeles Kings in what will be the first hockey game at the stadium. The team got in a workout yesterday and tested the ice. It looks and feels more like a 49ers game in the parking lot right now. We found lots of fans tailgating with barbecues going and playing street hockey. Its not often you can enjoy a hockey game outside in february with weather that feels more like spring. Fans are certainly digging the once in a lifetime opportunity. I think its awesome. Its cool for the bay area. Its cool for california hockey. Its awesome. This game is sold out. About 70,000 fans are expected to fill levis stadium. This is actually the second outdoor hockey game to be played in california. The kings played at Dodger Stadium last season. Vern will be along in a few minutes with a look at whats at stake in tonights stadium series. Dock workers are going back to work at the port of oakland tonight. This means cargo will start getting loaded and unloaded again. But it could be a while before things are close to normal. Many ships have been sitting on the water near the port of oakland waiting for the dispute to end. It could take two months to get things back on track. The ship containers, the truck trailers that carry the containers, none of them are where they need to be. Reneed to restore that balance of assets before we really get back to normal. The contract needs to be ratified. During Christian Hartnetts story out of san jose that somebody yelled a profanity in a car driving by. We apologize to the viewers who heard that profanity. I need a officer over here. A chaotic scene and a confrontation that leads to a Fatal Police Shooting. Well hear the first 911 calls for help. Very excited. On a scale of one to ten, 11. A store guard called police to report a suspected shoplifter. She is trying to [ indiscernible ] he said yuvette stole merchandise. As he tried to coax her back inside, he says she pulled out a gun. She pulled out a gun. She pulled out a gun. Yeah, she just pulled out a gun. Shes running. Are you going to send somebody over here . She pulled out a gun on us. When police arrived, they chased Yuvette Henderson on foot before shooting her twice killing her. Today outside the home depot where it happened several protestors closed the store for five hours demanding justice for henderson. They want the store security tapes released including the minutes before she confronted police when she said she was injured. It is time again to pull out the dictionary. The regional spelling bee is just weeks away and today, sharon chin says 200 kids showed up hoping to win a spot on stage. Everyone good luck. And some of that from San Juan Capistrano south of the bay area. So if you are heading south it might get a little showery and theres also a possibility of a thunderstorm. By the way that low pressure is going to trigger the potential for shower or two in the mountains. Snow shower. Overnight lows tonight mostly in the 40s.
