They did scar face on this studio, in this stage. Theyre going to remake scar face. Can we agree you dont remake scar face . Yes, leave that alone. Kathie lee is usually here. Billy bush, such a great guy, came today. You know kathie fell down the stairs, she was talking about it and her knee was swollen and the doctor said to her, when you have a swollen knee and bruising and stuff, it is not a good idea to fly. So billy bush is pinch hitting today and were going to have some fun. A little phone call last night, in fact, just before dinner. I had a nice Text Exchange with kathie, shes doing good. Well see her tomorrow. Okay. So, again, we do have a great show. Were going it meet two of the new coaches. Gwen stefani and pharrell. This is good stuff. Well talk about them. In a minute. But you and i were worried about walking down the stairs. Think about this, they walk down singing, looking out. I was terrified. Were going to fall down. Big change in the Coaching Staff of the voice. Not only are the new coaches coming in, but something happened to one of the old coaches. Adam levine has gone blonde. It is serendipitous. We have always had, like, a special connection. And it was always through music that we recognize, like, each others admiration and the depth of such potential. It is a connection that goes back more than ten years. I just love this song, you guys. I didnt even know it was the two of you together. I knew what i wanted and i described it to him. He goes, oh, yeah. My advice is always going to have a consistent thread of be you. If it doesnt work for the show, thats okay. For example something i love, you give everything away. Whenever someone asks you about something you do, you know what, all well and good. But, gwen is one better or this one it sounds like im giving it away because youre so used to everybody saying i or me. I am used to it. But what was holler back without her. It was nothing. It was nothing without you. Thats right. Youll see what gwen and i do, were going to take a slightly different approach, always going to hold up the mirror and show people how rad they are already. You like that approach, gwen . Are you into that . I like him. Hes rad. I think you guys are going to change the whole thing. There is a whole different vibe that is happening with the two of you. There are a lot of shows on all the networks, crisis is one of the shows you have to be told about, but once you watch the first episode, and the concept is a bus load of important kids get kidnapped and we look at you and you turn out to be a hero, because your buddies shoot you on episode one. Im the protector, the secret service agent. I have my hands full with the president s son, but not only him, the children of some of the most important people in the world. How are you going to rescue the kids . Youre in on the rescue. I am in on the rescue, but for a time i was convinced my character was in cahoots with dermots character. I thought i was evil. But im not. Im on the side of good with lance. And, yeah, it is our job to try to rescue these very valuable kidnapped children. But things get more complicated as the series unfolds. The story gets more complicated. It is going to get more complicated. Everybody has their own personal reasons brought in through their characters. But this part of the show youre talking about becomes a great like the fugitive or one of those movies where the good guys are trying to track down the bad guys. Youre like a wounded bird. I see a wounded bird there. It is all harsh. This guy is hurt. I feel for this guy. Hes evil. But underneath it all, hes heisenberg. White was a wounded bird in breaking bad. He was deliberately breaking the law, making drugs. Nothing like that. Emotionally he has sound reasons for doing what he does. Your ax accent just threw me. When you listen to your character on the show you would have no idea youre from australia . Australia with english parents, so it turned into a big mess. But it is strange when im with lance, because, you know, we play partners so we spend a lot of time together. When i see you, i feel like i should be speaking in an american accent, im trying to be authentic. How hard is it to pick up the accent . I have an excellent coach who teaches me. It was a little tricky at first. Shes great at it. Because i forget. Really . When she goes to her accent, im like, wait a minute. These two, the on screen pairing, crisis has this pairing. You dont see this combination what are we working with here, about a 1 body fat . Hes tore up underneath that vest in there. I can see hes very fit. I have to get back into the gym. He eats like a 12yearold. It is these guys. Anything and everything. You eat and work out. We want everyone to watch crisis, it is a great show. Have you contacted her to talk about we talk almost every day. Or text or, you know dean, i think, in the last episode, revealed he was having suicidal thoughts and things like that. I wont go into singing it, but you know the songs. Daddy warbucks and one of those films that is really about being optimistic in life and that good things can happen. So really good theme for mothers and daughters and sons. Translate for younger kids, do you think . I think it does. The songs are so catchy, my 3yearold watched it with me yesterday, just like curled up in my lap, it was amazing. Loved it. But what is really great, theyre actually remaking this movie, coming out christmas. It is the most anticipated family film of theear. The Joy Luck Club for older kids, right . Much older kids. Thats the movie you want to go see when you want to feel good about your life. The Joy Luck Club, im chineseamerican, so i have a little relationship with that, but i think it relates to all mother daughter relationships centered around four chinese women, who move to america, for a better life and they want a better life and their hopes and dreams are on the daughter. So i think mom can really relate with that, that guilt, that struggle, the life and put your hopes and dreams on the future generation. Yeah. Thats a great idea, over the weekend, to curl up with your kids, with a great movie. You guys, thank you so much for being here on the set of the voice. What a thrill this has been.
