Reporter Rachel Gordon of public works explains it takes a lot to take down a tree. She says homeowners who want to remove a tree considered City Property have to do more than just ask. They must apply for a 339 permit an application that in robles case the city says will automatically be denied at which point he will have to appeal and have a hearing. We want to have the safeguards in place. Reporter but most cities in california make homeowners jump through similar hoops some cases requiring a permit to even prune a tree or remove one from their own policies that come as a shock to many like robles who is frustrated that the city is making him go out on a limb to make his case. The tree has more rights than we do. Well, the city says it sends an arborist once a month to monitor that tree. Mr. Deanno, i rarely get to see you. I know. Usually one or the other. Youre looking hale and hearty. We are looking at a huge pattern change. Yeah. Its something we have a week where it rains every day . The answer from Mother Nature for 150 straight weeks has been no. Guess what . The answer is changed. The answer is yes. It starts on saturday what a beautiful thanksgiving evening if you are just wrapping up your meal maybe want to run out there before the Football Game begins. The weather is mild. We are in the 60s and mainly clear albeit hazy. Mild in oakland 66. Cooler in the lower 60s san bruno, san jose, and santa rosa. The high today in minneapolis was 12 just as to give you a little perspective. The rain will begin north of santa rosa and this will begin a series of storms with a high impact on us. The highest impact will be for traveling folks driving home from grandmas house on saturday and sunday. The commute on monday, tuesday, wednesday a very high impact. Much less so when it comes to flooding. There will be street flooding but no widespread river flooding and wind will be an issue albeit a low to moderate one. So we are talking about a lot of rainfall. Heres the setup. The same ridge that is keeping us dry and has kept us dry for the past five days will now help steer this series of storms in. Tomorrow morning cloudy. The ridge staying just to the south keeping the storm track right over top of us for about 5 Straight Days. It absolutely will not end the drought but it will be a drought denting rainfall for about five Straight Days. Its not going to rain for five Straight Days without pause. Heres whats going to happen. Cloud cover rolling in tomorrow morning. Rain beginning in the north bay tomorrow evening. Watch every time i stop this. Its not raining everywhere but theres a lot of rain on the map. Thats saturday morning. This is saturday afternoon. This is saturday night. And sunday morning and it continues through monday, tuesday, wednesday. It wont be a fiveday washout but there will be rain at times some of that rain will be coming down heavily and it will add up. At a minimum most of the bay area will receive 1. 5 to two inches of rainfall some of you double or triple that in the Higher Elevations of the north bay. Thats a nice dent in the drought. So the rain will arrive beginning friday evening working its way from north to south. Well have onandoff rain more on than off for five Straight Days and some of that israel will be steady to heavy at times and the biggest impact will be on drivers coming home this weekend and the commutes will be messy for three of the five days next week at a minimum. Highs tomorrow it will feel cooler but we are still above average. Concord 64. Normal 60. San jose you go cloudy late morning 66 for you. Redwood city 64. Benicia 62. Cloudy skies. Might see showers toward santa rosa about 7 00 tomorrow night 59. It will be raining in ukiah by midafternoon high of 56 degrees. This is the wettest sevenday forecast i have shown oh, gosh, in about two years. Saturday through wednesday, you might be wondering, hey, paul, what is the heaviest rain . No answer. Well have a little sunshine but the deal is, a fiveday window light to moderate rainfall with some pockets of heavier rainfall. When it comes down, this has a tropical connection so its going to pour at times. And we need every drop. Absolutely. It sounds like the ideal situation though. Youre getting a little bit of a break then heavy stuff which we need and then a break so that might be great. What do we want . The rain. What dont we want . The flooding. If you stretch it out over five days it doesnt all come down at once its not a huge amount of rainfall youre right. This has the potential to be exactly what we need. Im going to get greedy now. Can we get like five of these this winter . Can we get five weeks of this . We got one. It will help a lot. Hopefully it will snow in tahoe. The snow level is going to be high. The highest elevations above 6,000, 7,000 feet snow will fall there. If you are a skier saying yes its going to be more rain than snow but well take precipitation anywhere we can get it and here it comes. Got to start somewhere. It starts. Thank you.
