It would in effect allow teachers to be fired arbitrarily, subjectively, without due process. Reporter the plaintiffs a group called students matter said, every student deserves a great public education. Yet californias education laws make this impossible. Today the courts failed to safeguard students constitutional rights. State superintendent of schools Tom Torlakson also issued a statement saying today applauds the ruling and says that teachers are part of what makes california schools great and not the problem in california. Live in san jose, len ramirez, kpix 5. Because there is an appeal, so basically for right now nothing changes while that appeal is happening . New at clock a new push to level the Playing Field even more between men and women. Unequal payday california lawmakers took steps to tackle another form of gender discrimination. Obviously the mens is larger mens and womens. Obviously the mens is larger than the womens but this is still 2 more. The difference is more than pink versus blue packaging. It also comes down to dollar signs. And now california lawmakers aim to end price discrimination between the cost of womens an mens goods like clothes and toiletries. So gender bias is the real thing and if its geared towards a woman its going to be significantly higher. Look at razors for example. Reporter a study found 42 of the time womens products are more expensive than mens. Women pay an average of 7 more per item. That would be illegal under this proposed bill in the senate. It shouldnt cost more because its a womans product than a mans. Its the same ingredients. Reporter while it would be great for women, retailers say it would be a pain. The California Retailers Association says it would be, quote, impossible to coordinate the pricing of these goods when placed on the retail market. It would require different pricing standards for california than for other states. So while the idea is nice, the reality is likely a long way off. The people that are used to charging more for womens products will find a way to distinguish it saying its a different ingredients or made differently. Thats the way capitalism works. Its the commercial world. The retailer wont want to let go of that the ability to have a higher priced item that they know women will spend more for. Reporter the Senate Judiciary committee voted on that today. The next move it will go forward and be voted on by the state senate. Hopefully industries will take note. Quick, got it. The warriors are very impressive. The season that the warriors set records for most road wins, best start to a season, when they went 240, longest home winning streak and, of course, most wins in a single season. I never in a million years would have guessed that that record would ever be broken. I thought it was like dimaggios hit streak really. And i was wrong. But i will say the same thing now i said 20 years ago. I dont think this one will ever be broken. And winning 73 games also gives the warriors the last laugh with all the former players who have been so critical of golden states success over the last few years. The sour grapes taste sweet to the warriors now though. We dont do anything to try to make a claim to anyone. I mean at the end of the day our championship was luck last year and, you know, we have lucked our way into 73 wins this year. If anybody asks me about anything in 20 years i am going to say everyone sucked and we were the best and back in my day, um, and the games changed just, you know, its just watered down and its crap and thats basically what im going to say in 20 years so i can fit in with everybody else. The warriors are getting plenty of respect from las vegas. Golden state enters the play offs as the favorite to win the championship. They will take on the rockets in the first round. Houston, we have a problem local tv station in houston read a poll for the rockets chances in the first round. 100 voted the warriors will win the series but this i can guarantee no player on either team will take 50 shots in a game. I go through 20 years of everybody screaming to pass the ball during the last night they like dont pass it [ laughter ] well, kobe bryant certainly listened to that advice last night in his final game. He scored 60 points. He took an nba record 50 shots. While some saw its a turn back the clock performance it was all too new to kobes two daughters. The coolest things is that my kids saw me play like i used to play. [ laughter ] you know what i mean . It was like whoa, dad yeah, i used to do this pretty often. Like dude, youtube it. You know what i mean . [ laughter ] 60 points. Giants reliever sergio romo has been placed on the dl with an elbow strain and will not throw for at least two weeks.
