Access to all organizations working with the citys homeless response team. But the city was not clear about how to provide this access so the homeless advocates here are a little skeptical about the plan until the city provides more details. Live in san jose, nannette miranda. And the city is investigating a crash involving a car and a pedestrian. The victim was running highway on east 80 toll plaza just after midnight. The chp Officials Say several vehicles hit and ran over the victim. Three driversco pulled over. Chp officials believe that someone else, though, hit the victim first. The initial victim that hit the pedestrian most likely would be blamed for the accident depending on the circumstances. But for some reason we dont know yet they failed to stop. The victim died at the scene, none of the people who stopped after hitting the victim were arrested. Authorities are looking for other vehicles who may have been involved. New details tonight on the person who died in a freak accident near petaluma. The victim is identified as dwayne usho of vallejo. He died after the pickup truck became unconnected. It slammed into a car carrying usher and his family. The victim and two people were treated at the hospital. The driver of the van carrying the trailer did cooperate with chp. Police have not released the identity of the victims after the deadly stabbing in south san jose. Sources say it happened at a family home in almaden valley. Police say when they arrived they found a man with stab wounds and he died a short time later. The female victim stabbed at least one, the suspect is the victims son, they have not identified a motive yet. This is san joses 24th homicide this year. During last year, there were at least 30 homicides at this time. And a man was accused of threatening people with a machete. He came in about 4 30 and came upset about a language barrier, pulling ought a machete, waving it around and yelling the word dead. Frightened witnesses called police. He allegedly went out into the street and screamed. And were tracking lightning out here for the next couple of days. Meteorologist anthony slaughter has more. Someone said they have thunder and lightning up in tahoe. This is what it looked like on the radar, that is the confirmation that we see and hear the thunder. There are severe thunderstorm warnings that have expired. Not only are we getting the heavy rain, lightning, gusty winds and hail. That will stay across the sierra tonight and tomorrow. For us here at home unfortunately we are not going to be able to get any of this rain. But you will notice, there are a number of 18 Lightning Strikes in the past hour down from about 22 the past hour. So the storms are starting to weaken. That is good news for the folks here. We wouldnt see any rain tonight. We may actually see a few rogue Lightning Strikes. There are clouds and moisture building. You can see from the water vapor image building. Well be keeping an eye to the sky. The thing to note here tonight again i do think northern portions of napa county and Sonoma County probably will be the best bet of hearing any thunder, maybe even seeing lightning. But the best bet again will come tomorrow after 5 00. Most of the day will be dry, the best chance from the trivalley to the north bay, everybody else will be dry. And the racing world is mourning the loss of one of its own after the tragic incident claimed the life of a promising young driver, 20yearold kevin ward jr. Was struck and killed by race car driver tony stewart during a race yesterday. Now investigators are trying to determine exactly how it happened. Nbcs mark barger has more. Reporter the fatal incident happened more than half way through last nights sprint car race. Half way through, tony stewart struck a driver just moments after their cars collided. An investigation is ongoing. Headed by this agency and reaching out to other organizations as appropriate to try and identify all the potential factors for this ontrack crash and subsequent death. Officials say 20yearold kevin ward jr. Had gotten out of his car on the dimly lit track and appeared to be trying to confront stewart when he was hit. Ward was treated at the scene but died at the hospital a short time later. It is just an unbelievable tragedy. Our hearts go out to obviously kevin and his family. Thoughts and prayers, this is a very tough, very emotional time for everybody. Reporter stewart, one of the most famous face news nascar withdrew from todays race at watkins glenn. He told me take time to sleep on it. He feels strongly this is the right thing to do. We at shr support it and agree with it. Like i said it is a difficult time for both parties. Reporter stewart had only recently returned to sprint cup racing after suffering a broken leg last year in iowa just weeks after crashing on the same track as last nights accident. Authorities say stewart is fully cooperating. As we speak at this time there is no evidence in hand or no facts that would support a criminal charge or support criminal intent on the part of anybody. Ground troops will not be returning to iraq. And israel and Ground Troops agreeing to a ceasefire, the truce was brokered in egypt and is aimed at giving both sides time in cairo to work on peace which would end the hostilities in the region. Now that is aimed to give israel and hamas time in cairo to set down conditions for a longterm truce. That is what has been happening in the last ten days or so. The last humanitarian effort ended friday morning here, 10 a. M. Local time. The shooting today has not been too bad. There is a marked decline in the intensity of the violence. Hamas fired about 30 rockets from gaza into israel today but they were smaller rockets, mostly mortars aimed at the local communities. You could see them around the edge of gaza. It seemed as if hamas was not really trying to provoke israel too much but rather just to keep the flame alive to get israel to come to the talks. Israel troops killed a 14yearold boy wounding several other people. Also israel says that they have been targeting hamas operatives.
