All of our microclimate, let me get you out the door with what it feels like and what to expect throughout the day. 50 degrees in the peninsula and 49 in San Francisco. We have also seen some spotty light showers in the north bay, but no widespread heavy rain. This will not affect your day as it clears up in the next couple hours. 74 in the trivalley for the high today. Up to 67 in the east bay. 60s along the coast. Mid to upper 70s inland. A wide range in temperatures. Be dressed for just about anything. And then as we head through the forecast, going to see the rain. Well talk about that timeline coming up in eight minutes, heading over to mike. B. A. R. T. Is back on time. Thats right. Minor delays down in the warm springs area. Mechanical issues early, but that cleared out. Back on schedule. A smooth drive for traffic. Two incidents tracking. One is a disabled vehicle right there around van ness where it turns toward 101 and interstate 880. They all mirj there. It cleared up seconds ago. Im going to say the disabled vehicle may have cleared some lanes. May have sloesing toward the bay bridge toll plaza, but look how light and easy the drive is now. This is 6 02 right now. A build coming into the south bay, nothing dramatic, but well continue to track this. Back to you. Thank you very much. 6 02, we also continue to follow breaking news out of the south bay. A double stabbing overnight in downtown san jose. Alabama muden near 87 close to the childrens museum. Thats video from overnight, thats where we find pete suratos live this morning, downtown san jose, to bring us up to speed on the investigation. Good morning to you. San jose police just cleared the scene not too long ago, but in the past half, we have cleanup crews that are here following the double stabbing. Now, i did speak with police, and theyre telling me the two victims may be transients and theyre still looking for a spuspect in all of this. Youre looking at some of the video from earlier when this took place. Police got reports of a double stabbing in the area around 12 00 a. M. And found the first victim near the guadalupe river. The second victim was found closer to where were standing at locust street. We do know the victims were taken to the hospital with nonlife threatening injuries so they are expected to survive. Now, theres no specific description of the suspect outside of him being a male, but according to san jose police, this is still an ongoing investigation. Were live in san jose. Pete rottose for today in the bay. Thank you very much. Its 6 0. All new this morning. Learning about a robbery at an apple in walnut creek. The three men rushed into the store off main street and took off with three laptops and 18 iphones. Collectively worth thousands of dollars. The suspects did not appear to have any weapons on them. Police are still looking through Surveillance Video to try to identify those men. Happening today, a 50yearold felon accused of kidnapping and assaulting a 13yearold girl is expected to be arraigned. Investigators say Timothy Lee Marble met a young runaway at a nappy gas station last friday. The next day, marble called 911 himself to say the victim jmped from his moving truck. When officers found the girl, she told them she had been drugged and repeatedly assaulted. This morning, police are looking for a groper. A man accused of inappropriately touching women on the San Francisco muni line. Take a look at this photo of the suspect. Police say he would inappropriately rub against unsuspected women. Victims start posting warnings about the man on the app next door. One woman filed a police report. Some riders say theyre keeping more alert. Im definitely aware of my surroundings. I try to sit in a position where i can see everybody around me and i can kind of monitor whats going on, try not to have my face in my phone. Police say the man has been seen on the line several times. Metro stations back up and running today after yesterdays terror attack in st. Petersburg. A bomb tore through a subway train underneath the city, killing 11 people and hurting nearly 50. The russian government says they believe it was a suicide bombing but they will not release the name of the suspect. President Vladimir Putin was also visiting the city at the time of the attack. Local news now. New this morning, Palo Alto Police are looking for a man who they say was prowling. Two incidents happened on sunday night within hours of each other. The first was about 8 20 in a College Terrace neighborhood. A Woman Told Police a man was trying to get theicide of her home. Then, shortly after 11 00, a woman in Evergreen Park also called police saying she found a man standing in the bushes of her yard looking inside of her home. New this morning, the death toll now stands at 58 for an alleged chemical attack in northern syria. This map shows the area where the attack took place. Human Rights Groups say 11 children were also killed. It is said be one of the worst poison gas attacks in the country during their sixyear civil war. Happening today, a proposal that could dramatically change the way that pressure comes for criminal defendants to show up in court. Its going to get its first hearing. Instead of requiring suspects to post bail, county officials would decide whether to release them based on their risk to public safety. Some groups oppose this bill. 6 06 right now. Gonzagas first championship game, the spokane cool school came in so close. In the end, they couldnt topple the Mighty College basketball giant. Were going to see something that could change it up for us and help block some of the allergens out of the air. A little light rain across the north bay, but not a lot of widespread rain. This wont make a huge difference for the south bay, but seeing a little of some clearing there as far as some sprinkles