Vianey takes us now out there on the roadways. Ive enjoyed my morning because no trouble spots in the bay area just yet so i have a feeling these commuters are also enjoying a pretty decent start. Ill tell you what, right now some poor person out there, unfortunately, does look like they have a breakdown that may be blocking a lane near the oakland area. So you might spot them, maybe help them out on the roads. Thats the only person i see in a report thats struggling with something at this hour, unfortunately. We do begin with breaking news out of the south bay this morning where there is still a very active scene this morning. One san jose Neighborhood Police are investigating a deadly shooting. It all started just after 5 00 last night not far from the san jose state campus. Bob redell live with what we know is now a homicide this morning. Bob . Reporter good morning to u you, laura. Not far from the intersection here about two and a half blocks away from san jose state university. Investigators have now been out here for 13 hours collecting evidence from what we believe is the 15th homicide of the year here in the city of san jose. As mentioned it started around 5 00 last night with a 911 call to police, someone reporting they heard loud bangs coming from inside a home nearby. When the officers arrived it turns out the loud bangs had been gunshots and they did find a woman shot at least once and, sadly, she was pronounced dead here on the scene. San jose police tell us they do not have any suspects. Theyve not made any arrests. As far as motive they dont know what led up to the shooting. Was this a random crime or was the woman targeted . San jose Police Looking for a man who led them on a car chase after nearly running over a Police Officer. We first broke the story yesterday. A lot of speculation over what caused all of this heavy police presence. It happened sunday night on monterey near the cap tal expressway. Police say the driver used a stolen vehicle and nearly hit an officer when police tried to stop him. The driver then hit a parked car nearby. At that Point Police Officers were able to nab one of the passengers in the car who tried to escape. But then the driver sped off and hit another parked car. There officers caught two more passengers. So in all three people were arrested but a fourth person is still on the run this morning. A live look at the bay bridge toll plaza this morning. Not a the lot of people out there. We do know bay area drivers are fed up with gridlock, say they would be willing to pay up to 3 more in tolls if the money went towards easing traffic. Thats according to a new poll put out by Silicon Valley leadership group. The polls surveyed 9,000 homeowners. Answers varied on how much they pay but most agreed traffic was a problem. A new audit reportedly finds problems with the way one contractor conducted palo altos pipeline inspection. The Palo Alto Weekly reporting that the city spend some 3 million on inspections in the aftermath of the deadly San Bernardino blast. The audit finds hydro, ma, the Firm Palo Alto contracted to do the job, never actually inspected some of the lines. Osborne says he was never told he would have to pay a fee of 70. Comcast wouldnt budge on a refund of his 70. So he reached out to us for help. We contacted comcast and it credited osbornes account. However, it said it also had heard directly from osborne again at the same time so it was a combination of both calls that prompted the refund. An emotional victory for tennis star Venus Williams. She won her opening match at wimbledon yesterday but after she broke down after she was asked about the are recent fatal car crash she was involved in. It was her first News Conference since she was sued by estate of a florida man who died in a car crash that police say she caused. She had post ed on facebook saying, quote, i am devastated and heartbroken by the accident. My heartfelt condolences go out to the family and friend of Jerome Barson and i it continue to keep them in my thoughts and prayers. During yesterdays News Conference she was asked about the post. I saw that you wrote on your facebook some very heartfelt words. Is there anything else you would want to say about that . There are really no words to describe how devastating and, yeah i am completely speechless and its just yeah, i mean, im just after that williams broke down in tears and left the News Conference. In the lawsuit williams is accused of not properly stopping at a red light which caused the crash. She has not been charged or cited with any crime. She and her lawyer say she did not run a red light. Tiger woods is speaking out this morning about had his treatment in a twitter post last night. He says that he has completed his intensive program. He went on to say that he will continue to tackle this Going Forward with his doctors, family and friends. All of this comes a little over a month after the golf star was arrest ed