Now, he became a giants announcer during the teams first season back in San Francisco in 58 after playing ball for the phillies farm team. His career spanned six decades until he retired in 2002. Not surprisingly, a number of bay area teams are responding to lon simmons death. Jed york released this statement in part saying much more than an iconic voice in the great history of bay area sport, lon shared his passion for this regions teams with generations of fans. For more than two decades, 49ers fans were treated to the great talents of a man with High Integrity and tremendous humility. While giants president larry bear said like many fans, my earliest giants memories were of listening to lon and russ hodges on my transistor radio. The quakes held a special Easter Egg Hunt after yesterdays game. The quakes lost but the team raised more than 10,500 for officer Michael Johnsons family. This morning, there is a 20,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of a gunman who shot and killed a musician in oakland. Police say the musician was in the wrong place at the wrong time. That shooting happened early yesterday morning outside the golden bull bar on 14th street near city hall. Police say two men got into a fight, one left, and then returned with a gun and started shooting. 26yearold victim who had just performed at the bar was hit in the crossfire. The gunman and intended target took off. Another man was also hurt but is expected to be okay. A firefighter tackled a woman who was trying to set another person on fire. Now investigators are wondering if shes behind a number of other crimes in the north bay. Yesterdays attack happened in mill valley just off panoramic highway. Officers say an offduty marin county firefighter saw the woman throwing lighter fluid on a 50yearold victim. The firefighter tackled the woman before she could set him on fire. The Sheriffs Department has taken samples, and theyre going to be pursuing to see if theres a tie between the assault and the fire at the bottom of the driveway. Not only was there a fire on that property the house was also vandalized with rapist and murderer scrawled in red spray paint. The woman who was tackled is now in police custody. Investigators think she may be linked to other crimes and fires in the area. And two fires in the same home at different times sounds pretty suspicious. Firefighters agree. Livermore Fire Department officials now investigating both as arson. The first fire broke out friday night at a home on kennedy street near livermore avenue and 580. That fire considered accidental. Then a second fire reported just 12 hours later. Nobody was hurt in either fire but the home did sustain extensive damage. Up next at 11 00, a startling discovery about breast milk sold online. Researchers found that breast milk sold online isnt necessarily pure breast milk. Nbc bay areas Nannette Miranda is live where the bay areas only Mothers Milk Bank is located. Whats their reaction to this study . I have to assume they were not surprised. Reporter well right. The executive director here at mothers Mothers Milk Bank is alarmed and worried. Youre right she was not surprised because she already knew there were already potentially dangerous bacteria present in breast milk sold over the internet and now this. The new study out of nationwide Childrens Hospital in ohio found that 10 of breast milk found online bought online contains cows milk. Scientists purchased 102 samples and tested them. Their findings suggest that cows milk may have been added intentionally to stretch out supply and sell more. Here at Mothers Milk Bank in san jose the only Breast Milk Bank in the bay area workers do a blood test on donors then pasturize the donated milk. It ensures its safe for babies that need it. Of course, the worry about that breast milk with cows milk in it is that some infants are allergic to cows milk and the buyer wouldnt know its in there when purchasing over the internet. So its risky, says the executive director. The issues have always been to us that theyre not regulated. Theres nobody watching over. If theres a child out there that the mother bought the milk online and a bad outcome unfortunately happened or the child couldnt take the milk theres no regulatory body that one can go to to complain about the milk. Simultaneously, with this first round of rain the main cold front, were going to have some very gusty winds. I cant stress enough how much instability this system has associated with it. This is the kind of rainfall where we could accumulate before all is said and done up to an inch of rain. Expecting anywhere between 0. 