Speak at the summit. As you can see, we are taking a look at those ospreys who just landed on crissy field. I think marine 1 might be coming right now making its final turn on the field. Im sure at this point i cant quite see that far. Im not sure what you can see with the extended zoom of our camera but that could be the president landing on crissy field right now. [ pause ] marine 1 is making its way in. That was an impressive view of the ospreys. The president will stay in San Francisco tonight. Obama here in the bay area for this event thats going to take place in stanford. He be speaking with various tech leaders. Tonight he is apparently staying at the interrer continental hotel. It was interesting to see when those ospreys landed d the first people off of those seemed to be some of the military. Of course, along with the president s stay we can probably expect heavy traffic in the city. Especially in the south of market area. Its going to be bad. Worse than the normal commute. So the president has landed safely. Marine 1 has touched down at crissy field and well be keeping track of the president s stay throughout the night but again, its just one night here in San Francisco for the big tech Conference Tomorrow at stanford with zuckerberg and john kerrys going to be here along with the ceos of uber. [ pause ] andria borba has been on crissy field. Whats your perspective . Are there lots of people there around crissy field . Whats going on in the area right now . Reporter from where im standing right now, im seeing probably about around 100 people who gated in here behind barricades. The secret service has been out here for hours sweeping the area. We parked our live truck in one location. Were told that we needed, in fact, to move and get behind more gates. We have another right now that you can see we have another helicopter landing here on crissy field as we speak here on live television. There has been a massive security presence, of course, park police, San Francisco police, about 50 Police Officers on motorcycles. They of course will escort the president around the city of San Francisco. Allen, veronica . Yeah. And ken bastida standing by just pointing out, you know, with two identical helicopters you never know which one actually carries the president so this could in fact be the one and thats why they do it. Thats why they do it. So people dont know exactly which one he is in. Are you still with us, andria borba . Reporter i am. So will you be following the president tonight . Im wondering, what is the access going to be . What do you know as far as his appearances . What are you going to be allowed to see and do and cover . Reporter as far as appearances, its standard in San Francisco. We kind of follow him around the city based on what people are seeing. We are not allowed within two or three blocks. One of the last trips he took here he had dinner at spruce up in presidio heights. He had it with elon musk, of course, the ceo of tesla. We dont know exactly what his plans are tonight. His schedule appears to be open. Probably doubtful that he will stay inside the Intercontinental Hotel tonight. It will be a question of where in fact he pops up. And before he arrived here at crissy field, he actually touched down, um, where wasser, a. M. Len . He was actually in mountain view, right . At moffett field. Moffett field. Its interesting to see how different it is, his last year in the presidency. His schedule not quite so tight. You know . Giving himself a little bit more leeway, i think, to be able to sort of enjoy some of the things we saw him at the national parks, at yosemite in fact last week, and, um, and taking his family. I think he is trying to enjoy a little bit more breathing room in his schedule if thats even possible for a president. Thats right. He did spend some time up in yosemite with his family. And, um, you know, once he was on the ground in moffett, he stepped off the plane, he was greeted by the mayor there, he spent just a little bit of time with, um, some local politicians, of course, before getting back on to marine 1 and taking off for crissy field so were looking at live pictures right now of the president landing here in crissy field as he arrives for this big tech conference thats going to take place tomorrow at stanford. No Public Events for the president tonight. So he is pretty much on his own schedule. So thats why i was asking if the press has been given any direct availability but as she said no not really so its his schedule and, um, theres really no fundraising involved that we have been told about, just a big tech Conference Tomorrow. Its gorgeous in the bay area right now. He is touching down. And julie watts is standing by and she has been keeping track of the weather. Doesnt it really seem like theres a cloud in the sky right now just one of those perfect San Francisco days, right . Perfect day. Like theres nothing. No marine layer, no fog. You can be in shirt sleeves. Its gorgeous. And breezy. A little windy . We have a nice sea breeze out there right now. I dont know how that affected the landing there if at all. But definitely a bit of a sea breeze out there. A little chilly, im