on dui charges. This morning we are learning new information about a deadly hitandrun crash that took the lives of two young boys in the east bay as we hear an emotional plea from the boys mother. Pouring out her heart after being released from the hospital last night. Her third child, an infant, is still fighting for his life this morning. Reyes lost her 10yearold son, lorenzo, 5yearold son vincent. This all happened friday night driving home from a concord movie theater. Chp says the driver of an infinity slammed into her Dodge Durango at an off ramp and bolted from the scene. He bhind sided me. I never saw anything. I didnt hear tires screeching, nothing, and he ran away. Police arrested 35yearold Lemuel Wilson jr. Saturday night after he checked into a hospital for treatment and also to turn himself in. Hes facinging two counts of vehicular manslaughter and leaving the scene of an accident causing great bodily injury. His bail is set at 500,000. We also have new details on breaking news. We first brought you on today in the bay yesterday. Chp officers say they have tracked down a big rig driver involved in a deadly hitandrun crash and hes cooperating in the investigation. That crash happened about 6 30 yesterday morning on highway 80 in san pablo. It struck a motorcyclist killing him. The driver stopped on the road for five minutes but then took off. The search continues this morning for two men involved in a violent robbery near the uc berkeley campus. It happened late sunday night in peoples park. Police say the two men approached another man at the park. One suspect hit him in the back of the head and the other stole his backpack. One witness who saw the whole thing tried to intervene and ended up getting struck in the head as well. Both victims were taken to a nearby hospital. It is 6 35 and we remain with this Holiday Light traffic although chp right now is reporting what looks to be simply just a fenderbender along 680. It appears the cars are finally off to the righthand shoulder so that shouldnt be causing any delays considering there arent too many cars on the road. Drive times, no slowing. 680 to vargas road. A woman was found dead at the scene. Firefighters are still at the scene here of a house fire in dan vilville in shelly placer danville boulevard. Firefighters arrived after mid knit to find the garage fully engulfed. A car was destroyed. Firefighters dont believe it was caused by fireworks but they dont know the exact cause. Police in berkeley are hoping someone may have surveillance images to crack a string of vandal a. Offensive messages aimed at police. On june 28 police were called about car tagged with spray paint on the 2400 block of hillside avenue. They found 1 3 cars in the same area tagged. Others had their tires slashed. Police believe the cases may be related. Plans reportedly moving forward to expand los vaqueros reservoir. Reports on monday the Water District leased new virm studies. The district scheduled six Public Meetings to discuss ideas as well. Other bay area water agencies are hoping to benefit from the expansion which would nearly double the size of the reservoir. Following breaking news out of the east bay where we are learning a gas station shooting is both now a homicide and an officer involved shooting. We are getting new information from Antioch Police he as we show you the video from the scene overnight when it took place. Antioch police say it happened around 8 26. A robbery homicide. An officer involved shooting also took place at the scene. Now moving forward Antioch Police and the d. If you are hoping to catch one of the biggest shows you will need to arrive early. The fair is asking folks to arrive rather early to help manage the large crowds and traffic there. That fair is closing its parking lot entrances. Also closing the front gate entrances at 6 00 tonight even though the Fireworks Show doesnt actually start until 9 30. You have to be there had hours in advance. No new tickets will be sold after 6 00 and you will not be able to get back on the fair grounds even if you have a hand stamp. News now from across the coast, all new jersey state parks and beaches are reopening today after lawmakers say they did strike a deal, a budget deal to end the Government Shutdown in the state. Governor Chris Christie continuing to face heavy criticism after he was spotted with his family at Island Beach State Park over the weekend one of the numerous parks and beaches christie himself ordered shut down due to the budget stalemate. Does this guy have anything better to do his life . Hard to believe that south korea and japan will put up with this much longer. Perhaps china will put a heavy move on north korea and end this nonsense once and for all. Now there are not a lot of options available to the president. Do nothing and north korea will develop a missile capable of hitting the west coast. But attacking could lead to the death of absolutely millions.
