The law would have required gun owners with magazines capable of holding more than 10 rounds of ammunition to get rid of those clips and it would have required certain people buying ammunition to undergo a background check. But the big question was just how many people were going to voluntarily turn in those magazines . The law gave gun owners some options. Either move those magazines out of state, get rid of them, turn them in to Law Enforcement or sell them to a licensed dealer or destroy them altogether. All of this had to be done by saturday. For now, gun owners wont have to do anything because a federal judge has blocked the law from going into effect. This judges ruling just coming in. Flames got close to homes. People grabbed their garden hoses to protect property. That fire broke out in a field at Penitencia Creek road and viceroy way. Take a look at video chopper 5 got just a little while ago of people taking action by grabbing their hoses as you said not only trying to put out the flames but also trying to keep it from jumping to their homes. You can see just how close their homes were to that fire. Literally just steps away. Now, this fire started around 4 00 in a field across the street from the homes. So lots of dry brush. One woman tells us how she and her neighbors helped fight the fire. The wind just kept pushing it over almost got our neighbors house and we all came out as a neighborhood with our hoses. Reporter and as you mentioned, the Wildlife Center of Silicon Valley evacuated, no buildings or homes were damaged in this grass fire. There are literally dozens of churches that serve here on any given sunday and any weekdays. Reporter this man says that serving here for over 20 years, it may be for not much longer. San jose is cracking down and threatening to Issue Citations to anyone serving food at st. James park. I dont know what the citys really going to do about dealing with the homeless problem but i know the churches want to resist this because they dont see an alternative. Reporter the city has had a longstanding ordinance regulating the serving of food at all city parks and permits are required. At st. James, the city says serving the homeless has had unintended consequences. Theres a lot of litter, discard the food, the next thing you have rodents, and the neighborhood surrounding the park starts to feel not particularly welcome at the park because of the blight. Reporter the city says it wants to work out a plan for the homeless feedings to continue its soup kitchens within blocks of the park. The city has got plans for downtown and i think that theres a real strategy afoot to move the homeless to different spots. The city wants to tear down the willow glen trestle and replace it with a steel footbridge. But some locals have been fighting to have it preserved as a symbol of the regions agriculture past. Last month a state commission agreed to save it. But in a letter, San Jose City manager is telling the commissioners they had some bad information. The issue is going to come up again when the California Historical Resources Commission meets next month. Police had to evacuate a san jose safeway after a man with a gun robbed the pharmacy. This was a day of substantial losses on wall street partly because of widespread selling of tech stocks. The dow jones down nearly 170 points. The nasdaq dropped about 90. The s p lost more than 20. Russian river brewery plans to sell its original Sonoma County production facility. Equipment at the santa rosa location has produced some of the worlds most celebrated beers from pliny the younger and elder. They have the capacity to make up to 20,000 barrels annually. The price is negotiable. But it will likely be a few million dollars. The taproom will still be open until they find a buyer. While Russian River gets ready to open a new facility and restaurant. A hot air balloon carrying tourists made an Emergency Landing in santa rosa this morning. Police say the balloon came down in a parking lot just east of 101. According to the pressdemocrat, two people visiting from tennessee were on board along with a local pilot. Thankfully, no one was injured. The pilot says the wind was an issue and wanted to land in a safe spot. Ah, the wind, paul. The issue. The weather gets blamed a lot. And with hot air balloons, glad everybody is safe there. Yeah. But the marine layer is getting compressed by building area of High Pressure which will not allow the cloud cover to push that far inland. So you will be cloudy in oakland and San Francisco with lows in the mid50s. You will not be cloudy in fairfield. Likely not cloudy in napa. And not cloudy in san jose. Mid50s your lows, as well. Opera at the ballpark. How about a chance to go to at t park for free and not watch a baseball game but watch an opera on the big screen . It sounds cool. You just change your plans for tomorrow. That marine layer which is thick in the beginning of the week not as thick now. Cant make it over the east bay hills. Most inland towns not dealing with the marine air. Thats key for the next couple of days. The ridge doesnt move. So the clouds wont push inland. Hayward tomorrow morning, youre cloudy. Not too far away livermore and pleasanton dublin not cloudy tomorrow morning. By the afternoon, everybody is sunny even the coast will see minimal cloud cover in the afternoon.
