Youre at a new shelter expecting a full house tonight. Reporter they certainly are. The doors open at 5 00 tonight and already dozens of people have poured in. Last night about 90 people spent the night at the shelter, and even more are expected tonight. The home first shelter opened december 5th, its run differently than many other shelters in the bay area. Clients have to be referred by another agency to come here, but then they are guaranteed to spend every night here until the end of march. Also, unlike other shelters in the area, clients here are allowed to stay until 9 00 the next morning. Youre up at 5 but have until 9 00 to get out. Its less freezing. At 5 30 in the morning you go where my car was covered in ice. Clients can also bring in pets and keep them in a kennel as long as they have their shots. Because of the cold temperatures if someone shows up tonight without a referral, they will be able to stay here for 72 hours. After that they need a referral to stay longer. The office of Supportive Housing declared the entire month of december an inclement weather episode which means the shelters are allowed to take in more people than usual. So at this shelter they normally would allow 100 but tonight because of the cold they can accept 125. And san joses shelter can take in 330 tonight. In sunnyvale, clients receive a hot meal and have access to shelters. If you would like to make donations to this shelter they have a need for specific items. Bus tokens, also extra large sweatshirts and sweat pants for both men and women and shoes of all sizes. The chp is investigating a suspicious death after finding the body of a fairfield man in a car on interstate 80. Here is a look at the victims car. Officers found this black chevy in the Center Divide of westbound 80 east of american canyon, this on christmas eve. Medical personnel pronounced the victim dead at the scene. He has been identified as raybart ordonnio. Investigators working to investigate a body in the back of a truck. Police say it started yesterday when a man with a uhaul was acting suspiciously in the parking garage. That man is 27yearold charles getting and they tried to question him he started shooting. Police fired back. One officer was wounded and getting was fatally shot. Also in the course of the Investigation Police found a mans body in the back of that uhaul. Again, they are trying to come up with his identity. Police say they found a ski mask, burglary tools and a bb gun in that uhaul. People in need of medical help will have to drive further after an Early Morning fire damaged a Health Care Center this morning. The Russian River Health Center at 2 30, heavy smoke and fire on the top floor of the twostory building. It spread quickly, took about two hours to knock it down. Which will allow the temperatures to drop heading to tomorrow morning. We move into the afternoon well see rain spreading over the bay area. The system a fairly cold one. Were not expecting a tremendous amount of rainfall out of it. You saw there, seeing about a quarter inch or less out of it as it comes down through the afternoon, well see rain progressing out of the north bay and then by tomorrow evening scattered showers, and snow showers up toward lake county and maybe as low as 3,000 feet. Again, not a lot of rain for the bay area. The system moves through quickly. That looks to be the last rain for the week ahead. Increasing clouds for the afternoon. Highs 40s to low 50s tomorrow and well see showers probably lingering on into monday. Watch what happens here after monday. Were going to see these storms try to approach. Get pushed to the north and the south. High pressure strengthen, its going to act a bit like a wall heading to new years eve from seattle to san diego, things are dry as all the energy scoots by to the south and stays up to british columbia. The five day forecast after the showers begin to end well see temperatures climbing alittle bit approaching new years eve. From San Francisco to san jose, oakland and livermore same trend.
