Reno police say the s uv slid off the road and rolled into a nearby ravine. The driver was not hurt. And, this rollover crash happened earlier this morning around 6 30. Sparks police say the suv slid on rock boulevard, and rolled down into rock park. It took crews more than an hour to move the vehicle. This driver, was also uninjured. And several crashes held up traffic on i580 near glendale avenue. The first crash happened around 3 30 in the morning. Followed by four more crashes. All within a few minutes. Only minor injuries were reported. President obamas new gun control regulations, are supposed to keep guns, out of the hands of but some people may be finding it easier to buy federally restricted firearms. Current law places restrictions on the purchase of silencers. Short barreled shotguns and fully auto machine guns. You have to get approval of the local sheriff. Reno police have arrested the person they say stabbed a man to death early this morning. It was just after midnight when Police Arrived to the scene of a fight, at the Desert Sunset Motel on east 21yearold michael banquicio, was stabbed and taken to renown medical center. He later died from his injuries. Police later found 40 yearold victoria sweeting at an apartment complex, in south reno. Police say she admitted to stabbing banquicio during the fight. Sweeting is charged with one count of open murder. Detectives are still investigating what started the fight. A Douglas County man is facing domestic battery charges after he allegedly tried to strangle his wife and fired a shotgun inside the home. It was monday night when deputies arrested 38yearold matthew meinen. His wife told deputies he strangeld her and fired a shotgun inside the home. With seven children there at the time. Deputies say meinen refused to follow their instructions. He was tased and taken into custody. Meinen is facing charges of resisting arrest, domestic battery, child abuse and being an exfelon in possession of a weapon. His bail has been set at over 78thousand dollars. Man who police say is responsible for a 6hour standoff yesterday with officers. Sparks police say Daniel Enriquez barricaded himself, and as many as four hostages into a home near greenbrae and probasco. Enriquez was wanted by reno police for robbing a supermarket, and for a shooting back in december at the gold dust west. Another, weaker storm may impact the forecast area on saturday before a ridge of High Pressure returns to the region early next week. Short term. Main change to the forecast was to add freezing fog to many valley locations and to issue a freezing fog advisory. Many locations are reporting lowered visibility as well as very icy roads. Morning commuters are urged to leave plenty of extra time for travel as roads will be extremely icy and hazardous. Dense freezing fog appears to have consolidated in the vicinity of the reno airport early this morning so if you have a flight be sure to check its status before heading out. Several flights were redirected and cancelled overnight due to the dense fog and low visibility. Bulk of the next storm the sierra this morning and then into western nevada by midday. Spillover doesnt look spectacular with this storm, so we anticipate most of the impacts and precipitation will remain in northeastern california and the sierra locations. The system is also still trending a bit farther south than the previous storm, so heaviest precipitation amounts will likely be south of highway 50 as the storm pushes into the area. Looking at satellite early this morning there is quite a bit of lightning with the storm as it moves into the west coast. If convective activity continues then stronger precipitation bands could move across the sierra resulting in localized snow amounts much higher than currently forecast. Winter weather advisories are in effect for the tahoe basin for this morning and for mono county later this afternoon, where the most significant travel impacts will occur. Details are available in the Winter Weather advisory products. Snow showers linger thursday, but appear to remain confined to the sierra. Operational models are picking up on a weak shortwave quickly passing through the region for late thursday into friday, but there are some timing differences so forecaster confidence is relatively low. This shortwave would likely bring additional snowfall to the sierra with some travel implications. Kept chances for showers in the forecast through the end of the work week. Weishahn long term. Saturday through wednesday. Only minor changes were made to the ongoing forecast. A couple of weak systems will impact the region saturday and again tuesday, possibly followed by another storm either wednesday or thursday.
