San jose police say they caught a sexual predator. The man accused, here he is of attempting to Sexual Assault a 13yearold girl inside of her own home. This is turning into national story. Reporter it really has. The suspect changed his appearance and fled after all the media coverage. Tonight hes behind bars thanks to community tips. Police say the man seen in this Surveillance Video following the 13yearold home after school is muhammad. He forces his way inside the home then police say he tried to sexually assault the teenager. This is one of the most heinous crimes ive seen. This is sexual predator thats off the streets now. Reporter she managed to fight him off. Police say he also tried to sexually assault a 28yearold woman in a nearby restaurant bathroom last month. She was able to fight him off. They say he lives down the street from both his victims but fled after this video went went viral. They arrested him there this morning. The suspect altered his appearance from the original video. Many times this is very common when a suspect is on the run. Parents and students at nearby high school say they are relieved after a tense couple of days. Test results suggest the rod is corroded and it cracked. Other rods could be corroded according to the chronicle. The bridge wouldnt be as stable as expected in major earthquake. They arent old enough to be corroded. It could take up to two weeks to remove the rod for a full inspection and they plan to test the remaining rods as well. We learned a criminal investigator with the District Attorneys Office has interviewed parents about the concern they raised in our first report and the principal at the center of the investigation is no longer welcome at her current job. Im not going to talk to you. Reporter thats former san jose high principal refusing to answer questions about thousands of dollars she spent from a secret account she opened at the school. Where did the money go . What happened to 7,000 in expenses that had missing receipts . Reporter we talked to her as she walked into her job. A 130,000 Year Position she landed just weeks after resigning from san jose high. We learned the county placed her on paid administrative leave immediately after our story aired. She will not return in any capacity once her contract expires in june. Neither she nor the agency will comment on why. Shortly after she spoke out they met with meta and others to ask about the principal and the missing money. The office says they are investigating. It wasnt until january 2014 that teachers and staff started swapping stories about how they lost money from their cash boxes after games and fund raisers where then principal was in charge of counting the money. Math teacher sent an email asking about a discrepancy of the deposit of 450 in cash raised by students. We didnt know what happened. We double counted the money ourselves. We never made a mistake like that before. Reporter as we first revealed she opened a petty cash account in the name of the Schools Parent teacher student association. A clear violation of district rules. She bought lotto tickets and pricey meals on top of that records show she wracked up more than 7300 in expenses without any receipts or explanation including this truck made to cash for 1700 and hundreds of dollars in checks she wrote to herself. Somebody has to speak up for those parents and speak up for those students. This is me at 17 years of age. My High School Graduation picture. I was very involved. To this day . To this day. Reporter shes frustrated by whats happened. She says after watching our report she requested public records from the district about the missing money but never got answers. Should the principal have known it was against the rules for her to have this account . All principals know that so yes. Did the district sweep this under the rug . Not at all because we took care of our business. Reporter we asked whether superintendent matthews knew of this police report. The district called police and questioned her after 1600 in cash went missing from the school safe. No one was ever arrested. Did the superintendent know about this . I dont know. I would have to check on that. Did anyone question the principal about this . I dont know. You can see why it would have been helpful to have the superintendent answer these questions . Absolutely. Reporter there are still Unanswered Questions about what happened to thousands of dollars in rental fees during her tenure. We discovered the district is owed 10,000 from 2012 for multiple basketball tournaments hosted by catching friend and former colleague kevin blunt. He says he paid but declined to share any proof of payment. Its not just catchings actions. Others questioned the districts overall management of school funds. We did the math. Since 2012 the district hadnt collected more than 42,000 in rental fees just at san jose high. Since our report in january, the district recovered some of the money its still owed 28,000. Was there an investigation into what happened to the money for the rental fees of the gym . I would have to double check. Too many Unanswered Questions by the district.
