It is unfortunate that the dialog has escalated to that level, but that is not the case. Reporter a spokesperson for the diocese of oakland says they were simply trying to clarify language from a 2013 contract which does not delineate between a teachers personal and professional life. It is not a desire or an attempt by the diocese to delph into the personal life. It is about what it means to be a teacher in a catholic school. Reporter this was supposed to be signed today. But some administrators at different schools within the diocese are allowing their teachers a few extra days to go over that controversial part of the contract. A new contract banned teachers there from living together outside of marriage, supporting sex out of wedlock and supporting homosexuality. And in santa rosa, a business on wanted teachers to sign a contract that said it was a she claims higher ups made her a scapegoat in the asiana crush. She was driving one of the fire trucks that ran over one of the teenagers. She says another truck ran over the 16 year old first. She was singled out and pressured to take sole responsibility. Her lawsuit states that the sack ra fission lamb selected was 24 year old veteran firefighter, a length, and woman of color. A car crashed into an apple store in berkley. Heres the picture of it. Thank you, jodi. New details on that plane crash. The pilot of a vintage plane told investigators he was passing the cessna over the bridge when he realized hed hit it. It sent the cessna into the bay, killing the pilot. They proceeded to fly home some 100 miles in the other plane. He chose to continue flying to his base at eagles nest because he wanted to avoid populated areas. The ntsb says its investigation is expected to take a few months. Not your typical day at walmart. Its good for business. Reporter the president announced that is he ordering 2 billion spent over the next tee years to upgrade Energy Efficiency of federal buildings. And hes drumming up support from the public and private sector to go green. Its going to save us ultimately money and create job over the long term. Thats what walmart understands. Reporter outside in the parking lot, protesters were groaning about the president visiting a store that for many symbolizes low prices and low wages. This woman has been working to support a minimum wage. Inside the walmart, employees were led in a company cheer and reporters were allowed to talk to them about the company. We do a lot of great for everybody. For everythinbody. Thats why he comes to see us. Reporter this cashier says she would have liked to hear the president talk about raising the minimum wage. Cost of living is going up, we need all the money we can make. Reporter that point a manager pulled her away. When questioned about whether he was concerned that his message was undercut by coming to a walmart, the press office says he wasnt really worried about that because people know where the president stands on raising wages to at least 10. 10 an hour. In other words, the president comes to walmart, creates all this chatter about minimum wage, and the white house figures thats good for us. I can tell you, its ticked off some of the local labor unions in the bay area. They figure that the Democratic Party here should have been able to find a more unionfriendly venue. Walmart made a pledge to increase its clean energy use by 2020. The plan is to increase the amount of Renewable Energy the store uses by 600 and reduce the amount of energy it uses by 20 . You may remember the visit to solyndra back in 2010 after the Company Received a half a billion dollars in federal loans. A year later, they were raided seeking evidence for fraud. A Fremont Elementary schoolteacher allegedly struck a third Grade Student in math class was supposed to be back in class today. That didnt happen. Police are investigating and the parents seeking legal action. We pick up the story where the parents protested outside the school this morning. Reporter as parents protest, police are investigating, looking into charges that on april 28, a patterson elementary schoolteacher slapped 9yearold Julian Rivera in class after the student got a math problem wrong. I havent been to work in two weeks because he wants to make sure im home, because live right across the street, and he can call me if something happens. Hes terrified if the teacher comes back. Reporter but the teacher in question isnt coming back yet. The district says hes on administrative leave as Police Investigate the claims. Shocking for a teacher to put their hands on a student. You never would expect Something Like that. You know, you send your kids to school in hopes that theyre in a safe environment. Reporter off camera, parents at patterson told us theyre surprised by the charges. That the teacher is well liked. But julian and his father say theyre still shaken by what they claim happened in the classroom. I think it was more slaps in the face from what everybody else says in the class. But theyre just trying to make it go away and let this teacher come back and let them move my son out of a school that i went to and his mom went to. Its really disheartening. Reporter we went to the home of the teacher in question to see if we could get that side of the story. He did not answer the door or our phone calls. Scott budman, nbc bay area news. A u. C. Berkley football star is behind bars and suspended indefinitely from the team. Drew came from livermore high school. He got in argument. The victim says he punched him several times in the face and kicked his dog several times. Drews bail has been set and he is due in court on