The entire 500 block of valencia street was on lockdown between 16th and 17th for about seven hours yesterday as police negotiated with the armed woman who was holed up in an apartment there. This photo sent to our newsroom shows people in a nearby coffee shop taking cover, waiting for police to tell them when they could get out of the area. It all started just before 2 00 yesterday afternoon at a building called the crown hotel where a pest control worker knocked on the suspectss apartment door. She answered, pulled out a gun. Police say the exterminator fled and the s. W. A. T. Team called in. A scary situation in the afternoon and evening for people on the block told to shelter in place. Knock on my door and they, we just need to use your room. So us to control the situation. The standoff ended just after 9 00 last night when the suspect identified so far only as a 60yearold woman stepped out of her apartment and into the hallway. She was taken to a hospital for evaluation. San Francisco Police tell us they expect charges to be handed down today. A suspected drunk driver is in custody, expected to face multiple charges after a police chase through three bay area cities. Around 2 30 this morning, Mountain View police pulled over a mustang on El Camino Real near highway 85. The driver pulled over briefly, then took off going over 100 miles an hour sending Police Chasing him into sunnyvale and santa clara. At some point he drove the wrong way into oncoming traffic. Police say the driver eventually turned on to the expressway where he rearended another car and tried to escape the scene of that crash and got into a scuffle with a santa clara officer injuring that officer. Charges from Mountain View p dmplt and charge from sunnyvale. The drivinger of the mustang, passenger in the car and santa clara officer all taken to a hospital to be treated. A second suspect has been arrested in the death of the elderly woman who neighbors affectionately knew at miss flo. Sheriffs deputies now say this woman, Jennifer Jimenez helped cover up the womans murder and will face a judge monday. Investigators say three months ago zachary cuen broke into flo douglass East San Jose home where he ransacked the home, stole jewelry she was wearing and savagely beat her. She died four weeks later. Cuen was charged with her murder in november. A Hayward Middle School teacher is out of a job after students say she criticized them for taking part in an immigrant protest. We broke this story last month. The cesar chavez english teacher put on leave shortly after parents complained. The principal sent home a letter to parents saying the teachers last day with the district was thursday. Students told us she humiliated them in class after missing school to participate in a day without an immigrant protest. Now to a developing story on the peninsula. The search for a missing hiker continues this morning. An army of volunteerless comb the mountains above woodside to find the woman missing more than 36 hours. Bethnee hoaury was staying at a bed and breakfast. She suffers from early onset dementia and is insulin dependent compelling the agency to find her. Neighbors in the heavily Wooded Mountain area say people often got lost hiking there. People get lost because theres so many trails that connect with other trails. So its dangerous. 16 different bay area agencies are using offroad vehicles to search the trails. This is about seven miles northwest of woodside. The Sheriffs Department searched overnight using specially equipped aircraft that can detect body heat. In San Francisco, a march and rally calling for President Trump to meet with tribal leaders before continuing to work on the Dakota Access pipeline. A federal judge this week declined to stop construction of the final section of the pipeline. It would pass under a reservoir that provides Drinking Water to two indian reservations. It is unknown if the toxic tea was prescribed for a particular ailment. The only common denominator is the tea contained the ingredient aconite. This aconite poisoning, which can come from Chinese Herbal teas, if not processed correctly, it can affect the heart. But right now, we are seeing quite a different picture in various microclimates, right . All right. South bay right now, partly cloudy skies, waking up to about 52 degrees. The peninsula you can see fog along there. 50 degrees, 45 degrees in the trivalley. Mostly clear in the trivalley. Definitely seeing that buildup of that fog. East bay right now, a nice 52 degrees. San francisco 52. And the north bay, 45 degrees. So we are seeing a combination of partly cloudy and very dense fog. Doppler radar now showing that fog building right along the coastline. So that means if you have any plans to drive up, please be careful on your commute, because here it is. A very low visibility along Half Moon Bay. Also seeing very dense fog in the napa area. About a quarter mile in front of you. Limited visibility, Half Moon Bay, denser. Was about a quarter mile and may have gotten even tighter over the last couple hours. They also educate staff and customers on their legal rights as immigrants. We need to go forth and educate the immigrants that are workers in any business here in San Francisco. So theyre not frightened to go out. There are more than 300 sanctuary restaurants nationwide. When she speaks, people listen, and a lot of people wanted to see her at stanford.
