We can see that heavy thick black smoke. Just emanating from those trees. Rob mayeda has been watching this. Youve been watching it sigs 3 00. Your take on the winds. You saw that black plume going straight up from the ground. Weve seen the winds pick up as theyve helped to push some of that smoke off to the south and east as we see the winds right now, pushing steam and some of the light smoke away from the fire site. You can see how some of the smoke and mainly steam now is starting to move very close to the ground. We see typically this time of day after a day with unusually warm temperatures of highs in saratoga nearby in the mid 80s. Were getting a late day sea breeze. Well take you into the south bay for a look at the winds. The winds are five to 15 miles an hour which will continue to push the smoke generally to the south and southeast away from the fire. As you saw in the live picture, they got a good knockdown on that. Stay downwind of that for the next hour or so. We did have unusually dry and warm temperatures around the bay area today. Things could turn even hotter tomorrow. Especially toward the trivalley. Coming up in a few minutes, back to you. Were continuing to monitor whats happening out there. The woman was last seen there. Reporter the womans parents and park rangers do not believe that she ran off. They do not believe that she is in hiding. Unfortunately they believe something happened to this hiker and thats why they sort of need everyones help. Take a look at this surveillance picture. This is the last picture taken of magdalena glinkowski. Thats right after she parked and then went out for a hike. That was on march 30th and she has not been seen since. Just this weekend, park rangers and more than 100 volunteers all scoured this area. They were looking over 26,000 acres and found no sign of miss glinkowski. They have no clue, no leads to go on and theyre hoping someone out there may have seen her or talked to her before she left for her hike. A short time ago we were able to talk to her parents who have just flown into town in the bay area and they are still clinging to hope. She was probably, if she is in a difficult situation she would fight. Reporter now, magdalena glinkowski, one of the reasons they do not believe that she is just in hiding or that she ran away is because that surveillance picture that you saw, thats right after she went and paid for parking and then put the parking ticket on the dash of her car. Park rangers say that is not the sign of someone planning to run off after they went for a hike. And she was an expert hiker. She had been in this area before. This is some pretty rough terrain so there are a lot of places where something could have happened to her. A seventh person has been run down and killed in San Francisco. Police say a driver hit and killed a man last night as that man was crossing van ness at golden gate. This is the fourth pedestrian life along van ness avenue so far this year alone. We have new details on an odd crime in San Francisco and it is Getting International attention. Take a look. And all of a sudden i just see eight hooded figures walk out from the corner over here and walk up to the car. I thought they looked like they were up to no good. Sure enough, they walk up to this smart car here. All huddled around it and just lifted up and set it on its hind legs. Reporter in all, four smart cars were flipped over overnight. Police dont know if it is a horrible prank by a group of young people or a political statement against technology. No one is claiming responsibility. We do believe all four were fitted by the same group of individuals. We have a witness identifying this group at six to eight suspects wearing black hood sweatshirts. It was reported about 3 00 this afternoon on mossbrook circle. This is near westgate maul near to Harker School and baker elementary. They were not in any danger throughout the afternoon. The one home has been completely destroyed. You see the footage here. Two others have been damaged. This is a series of homes there on mossbrook circle, thankfully no injuries despite the three alarm fire. There are 12 people who have been evacuated. The residents and some of the neighbors there. Well continue to follow the story as it is warranted throughout the evening. Still lots of Unanswered Questions about a deadly san jose fire that broke out this morning. It happened around 10 00 in the morning when firefighters were called to a burning motor home. When they were dousing the flames they found a man dead inside that rv. Investigators are trying to identify him. Because that part of the creek is also frequented by homeless people, it is not clear if the fire victim was actually living in the area or just passing through and then staying in that rv. No word on his identity or how that fire started at this point. Another fire to tell you about. This is near highway 101. It went to two alarms early today. Those flames breaking out before dawn in a commercial building which house as landscaping business. No one was hurt and there is no word on what caused it. The Fire Department said it is possible someone was living in that building. A man injured in an Early Morning shooting is in the tal. Police say it happened around 3 00 in the morning in south san jose. This is near samuel elementary school. The victim was hit by a gunshot at least once and was rushed to the hospital in serious but stable condition. Police have no suspects but they stay victim is talking and cooperating, maybe can help provide some information. To the latest on the malaysian flight 370. American search crews are running a hey tech sonar a mail or more beneath the indian ocean trying to hone in on pings they heard yesterday. It has reenergized the search for the black boxes and for an answer on what may have caused the tragedy. Reporter hope is riding on the australian ship ocean shield and its towed pinger locator run by a team from the u. S. Navy. Today in the center of the new search area, their goal is to reacquire and zero in on the sounds they picked up sunday. One ping heard for two hours. Then two pings heard. When ocean shield towed the locator back at a depth of 1. 9 miles. Significantly this would be consistent with transmissions from both the flight data recorder and the cockpit voice recorder. Reporter data in the boxes will last years but the pinger batteries will soon die making finding the recorders much harder. After malaysian flight 370 disappeared, plan a was to find the black boxes and solve the mystery by first finding debris. Then the crash site. But the airborne search has failed. This is plan b, a long shot. If we luck out, it will be the first time in history that weve been able to go without debris and low locate the black boxes. Reporter cameras set to go down maybe three miles to look for the boxes. Another drone later would rip open wreckage and get the recorders. Back here at home, a peeping tom suspect has been arrested at a branch of ohlone college. It is near 880 about five miles west of the main campus. The student reported a man in the womens restaurant. He was peering over the top of the stalls. The College Administrators say he is a 20yearold san jose man. Fans gearing up for tomorrows home opener. San francisco, around 76 degrees. Around sfo, 81. You see the 70s and 80s, by this time tomorrow at this time it will be another five to eight degrees. This is on top of the warmup. Right now, 82 in san martin and san jose. Compare to 24 hours ago. You can see it is 10 degrees warm he. The sea breeze essentially stopped. The marine layer got squished down to the ocean and backed off. Yes, the winds are on shore. But without the low clouds in place it is like having the fan without the air conditioner. You need the clouds to cool it down. It will push some of the smoke from that fire weve been talking about to areas just south into saratoga and programs down toward campbell and areas south of san jose for the next hour or so. By 8 00, these wind speeds should begin to dial back. Notice the lack of fog on the coast. We will see some coastal low clouds likely returning later this week which will signal a cooling change for the second half of the week. Before that happens, heres the futurecast for tomorrow. Mostly clear skies. Heading into the afternoon, a few high clouds going on which may block the sun a little bit. Certainly not going to bring us any rain. And the temperatures look quite warm for tuesday in those inland valleys. The change well see wednesday into thursday. It will initiate the sea breeze which will bring in the low clouds and fog. Come wednesday into thursday and friday, you see it in the sevenday forecast. Thats when the ocean conditioning comes back and well see the temperatures cool down. Morgan hill up to 90 degrees. Saratoga, about 89. Sunnyvale will be pretty toasty tomorrow. Down san jose, a bit closer to the water about, 85 degrees. I think the sea breeze will start to cool things off a bit on wednesday and there you see San Francisco. You see 70s and 80s. Well get there by noon tomorrow.