moving through. Were also looking at the bigger storm system that will bring in widespread heavy rain by the end of the week. Well talk about the timeline coming up in ten minutes as we head over to mike. Were taking you all around the bay where lighter traffic flow continuing this week, same as last week, maybe even lighter because trivalley schools are off this week, and they feed a lot of communities across the bay. Slow here. There is a crash reported westbound highway 24 at 580. The maze itself, mini maze. Looking at a smooth flow of traffic over the bay with the backup of the bay bridge toll plaza. Getting to the bay bridge, about 20 minutes from highway 4 to the bay bridge toll plaza itself, a smooth flow of traffic for richmond and berkeley, and a build out of the Altamont Pass Holding Steady at 25 minutes from grant line to the dublin nrlt change. This happened at a construction site in el cajon yesterday near san diego. You see the aftermath there. Workers will building a new car dealership at the time when a 6foot cinder block wul fell on workers. One person managed to escape, but another was killed in the collapse. All free and clear now for harrison ford. The faa finishing its investigation into the actors scary landing at John Wayne Airport also in southern california. Back in february, ford was coming in for a landing when he ended up flying right over the top of a packed passenger jet that was waiting to take off at the time. The actors Attorney Says the faa will not fine ford and he will not lose his pilots license. 6 13. Amazon has launched a new service to make it easier for people who dont have a debit or credit card to shop on their website. Customers can display a bar code from amazon cash at a participating retailer and deposit that cash direct leinto their amazon account. It can be accessed through their main site or mobile phone, and people can print the bar code and present it in stores. Changes that could affect a lot of businesses here. The day is based on the idea women make 79. 6 cents for every dollar a man makes. The founder is quick to point out thats based on sinces data compared every single full time working woman with every single full time working man. What they do for a living is not a factor. Theres no apples to apples, and todays date is arbitrary. Want to declare the day a year ahead of time so theres a buildup so people Pay Attention and talk about it, but they havent got the census data that early so they have to make a guess. She told me the guess is exactly right this year. The math turned out. She also said it does not do a good job of measuring things like women of color and different ethnicities. And then some sunshine later on this afternoon. We are going to have some dry weather for the next couple of days, but this is the thing youll be talking about when you get to work. Everybody will say, hey, did you hear its going to rain on friday . Say yeah, you heard it here. It will be in the mid 50s. Right now, as you stem out the door in oakland, fairfield, 51 degrees. Cool right now. Warming up for the inland areas today. 79 degrees in concord and san jose. 75 degrees in Half Moon Bay today. Still cool. And you notice those choppy waves out there. Were feeling temperatures in the low 60s for the high. Looking at the radar, it looks like a lot going on, but really light rain has been rolling across the north bay. Sprinkles there, and its been very hit or miss. Not everyone seeing the rain. This is out ahead of the storm system that be here as we head into thursday afternoon and definitely widespread on friday, but look at how big this thing is. It connects all the way out there into the pacific near hawaii, with some subtropical moisture. Its going to bring in heavy rain. It starts off with spotty light showers by thursday afternoon. All of us seeing some rain by friday morning. During that morning commute, it is going to be pouring, and also for the friday afternoon commute, even on saturday, as you make some plans, were still going to see some rain. And this weekend will not be anything like the last. Were looking at the potential of getting at least a half inch of rain for most of the bay area. Could be closer to one to possibly two for the north bay and santa cruz mountains. Heres what to expect. Winds picking up for friday. Well also have the concern of some downed trees and some street flooding, but no major river flooding expected. We have been talking about spring break. The trivalley schools really have a big impact on the commute, a lighter commute. Were still following this crash reported at the mini maze. West 24 at 580. No lanes blocked and no slowing shows up. Inslowing is at the bay bridge toll plaza. A lighter flow as well, upper east shore, walnut creek over here and throughout the north bay. Testing for liver damage is usually an invasive process, but now, new technology can check for liver damage using a noninvasive fibro scan machine. All patients would feel is a little cold wet sensation and some pressure. The scan machine combines ultra sound with sound waves to test for liver damage. Doctors say it could also be used to show cirrhosis and check liver fat. It can also look to see how fatty someones liver is so it looks for fatty liver disease. Now, the technology typically used to test for hepc, is the most accurate way to test other than a biopsy. 