75 to 1 inch. In the Higher Elevations, maybe 2 to 3 inches. And its a cold storm, so its going to bring generous amounts of snowfall up to lake tahoe potentially 2 to 3 feet. Coldest storm system weve actually had in over six months. I think it could actually be the coldest system that weve had in over a year. Were just going to have to wait and see. Then measure up the data as we head throughout tomorrow. The discovery in the fault lines running through the bay area. So an earthquake worse than loma prieta, the new scientists after a discovery about two dangerous bay area fault lines. New and ominous information thats shaking up the way seismologists are looking at our earthquake risk. The map shows what it is. Uc berkeley scientists claim they have proven that the hayward fault in the east bay is connected with another fault, connected underground and on the surface. Nbc bay areas ian cole shows us what this New Discovery means for those of us living above. Reporter right now im standing on the pacific plate, which is moving this way. And on this side over here im on the north american plate thats moving this way. The hayward fault has been slipping for years. Its path visible from richmond to fremont. People see cracks in their homes and sidewalks. But what they didnt know until now is that fault is connected to the calaveras fault to the east. We showed we have a direct surface and deep connection. Its just a branch of the fault. Reporter this scientist is with the uc seismologist lab. Scientists used to believe the maximum earthquake would be a 6. 9. The new information shows the east bay could experience closer to a 7. 3 and affect many more people to the east. The fault is to extend all the way south. If we had even more structures we could have a bigger earthquake. Reporter the last big earthquake was in 1868, a 6. 8 magnitude. Scientists say a big one is expected every 150 years. So right now, the fault has a lot of stress and has never been more ready to split. More details now on the hayward fault, which runs parallel to the San Andreas Fault but on the over side of the bay. The most recent notable shaking happened in 2012 which is when two quakes struck within seconds of each other. The strongest quake was a 4. 0. You have to go back nearly 150 years for the most damaging quake on that fault line a 7. 0 earthquake which hit in 1868. 30 people were killed. Closing arguments are under way in the Boston Marathon bombing trial after months of graphic and emotional testimony from more than 90 witnesses. Jurors will now get their say in this highprofile case. Jay grey has more from boston. Defense attorneys are expected to rest their case as soon as today in the Aaron Hernandez murder trial. Hernandez was an allpro tight end for the patriots when Police Arrested him for the murder of a family friend in 2013. The prosecution spent two months laying out its case. The defense is expected to take one day, today, with jury deliberations to follow. In the last hour the fraternity accused in a debunked Rolling Stone article about an alleged gang rape announced plans to sue the magazine. Also today, Rolling Stone officially retracted the story and a scathing independent review of the magazines failures was released. The Columbia School of journalism issued the report examining missteps Rolling Stone made when it published a 2012 story about a gang rape at a Fraternity House at the university of virginia. Columbia University Officials say the magazine failed at reporting, editing, editorial supervision, and basic Fact Checking and Rolling Stone did not try hard enough to locate the person accused of orchestrating that assault. I was the first kid that was on the robot lung for eight weeks. Literally hundreds of people have taken care of her. Extremely unusual to get that sick from influenza. Its also very unusual to require that kind of support for that period of time. Reporter today after all of that, she gets to go home. I asked lydia what she wants to do most. Its weird. Ive been living this life for three months. I love everybody here so much. But i love all my family back home. This is a really strange feeling. You can clearly see that now from all of our various microclimates. Were not expecting that really heavy rain until we get into tonight. But it will continue through tomorrow morning. So this is what you can expect. Now through this evening clouds increasing. That wind will build like you can see here. Getting into tonight and tuesday morning, bouts of rain and fierce wind coupled together that could make for dangerous driving conditions. Do keep that in mind. Then we have that risk for thunderstorms tonight through tuesday evening. Hail gusty wind possible. The best chance looks like the coast and the Higher Elevations of the north and south bay. Areas to the south of the Golden Gate Bridge still mostly dry at that point. Heavy rain moving into sonoma and marin county and on its way to San Francisco. We continue that until about 4 00 a. M. It all started when sweetie escaped outside her family home outside tucson in 2012. Somehow she ended up miles away found by workers inside a warehouse just this past week. They corralled her and took her to the humane society. We scanned the dog for a microchip, and it did come up with one. We contacted the microchip company. It was registered so we were able to get in touch with the owners. Now sweetie and her family are reunited after years. How she ended up so far from home is an absolute mystery.