sure, on the marine i think i heard andria borba say he is on the move. Kind of hard to see because we cant zoom in tight enough. Reporter the motorcade is moving from its position on mason street on crissy field right now, allen, and appears to be headed out of the area. Sfpd is vacating quickly to follow him out of crissy field and into the Intercontinental Hotel. He could have been on the first one and, of course, the big press corps that travels with him, they have to come in, too. So its quite an entourage. The president is now in the bay area and staying overnight in San Francisco and then the big tech Conference Tomorrow. So expect the usual president ial traffic delays. Yup. Yup. Got to pack that patience. Andria borba live for us there in crissy field, im sure we going to be checking back with you to get more on the president s visit. Thank you. Now as kpix 5s da lin shows us, somegun control advocates say her death shows exactly why tougher gun laws are needed. Reporter it was a funeral fit for a princess. A horsedrawn carriage carrying the casket of a 16yearold girl in east oakland. Police say Regina Jeffries was caught in the crossfire last week while attending a vigil for two friends who had drowned last month. The killing angered many people including congresswoman barbara lee. She brought reg and as picture to the house floor and dedicated the marathon setting to the High School Student and other oakland homicide victims. House democrats also want to ban people on the no fly list from buying a gun following the orlando shooting. We are going to win this and were going to get these weapons of war off of the streets of oakland. Reporter republicans called the sitin a political stunt. Some local gun owners agree. You cant just have these people acting like children like im not going to do it and im not going to do so we are just going to sit here at a stalemate. Reporter gun owners say criminals like the one who killed regina will get their guns one way or another. Gun laws dont do anything. Thats not going to somebody is always going to get a gun illegal, make it, whatever. If someone wants a gun, they will get it. Reporter in terms of action, there was nothing. Its unlikely they will vote on any kind of gun control legislation anytime soon. Im da lin, kpix 5. Police do not believe that the girl who died was targeted. Three other young people who were wounded are expected to survive. Bay area congresswoman Jackie Speier made a dramatic argument for gun control during the sitin at the capital this morning. She brought out a bullet that nearly killed her in the jonestown massacre. And i keep this in a drawer. I have never had it out in public before. The five bullets ripped through my body. I cant begin to tell you what that was like. I cant begin to tell you what its like to live with a disfigured body. The rest of your life. Jackie speier was on a Factfinding Mission when she was shot five times during the 1978 massacre in guyana. She says the bullet and her scars remind her of the toll of gun and why its important to put limits on the ability to purchase firearms. Meantime, Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsoms package of gun control measures has officially qualified for the november ballot. The measures would require background checks for ammo purchases. A ban on possession of ammunition magazines holding more than 10 rounds. And would mandate felony charges for gun thefts. Another looks like San Francisco Police Officers will have new rules on when they are allowed to use deadly force. Ken bastida joins us now with details. Reporter veronica, civil Rights Groups claim that San Francisco Police Officers have become trigger happy using deadly force even when its not necessary. Now the Police Commission says its come up with a compromise pushing some new changes in policy. The december shooting of mario woods is just one of the cases sparking the debate over the use of force. Now, woods had a knife but some say he wasnt actively threatening police when he was shot and killed. Whatever that means. A proposal just approved by the San Francisco Police Commission puts the emphasis on deescalation, moving forward. It would also stop the use of carotid chokeholds and firing at moving vehicles unless they pose a direct threat but some say those practices have been proven to work. And banning them takes away officers options in a tense situation. If were not given those tools, if our hands are tied, it will put the officers in greater harms way and it will jeopardize the safety of the citizens. The president of the Police Officers Association Says more compromise must be reached. Mayor lee admits that any changes will take a lot of work. I think that both new and experienced officers, they need to be retrained in all of this because youre coming upon situations where people will go to their instincts and we have to change those cultural instincts to make sure that we preserve life as much as possible and also not endanger the officers. Now these new proposals will head to the unions for negotiation and back to the commission for a final vote before it is adopted departmentwide. Back to you. Thank you.
