Pharmacists tell cate cauguiran theyve never seen anything like it. Reporter imagine being the patient in. This case it happened to me and i couldnt find it anywhere at any walgreens when i was sick. On top of that i called cvs, safeway locations not just in San Francisco, in oakland and also in san jose and theyre out of it, too. It was new years eve. Instead of earn jet energetically getting ready to celebrate i was at a farm. The sneezing, headaches and pharmacy. The sneezing, headaches and a lot of coughing, but when i went to pick up my prescription cough medication, it was out, not just at my walgreens pharmacy, but my pharmacist said in all of San Francisco. So i waited. A week goes by. Another pharmacist tells me the same thing but told me they didnt expect another shipment until february, but today i got a call. It was in, but there was a catch. I had to pick it up at a pharmacy across town and the pharmacist at the walgreens where i picked up my cough medications says theyre so strapped for resources theyre only handing out 4 ounces at a time even if your prescription calls for more. Its certainly very unusual that a generic medication with codeine cough syrup would run out. Reporter dr. Abramson said hes been busy. The cold and flu are the no. 1 culprit. Theres not as much incentive for generic manufacturers to keep large stores of reserves in medication, so theyre cutting it a lot closer so when theres a big surge in demand, things just run out. Reporter its not just a problem in the bay area. Were also finding out pharmacies in l. A. Are also running low on this prescription cough medication. So again its a problem statewide. So many people are sick right now, there are a lot of people in the building. I think allen might be coming down with a little something. He wants to know are over the counters the only option here . Reporter well, when i spoke to the doctor today, he told me yes, there is an alternative. Its actually benzonitate and its a capsule, but it doesnt work quite the same way. There was chanting about black lives matter on this Martin Luther king, jr. Holiday, but they were also carrying this, a palestinian flag. Each of the 68 protesters is getting slammed with two misdemeanors for obstructing movement and preventing passage. They were running out of gas. A lot of people needed to use the restroom. They were stuck on the bridge for hours. So this is something that inconveniences the public and again everybody has the right to travel on the freeway. Reporter the protest turned highway 92 into a parking lot with many frustrated drivers turning around at the toll plaza and driving the wrong way to get out of the snarl. Any sympathy drivers might have had for the protesters quickly evaporated in a sea of brake lights. I think theyre not accomplishing anything by this protest because all it does is anger people. Passengers on a delta flight from sfo landed at new yorks jfk tonight and saw lots of Police Outside the windows. Thats because someone made a threat against that plane while it was in the air. Security agents directed that boeing 757 to a remote part of the airport, then escorted the 171 passengers off the plane. The search of that plane turned up nothing unusual. This Instagram Video from inside the plane shows passengers getting ready to evacuate. The captain is giving some instructions over the intercom. Another video shows where passengers had to walk on the tarmac to buses waiting to take them to the terminal.
