He asked the teller, how is your day going . The teller said, too soon to tell. Thats when two Armed Robbers came storming in. It just felt like something out of a movie, you know. They had these black bandanas across their face. Reporter tim wentz elle of san jose spoke to us by facetime about a terrifying experience for the 15 employees and 10 or so customers in this Wells Fargo Bank in campbell just after 11 00 yesterday morning. I was directly underneath the teller counter at the time, just trying to cover myself up and stay still. Reporter the men were armed with handguns and wearing gray beanies and black masks. They ordered everyone to the ground and demanded money. Wentzelle says the tellers turned over two drawers full of cash and more cash from the vault. The robbers jumped into a black honda civic and made their getaway. The thing that sticks out in my mind is the last robber to leave the bank told everyone to have a nice day, which i thought was kind of strange. Reporter police found the car which turned out to be stolen about a quarter mile from the bank. But they still havent found the two robbers or the person who drove the getaway car. We dont have many Bank Robberies in campbell, especially these type of takingover robberies. It is quite out of the ordinary. It causes us concern. Reporter wentzelle says he wasnt in fear for his life because he didnt think the robbers were there to hurt anyone. But the experience did give him some perspective on life. It make s you step back and makes you appreciate sort of what you have. Reporter thankfully no one was hurt and wentz elle says robbers brought a Police Scanner into the bank so they could hear when police were on their way. Another developing story to tell you, a strip mall in vallejo shut down after an officerinvolved shooting. It happened less than two hours ago off interstate 80. Were hearing very little from police at this point, but witnesses have told us that this started with a traffic stop. They say a suspect ran and officers caught up with him in this parking lot. At this moment, were trying to find out more information and find out exactly what happened. Two fire trucks rushing to an emergency crashed into each other. This happened in daly city and two firefighters are in the hospital. The fire engine and the ladder truck collided at the intersection of crocker and brunswick around 9 00 a. M. Today. This is what it looked like, pretty bad. Several parked cars also hit. Officials say theyre investigating what led to the collision. The firefighters hurt are some stable condition. And the search is on for a hitandrun driver who killed a man in san jose. This happening shortly before 2 00 a. M. Today at the intersection of seven trees boulevard and east capital. Police say the victim was crossing the street when a driver hit him. Investigators dont have a description yet of the car. The streets in the area were shut down for several hours as investigators collected evidence. Those streets have since reopened. A disturbing story out of pennsylvania tonight. A High School Sophomore is accused of going on a stabbing rampage. Police say the 16yearold student stabbed 19 students and a Security Guard. Witnesses say the boy ran through the school carrying two knives. The attack went on for 20 minutes and spread across several classrooms and hallways. One quick thinking student is being praised for pulling a fire alarm to warn others, while another says he was walking down the stairs when he saw the stabber and quickly sprung into action. Mr. King immobilized him, pinned him down. I jumped on top of him as well and just held down his wrists and arms and tried to keep the knives stationary. Just kind of hits you, and you dont really think its going to happen until it happens to you. It was rough. The assistant principal and a Security Guard eventually tackled the boy. At least 12 people were hospitalized with serious injuries. The tenth grader is now in custody as investigators try to determine a motive. Continuing coverage now on the missing malaysian airliner. Two new signals detected today is now giving searchers confidence theyre closing in on the planes location. Todays signals picked up on australian ship searching the southern indian ocean. Also new analysis of the signals heard over the weekend confirm they are made from a manmade device and are consistent with the sound that a black box makes. These are the members of the California National guard 129th air rescue wing crew that parachuted into the open ocean to treat a baby very sick with salma n salmonella. The big thing with the baby is they can be fine and then dive quickly. Reporter the familys 36foot sailboat the rebel heart called for help when lera got sick at the same time the sailboat lost communication and started taking on water 900 miles from cabo san lucas. The family this morning deborded a navy ship in san diego. Their 36foot sailboat is now at the bottom of the ocean. The advising physician says the crew made all of it look easier than it was. We brought home a family. Everybodys alive. Everybodys healthy. Its a huge save. Dont underestimate how big of a deal this was. So that father has been taken to the hospital. The boy. But still missing is a 14yearold boy. Its unclear if that is another son or a nephew of that man. That boy is still being looked for. Homestead restaurant in oakland has stopped use the citrus, opting to swap out limes with oranges and other fruit. Theyre not anything too out of the ordinary for San Francisco standards. Theres not even a Small Craft Advisory issued for the coastline or a high surf advisory. The rescuers are currently dealing with water temperatures near average, 57 to 58 degrees, and were looking at wave heights at about 4 to 6 feet, winds out of the northwest 10 to 15 Miles Per Hour. So all in all nothing too unusual here for the San Francisco coastline. It usually is always dangerous all year long, just keep that in mind if youre heading out to the beach and youre here visiting. It lets look, today we had warmer air and also sunshine throughout the interior valley, saratoga 84 after 94 yesterday, 82 in dublin, south san jose, 79, pat low at that time toe 76. Outside, temperatures down, way down, look at the peninsula, 68 degrees right now. Weve got a little bit of cloud cover, also here across the east bay from emeryville looking toward San Francisco. You can see the marine layer up to about 800 feet. The strong westerly wind at the coastline helping to give us this huge fog layer. The fog is widespread from the northern coastline down to the southern end. Well get another view of that. There we go. You can see again its mainly impacting areas in San Francisco, also across point reyes toward santa cruz. As we head toward tomorrow, what youll notice is we will start off with wareas of fog again frm the immediate coastline right throughout San Francisco, all through marin and napa, sonoma counties, likely low clouds. Mainly clear to the east and south bay. Through the afternoon hours, well get plenty of sunshine for the interior valleys. But with the fog staying at the coastline, it will help temperatures from getting too hot for tomorrow. Lets see where we stand on this microclimate forecast through thursday. Temperatures upper 70s in san jose, were looking at 80 in sarato saratoga, 81 in morgan hill. Well have a widespread mix of 70s throughout the peninsula, but plenty of chilly air in San Francisco. Thats where that westerly onshore wind isnt going to budge, 69 there across the embarcadero, 64 for the marina, 66 in hayes valley. North bay, east bay and trivalley, napa at 76 for your high, santa rosa 78 and for the east bay likely 80 in walnut creek and a mix of upper 70s to low 80s throughout the trivalley. As we head throughout the next several days and that forecast, what youll find is aboveaverage temperatures into the upcoming weekend. We should be at 67 this time of year, but even by saturday and sunday with some gradual cooling looks like the mid70s will hold strong and also mostly sunny skies. Toyota is recalling more than 6 million cars because of five different defects, which include a defective engine starter. So far nearly 30 models produced between april 2004 and august 2013 are affected. There have been no reports of injuries or crashes related to the recalls, but two fires have been reported in relation to that defective engine.
