As we start out now we look at the radar and the rain moving to the north bay and the moisture streaming frin the next several hours and just enough to make those roads wet as we head out for the morning commute. As we go through the rest of the day, we will continue to have temperatures in the 50s and looking at highs today into the in the 70s. Ill talk more about that in a few minutes and lets get a look at the san mateo bridge with mike. I was just yelling over to the Weather Center do some some rain and this is on the hayward side and this is coming down in the light right there. That just happened over the last 90 seconds. Dark clouds that just came over from the peninsula side. Well track that on your maps showing the green. The green showing the wetter roadways on the peninsula and moving over towards hayward. Not really a huge issue right now the roadway and the traffic flow isnt affected. Well track this guy, guysic bato you. Shots fired near the Livermore Police station and now officers are investigating why that happened. Right now no word why that happened on suspects, motive or arrests. Bob redell joining us live. Bob, it anyone hurt . Well, good morning to you, sam and laura. This shooting happened around 3 00 this morning at the end of pacifica avenue. This is a street pordered by apartments on one side. Youre looking down the street right now and the right side the back side of the civic center and the police department. Livermore police wont tell us right now except that none of their officers were hurt and this did initially come down as an officerinvolved shooting. We do believe one person was shot and killed and the coroner is on the way. What is not clear if police shot this person or this person did shoot themselves. We expect a sergeant or lieutenant to update us soon on the circumstances. Report oing live here in livermore, bob redeell, today in the bay. Also breaking this morning. A speeding car slams into a building and the driver and the passenger had to be extricated and pulled out from that wreck. This all happened off of boulevard circle in walnut creek. The car is still there implanted there on the side of the building. Crews are trying to pull it out right now. Stephanie chuang joining us live from the scene with what we know so far. Sounds like that car was going pretty fast, stephanie. It was going pretty fast but the car was pulled out and towed away about five, ten minutes ago. Were in an Office Parking lot and the car flew off of the highway by the highway 680 24 interchange and landed inside the building where you can see crews are now working to shore up the structure and there is only one beam now supporting that building. Inside there is a yoga studio. Thankfully this happened early in the morning around 2 00 in the morning. If you look at video from earlier, you can see firefighters and first respondering rushing to get the people out of the car that was wedged upside down on the first floor of this building here on boulevard circle. You can see at least one of the people getting loaded on to a stretcher into an ambulance. Firefighters said it started with something going on on 680 and then this car flying off and a bmw. You can hardly recognize it. Crews told me it took three tow trucks to get it out and First Responders had to do a lot of work to get the two people inside of there out of there. We had to bring our extrication tools out of there and cut both doors off and deal with two victims that had major injuries. Now, were still trying to find out what led to this. There were reports the car was going more than 100 miles an hour. It had to be going pretty fast to fly the distance that it did off the freeway and land inside the building. The crews are still working and putting in temporary steel beams and three units there in red tagged. No power, no gas right now inside. We did speak with the Building Owner who is here on scene. He got the call early this morning and he couldnt believe that they said a car had flown into thebuilding, but, again, well hear from him coming up in the next half hour. Live in walnut creek, Stephanie Chuang today in the bay. Under arrest for alleged child abuse. Police say that a babysitter was arrested for allegedly abusing a 13monthold livertop more boy that she was caring for. She advertised her services on care. Com. Police say their investigation began in early february. Further details are not being released just yet. Police say the case is sensitive in nature, but they say there could be more victims because it was her job to babysit. Now, the investigation is still ongoing this morning. But we are starting to see some of the showers now approachingal 80 and may see that moving closer to fremont and hayward over the next few minutes as the rain continues to come down and after a few minutes it will be gone. Spoke with a whistleblower and reviewed construction plans with two engineering experts. We took what we uncovered to the vta. The project manager admitted crews installed the wrong pipes. It happened in one of six stations along the 16mile project to connect b. A. R. T. From the east bay to the south bay. Called for pvc piping in the underground sewage system. Vta inspectors had about two weeks to catch the mistake. Now, 1,400 feet of cast iron pipe is buried underground. The vta project manager said the contractor misinterpreted the specks and it led to a 70day work stoppage. Found the cast iron pipe will perform, as well, and last as long as pvc, but experts we spoke with arent so sure. They say it is superior to cast iron during earthquakes and also doesnt corrode when exposed to certain types of water and electricity. Sources are worried it will be costly to fix later on. The bigger storm system arrives on saturday and it will bring in some heavy rain and wind. By 2 00 this afternoon, much of has cleared the bay area and well still be left with the clouds and temperatures today coming down into the mid up toer 60s. And then heading into tomorrow, heres the timeline. 2 00 tomorrow afternoon. We will have some spotty rain moving into the morth bay and then a all across the bay area by the 9 00, 10 00 hour at night and then on saturday well have rain off and on with the heaviest rain arriving saturday night into early sunday. It looks like it does linger into sunday afternoon. So, with several storm systems on the way, we will have the potential for some very heavy rain, at least two inches for most of us here in the bay area.