6 25. Amtrak reaching out to passengers after an incident on the san jose bound train. Back in december, a train started jolting along the tracks between sacramento and davis. One passenger had minor injuries. Amtrak had not released many details on what happened until the Sacramento Bee published a report. Now were learning it was caused by human error. They said the main reason there was no detailed explanation is because the investigation was in progress. Amtrak has still not said what caused the incident, but they report the train was traveling nearly twice the speed limit. It is one of the best ways to remember the happiest day of your life, but nbc bay area responds to a newlywood who couldnt get pictures from their wedding. Chris chmura is here with their story. Tommy and emily rented a photo booth for their wedding reception this past may. They rented it from hot shot photo booth and paid the company 600. Their contract states they would receive a flash drive containing all of the photos, but they say they did not get that flash drive. They said the photos were their only photographic memory that we would have of many of our guests. The couple emails the owner of hot shot photo booth a few times but they never got a response. Dozens of businesses in the bay area are trying to show support for women. Kris sanchez joining us live from redwood city to show the 20 counts movement and how you can take part. Hi, there. Still, california women are just a little better off, but across the board, women make 80 cents for every dollar men make. Some asian women fare better at 85 cents. White women make 75 cents on the dollar, black women make 63 cents. Latinoen were the worst off making just more than half of what men do. Working moms only 70 on the dollar. The institute for womens policy Research Estimates if the pay gap were to close and women got equal pay, it would add about 513 billion in income to the economy. Of course, the more money that people have, the more money that people spend. That is the benefit for everyone, not just for women. A group in Half Moon Bay is trying to paint the coast red on equal pay day. Including the Half Moon Bay chapter, is encouraging women to wear red today for equal pay day. California saw intense flooding, road damage, and plenty of broken bridges. The total estimated cost to fix the roads in california at 860 million. One of the largest repair being the phifer canyon bridge in big sur, which is estimated to cost more than 26 million. Some problems for smart train testing in the north bay, according to the marin independent journal. Crews are working to shore up the hills near the tunnel. There was a landslide near the tunnel in january, and there are concerns that dirt could cover the track if theres storm. Thats delaying trains from being tested in the area, but Officials Say this will not delay the start of service. 6 34. Today, workers and racial activists take to the streets on this day 49 years ago, dr. Martin luther king jr. Was assassinated. He was killed during a strike for black sanitation workers. Across the country, people will march to show the fight for 15 movement and the black lives Matter Movement as well. Vigils will be held, and San Francisco will host a rally today at 3 00 p. M. In yerba buena park. Also, exploring new ways to keep pedestrians safe while walking. An effort to fully eliminate traffic related injuries and death. At 12clerk 30, city leaders plan to talk about whats already being done and what must be done to achieve that goal. Governor browns bold 50 billion gas tax plan to repair roads and bridges has cleared its first major hurdle, but it faces another key test on thursday. The Appropriations Committee approved the measure yesterday. In a rare legislative appearance, Governor Brown provided his own testimony, talking about the urgency of this funding. The roads are broken. And theyre getting worse, and theyre not going to get better unless we get a significant injection of money. All right, it is also a significant vote. You need two thirds of the legislature to pass new taxes. The governor last week introduced his plan in concord, thats the video youre looking at. The plan would boost gas taxes about 12 cents per gallon and create a new fee for electronic vehicles. That measure will be voted on by the state senate on thursday. Baseball is back. We have the typical pattern in areas like the trivalley for sunol, pleasanton, and hayward. And despite the crash, south 880 at tennyson, we havent seen a lot of additional slowing. I think everything is heading past the san mateo bridge, maybe a little slower out of san leandro for the next few. 30 minutes here from highway 4 to the bay bridge toll plaza. Now, we have finally reached the half hour mark. No incidents for the upper east shore freeway, and oakland is pretty much at the limit for the other times. A smooth drive to the toll plaza, but the metering lights are on. Is tuesday, so by comparison with other tuesdays, this is very light. Pretty good. It is tuesday, but its never too early to take a peek at the weekend forecast. Actually, very important as welt. You have to enjoy the days we have here, because changes are in the works. This weekend wont look like the weekend we just had. So let me help you out here. Because yeah, were going to see rain moving in. And it will still be raining on your saturday. Heading to yosemite this weekend, it will be snowing. Youll have a hard time getting there. And those temperatures only reaching into the 20s. On saturday, the blossom festival in japantown, and as you know, this is the second largest Cherry Blossom festival in the country outside of the one that happens in washington, d. C. It will be in the low to mid 50s. Some morning showers, and then turning partly cloudy during the afternoon. And for caramel valley, windy, wet. Sunday will be the day to enjoy the sunshine, but it will only be 57 degrees. So most likely will be the time youll be heading back home. Maybe you can enjoy the morning. Downtown san jose where police right now are investigating a late night double stabbing. It happened a little after midnight near almaden and watts. Thats just blocks away from san joses discovery museum. One victim was found there. The other near the guadalupe river.
