Fire crews blasted water on this vehicle from all sides for well over an hour, trying to get the flames out. And look at the results. The fire came at the worst possible time for commuters, creating a huge backup during the afternoon rush hour. People got out of their cars. You see it there to watch the flames. They were sending videos to us. Lisa is live now along highway 101 with the story. Lisa . Reporter larry, the rv was just over there a few feet from the holly street exit. Its since been towed away, but this was a major shutdown the last time that this specific portion of 101 was closed in both directions. That was back in 2007. Sky 7 was above the chaos below on highway 101 where the rv burst into flames. It just so happens an ambulance was behind the motor home and noticed smoke coming from it. Medics got the couple to pull over and got them out just in time. We were taking precautions in case something was to explode that we didnt want to get anybody else in the middle. Reporter the couple told firefighters they had a 50pound propane tank, as well as some five to tenpound rockets inside. They were heading home to oregon from a canceled model rocket show in las vegas. As a result, firefighters were forced to attack the fire from a distance. When a propane tank is being impinged by fire, it causes the tank to relieve pressure, but the potential explosion can be large. Reporter the potential for danger was so high, the entire freeway was shut down, leaving drivers stuck in their cars for hours. 101 was a parking lot. Some cars turned around drivers got out and waited on the median barrier. Motorcycles drove the wrong way out and city streets were gridlocked. It was confusing. It was ugly. A 74yearold woman suffered smoke inhalation and is in fair condition. Tonight, we have new details on the shooting outside of a San Francisco high school earlier this week. Today, we told you two arrests have been made in the gang related shooting today. Now, late tonight, sources say those arrested included the suspected shooter and a getaway driver. Four students were injured in the shooting, including a 15yearold girl. An Oakland Police officer is accused of paying a prostitute for sex and then tipping her off to police activity. Officer Ryan Walterhouse was arrested when he showed up for work last night. Hes facing two counts of conspiracy to obstruct justice, as well as a misdemeanor charge of engaging in prostitution. Officials say this is not related to the ongoing sex scandal involving several Law Enforcement agent sis. But the woman at the center of that scandal has a new attorney. She claims she had sex with numerous Bay Area Police officers. Some of those encounters took place while she was underage. Right now the forecast is expected to be a weak la nina. But if the intensity changes, that could play a role in our rainfall. Drier than average conditions are expected for southern california.