monday. The department issued a statement. The 2010 san bruno pipeline explosion is helping expose flaws in a federal agency. A watchdog report claims that the Government Agency is not properly doing its job. An Inspector General slammed the pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration with a list of safety criticisms. Claims that the riskiest pipelines arent being targeted and the number of inspections are too low. The san bruno fire was caused by a pipeline not properly welded or inspected. Now to a followup. Leave the trees alone at least for now. Thats what pg e is to do to trees all across the east bay. The company had planned to move more than 700 trees from walnut creek under its pipeline pathways program. It is aimed at taking away trees and other obstacles to make way for thousands of miles of gas lines. On tuesday, though, pg e agreed not to cut down any trees on public or private land for the next six months. In exchange, walnut creek will not sue pg e. They will Work Together on a future tree removal plan. Dont miss the exit. New construction is prompting a warning of sorts. A live look at the bridge at this hour. Work has begun to move the last exit for San Francisco back or south by 1,000 feet. Its part of the new presidio parkway project, and its outlined in red on this map. As you head north on 101, right before you get to the bridge, you see that sign that says last San Francisco exit. Beginning this sunday that last exit will come up even sooner. A spokes woman says the change will be well marked. You will see that sign come up 1,000 feet sooner. If of miss the exit, you know the drill. Reporter Health Care Workers protested in oakland today. Highland hospital in oakland is one that is supervised by this company. Attacks by patients on staff doubled from 2011 to 2012. It has hired more security guards and increased security training. San francisco general points to a ucsf report of concluded in march, that said there was no issue with security staffing. This nursing assistant says she is still hopeful for change. A workplace where she feels safe. We can be able to provide for our patients to get quality care. Health officials report so far this year theyve seen 17 cases. Nine of those in just the last two weeks. Now compare that to last year where there was just a total of 13 cases. Most of the cases, middle or high school students. Experts are urging pregnant women to get vaccinated because whooping cough can be deadly for infants. Family members and caregivers of infants should also be vaccinated. The Missouri Senate passed a bill yesterday that would ban direct sales of tesla vehicles to consumers. The bill requires consumers to buy the cars from franchised dealerships instead of directly from the maker. They say consumers get more options and better prices if allowed to buy from franchised dealers. They have been fighting similar battles in texas and arizona. And when the president signed the National Health care bill and i was there at the white house, it was the first time i sort of thought, maybe you did what you came here to do. He played a key role in obamacare and is fighting to raise the minimum wage in his final months of office. But its not just his office hell be leaving. Hell be leaving the famous washington d. C. House he owns, a house with three congressional roommates. This unique living arrangement inspired the show alpha house. Are you still looking for a place to live . I am, i am. Its worked for us. You can get things done in a bipartisan effort. How come that cant continue on a broader level . Well, because you have the advent of the tea party, and money that now threatens members. If they do work cooperatively with the democrats, theyre going to primary them. Theyre going to take them out. Theyre going to get them out of public office. And thats a huge intimidation factor. Reporter how hard was it for you not just politics, but as a father, as a husband to be commuting back and forth every week for almost 40 years. Its tough. I think the real gift my wife gave me was that she was going to raise the family here and i would commute, and that would take the tension out. Theres no great way to do it with a family. I would think that he would, he didnt engage the congress enough early on. For whatever reasons. I dont know that. But the congress is his partner, whether he likes it or not, or whether he thinks its necessary or not. Reporter and no one told him or he just chose i dont know. I havent speculated on it. I just wish it had been done in a much earlier phase of his term in office, because hes so talented, and he really, i think, understands what needs to be done. Very candid in his response. The congressman says he is tired of commuting. He has 5 million frequent flyer miles on united airlines. You wouldnt want to fly anywhere this weekend. The peninsula starting up in the 40s and 50s. By the afternoon we expect the biggest push of temperatures in palo alto, close to 77. As we see this offshore wind vent build, well get warmer temperatures in San Francisco as well with 68. It takes a day or two in San Francisco for the temperatures to really jump. Eventually some 80s expected. Napa, 77 degrees tomorrow. 75 in pleasanton, 74 in danville and walnut creek expecting low to mid70s. There are going to be some major differences. Saturday, gradually warming up. By sunday, still comfortable. 80s expected across san jose and 70s into San Francisco. Then by tuesday and wednesday, well look at 90s returning inland and also some 80s expected at our coastline. So when will we hit close to 99 degrees . It looks like by wednesday.
