We do have some problems here in gilroy still from yesterday. Highway 152 between watsonville road and Mount Madonna park is still closed due flooding. But chp says it might open mid morning. It happened minutes before the show in oakland. The manager of the club says that bassist Marc Van Wageningen and drummer Dave Garibaldi were rushing to yoshis from their hotel. They waited for one train to pass and tried to run across. Thats when they were hit by another train going in the opposite direction. People who were waiting for the concert to start had no idea what happened. We noticed that there were we noticed that there were, like, flashing from the police cars and everything. We saw the train stopped on the tracks. But we didnt hear anything. We assumed there was an accident. We werent sure. We did hear the ambulance. At the same time the Pacheco Creek was flooding in another area flooding hundreds of acres on both sides of the creek stranding livestock and damaging homes. Rescue crews rescued nearly 50 people. Searchandrescue did a great job of notifying people but they just didnt have time. I dont think that they knew what was coming. Reporter all right. Over on the Santa Cruz Mountains we also saw the San Lorenzo River breach its banks also flooding homes over there and were learning today the usgs will be out at Santa Cruz Beach at the mouth of the San Lorenzo River. They want to try to figure out how major storm events shape and erode our coastline. Meantime, right now, again, people here who live here in hollister are being told that their tap water could be contaminated to avoid drinking it and yesterday they were giving out bottled water were assuming again today that they will be handling out boat eld water again. No timeline as to when they can drink their water again. Live in hollister, maria medina, kpix 5. Meanwhile in santa cruz crews are making progress fixing a Drinking Water pipeline. On monday, the new well creek pipeline burst out 1500 gallons of water for hours before it was shut down. Then they turned to residents with a major request to cut back on water use by 30 . They want that level maintained until the repairs are completed. In the east bay, a gaping sinkhole is spelling trouble for sewer lines and derailing commutes for thousands of people. Sky drone 5 caught a close look at this trouble spot on miner road. Its about 25 feet wide and15 feet long. It dips 20 feet below ground. It will take at least three weeks to repair. Crews are working to repair another big sinkhole. You can see it here from sky drone 5. This one is in pinole. Its ruined Alhambra Valley road at the intersection of pinole valley road. There are still pieces of the road on the ground and right down the middle a small stream. Its about 100 feet long and 30 feet deep. Two Alaska Airlines flight attendants are recovering after being sick on a flight from seattle to san jose. Authorities say it happened when a chemical used to deice the plane in seattle leaked into the cab bin. Hazmat crews checked out the plane, no passengers were sickened. Only one of the flight attendants had to be hospitalized. Hundreds of students across San Francisco will walk out of class today with permission. Ace, muni and caltrain are on time. Okay, moving to our roadways now, take a look at the foggy bay bridge toll plaza. Those metering lights are on. Traffic is starting to back up towards the maze. So from the carquinez bridge to the maze will take you about 19 to 20 minutes and expect 15 minutes through the toll plaza into downtown San Francisco. A look at the nimitz looking good in both directions on 880 northbound from 238 in san leandro to the maze, thats about 16 minutes. And across the span of the san mateo bridge from hayward to foster city, traffic is moving pretty smoothly there, as well. Now, moving over to the Altamont Pass, coming out of tracy youre moving pretty well and then north flynn road at 35 Miles Per Hour so thats pretty slow but definitely could be worse so well take it, right . But if you are traveling along the Golden Gate Bridge from marin county into San Francisco from 580 to the golden gate toll plaza, that will take you about 14 minutes. Yesterday, some families started returning home in guerneville. Many of them didnt know what to expect. My friends called me and said, do you know that your house is under water . And so, i was like oh, my the Russian River peaked at nearly 38 feet, which is about 6 feet above flood stage. Today in hollister residents are getting Water Bottles from the city as officials investigate possible contamination to the low supply. Recent storms spelled great news for californias dry conditions. After days and days of heavy rain, the bay area is now officially out of the drought. Just a year ago, 97 of the state was in dire need of water. Thanks to relentless downpours, more than 40 of california has now come out of the fiveyear drought. Still, officials warn its not the time to revert to old ways and use water recklessly. We have made some permanent changes and those changes are going to help us for the next drought. It could be just around the corner. Experts say it could take several years of above average rainfall to replenish ground water reserves. People in the Central Valley rely on them most. So thats what you were saying yesterday. You will still take the two, three minute showers. Youre not changing anything. Its a habit now. Something i have learned and my sons have learned and i think well really try to implement that for the rest of our lives. And ill track the next big storm heading this way, thats still coming up at 48 after the hour. Vallejo police have released a sketch of one of two suspects accused of killing a pawn shop owner. Officers describe the suspect as a white man about 18 to 20. He is tall with thin and blonde hair and blue eyes. Police also released the Surveillance Video this week of the two masked gunmen rushing in to Pawn Advantage on december 20. The footage shows these men only had their noses and mouths covered when they started shooting. The gunman killed owner and also shot a 45yearold employee and killed a dog in that store. Vallejo police are hoping that someone will recognize the suspects and come forward with information on the crime. Jaywalking in San Francisco is not new and now police are increasing efforts to do something about it. Officers are giving tickets to jaywalkers as well as bicyclists who make illegal moves.
