Oh, that is a beautiful reporter at practice this summer for the came briann park Little League Challenger Team, they covered all the bases. They drilled over and over again on hitting, catching, and running. They were, after all, about to head to williamsport, pennsylvania, to play an exhibition game at the Little League world series. The first team from san jose of any ability to get to play there. In the end, though, nothing really could have prepared the players or their parents for what the experience would be like. I cant put words to describe how cool it is to be and also to be participating in it. Reporter his son riley has been playing challenger baseball for a dozen years. And he got to be on the field when riley got his chance at bat. He was the last one to bat. And clear the bases. I was dragging the bat off the home plate when he came around, gave him a big hug. There were tears flowing. It was beautiful, beautiful experience. Reporter Barbara Moroney founded the Challenger Park team with a dream, to simply get these kids on a field, any field. To be on this field, well, that gave her chills. The kids hit the ball and they give themselves like a yes or a thumbs up, or a highfive, or they look up at the stands and see their folks. Im getting goose bumps just talking about it. It was beautiful. Youre going to make me cry now. Reporter the parents of many of these players admit at one time, they wondered if their child with special needs would ever get the experience of playing organized sports. A onceinalifetime experience like this, well, thats clearly a home run. And while they didnt take the traditional route to the world series, it was by no means easy. Only two Challenger Teams in the country are invited to participate. And barbara says it took years to get their team chosen. It wasnt easy, and it wasnt cheap. They had to raise close to 90,000. Wow. No exactly. You had airfare. You had hotel. You had those cool uniforms for the coach, for the player, and for their parents. And it took a lot. They went out and they raised the money, and they got it. But come on, talk about priceless . For kids also as a parent to be able to have that memory that you participated in that. Thats something youll always, always have. You cant put a value on, they exactly. And something they didnt think they would have ever. Exactly. Which make it even more precious. Exactly. Thank you, garvin. Thanks, guys. Lets talk about the weather now. Because were all looking forward to this weekend. My goodness. An infern know. Yes. Nonetheless, throughout the bay area, you see those excessive heat warnings and advisories in place. 100 to 110 inland. At the coastline, 70s to 80s. Also, of course, that increased fire danger.
