A lot of officers have left the department already, and there are currently only 812 street ready officers which is down from nearly 1400 to try to fix the problem, the department started putting officers from specialized units back out on patrol yesterday. The major said this is only a temporary solution. This is just a band aid. We have a lot of tired officers out there. We need get more patrol officers. The real solution 20 pass the measure in november. That will allow us to hire and retain officers again.
