But still even by our standards, close to 70 in livermore. 66 in the south bay. So your ac unit may still be running in the tri valley, as we see not much of the sea breeze. Were starting to see it in San Francisco. Notice the wind direction and speed, a little stronger than at this time last night. So tomorrows forecast, kind of interesting. For the coast and the inner bay, well see temperatures drop a couple decrgreedegrees, but not impact into places like the tri valley or areas around the south bay. Even if the winds onshore, not going to get a big cooling effect, even though fog and clouds expect the to reform. And then during the afternoon, a few high clouds passing by. The cause has not been announced. Changes are now coming to a Program Designed to help prevent teenage suicide on the peninsula. This comes after we revealed some of the Security Guarding on the Railroad Tracks are frequently absent. Vickie nguyen has new details we first reported on problems with the track watch program in february. But they were already warned that missing guards would become an issue and failed to act. Now as the city looks to make changes, questions remain about the programs effectiveness. Our hidden cameras first showed you some guards sleeping and texting on the job while others left their post empty for hours, during critical times when trains were running in palo alto. The track watch program was created to keep an eye on suicidal teens. But many raised concerns after a series of nbc bay area reports exposed problems, starting with some guards committing crimes on the job. To others missing in action with the current company, cypress security. These are our tax dollars, yes, palo alto has a lot of money, yippy, good for them. Reporter now weave learned some of these problems could have been avoided. We obtained this list of solutions. Conditions at the tracks created the challenges it predicted and that it proposed solutions to the city months ago. Back in december and again in march. One of the biggest, the lack of adequate restroom into silts. Cypress said guards must travel anywhere from 1. 3 miles to 3. 5 miles each way to get to the nearest bathroom at a safe way store which leaves posts empty for nearly an hour. They recommended installing portable restrooms. But it wasnt until may 2nd that the city hired one additional guard to provide relief at the posts during rest and meal breaks. Its unreasonable to think that an officer has to walk half a mile to use the restroom. Reporter we showed the recommendations to this man. I think the recommendations are outstanding. Every one is spot on, but i would have made the recommendations at the onset. Reporter they also want the city to install permanent guard shacks. They predicted Security Officers would seek warmer and drier locations and take refuge in their personal vehicles. Something we observed over multiple nights of surveillance. There was clearly a disconnect between what the best of intentions were versus what the outcome was. Reporter the importance of the Program Continues to hang over the city. In may, another recent High School Graduate ended her life on the tracks, prompting the city to add a fifth post. Several guards complained to residents and us saying they are regularly asked to work overtime shifts of 12 hours or more. Eight to ten hours is what you really want them to work. Reporter they have seen 75 turnover because of these conditions, despite giving workers a raise of 2 per hour. Do you think that the Security Company and the city leaders didnt prepare well enough for the project . I think there were opportunities missed. Reporter he says the city needs to own up to the responsibility, to oversee the taxpayer money its spending, roughly 1 million to make sure that a worth while program in concept is worthwhile in effectiveness. The current contract ends june 30th. We asked for an incamera interview but they declined saying they are in negotiations for a new contract. Meanwhile, they say they are proud of the officers who have intervened in multiple situations to protect teens. If you have a tip for our investigative unit, give us a call at 888996tips or send us an email to the unit at nbcbayarea. Com. Coming up next, a Dangerous Mission to antarctica. And more on the warriors. A recordbreak being season ended with loss. Im Kelli Johnson at oracle arena with sports. The dream season ends with devastation. The cavaliers win. And while the warriors said coming into the postseason that their historic year and 73 wins would mean nothing without another title, the players, while disappointed know theres a lot to be proud of. You learn from this. We learn from what its like to win a championship last year, which i think made us the best regular season team in history. And well learn from how the playoffs run went. When we get back here next year. So obviously, nothings ever guaranteed. You cant take this stage for granted. And it is extremely hard to win a championship. Thats why you pour champagne on yourselves. Its going to be a long three months over the summer thinking about it. But that doesnt mean, you know, we cant put this, another notch in the belt and move forward and come back stronger next year. I only care about records. Theyre going to be, we cant take them with us when we die, but what im most proud of is how we came together as a family. We competed every night. We won to the, we lost together. We bonded, built great relationships. And those are the things i cherish the most when its all said and done. We had a goal at the beginning of the year to repeat. And that goal we failed. But i dont look at this entire season as a failure, because theres been too many great things that happened to this team, to this group of guys, to this Coaching Staff and organization, you know, so its been an amazing year. We just, we failed that one goal we had. But this whole season isnt a failure to me, you know, we accomplished some great things. We didnt reach the end prize, but there will be more years for that. When i came back, i knew i had the right ingredients and the right blueprint to help this franchise get to a place that weedd never been. And thats what it was all about. I mean, right now its the excitement. Its not even relief, its excitement for us as a team, as a franchise, as a city, as a community, you know, to be able to continue to build up our city, continue to be an inch splags to our city, its everything and im happy to be a part of it. So how good was lebron james . I aufrnled over 36 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists to win his third ring. He needs to be evacuated. More tonight from kelly cobiella. Reporter 57 below zero, jet fuel frieezes, but tonight a worker is so sick theyve launched a rare rescue mission, so dangerous its been done only twice in the stations 60year history. In 2001, a weatherproof twin prop plane flew in to rescue a doctor desperately sick with pancreatitis. As they tried to leave shall the wind flaps jammed in the freezing air. It looked like we were really stuck. And after we got the flap problem taken care of, found we were stuck to the ice. Reporter two of these specialized planes are now making their weigh south, from canada, colorado, ecuador, then to a base station on the tip of antarctica. One plane stays behind in case the other gets in trouble, flying another 1500 miles to the south pole, touching down in high winds on a sheet of ice. The sun sets in march and doesnt rise again until august. But for the next six days, the crews will have the light of the moon. All they need now is help from the weather. Tomorrow is the First Official day of summer, the longest sunlight of the year, daylight of the year, first time a full moon has fallen on summer soltice in decades. Rob mayeda is here. What part of that moon is not full . Maybe 1 . We had partly cloudy skies. You can see what is known as the strawberry moon in june. Related to the warm temperatures, short harvesting time for strawberries. There you go. No fog in the way. Temperatures still pretty mild out there, including the tri valley, still near 70 degrees, 56 in san jose, and waiting for low clouds around San Francisco where were seeing Cool Temperatures in the 50s. 66 in san jose. A hint, maybe of low clouds trying to reform there. 58 in San Francisco. Apartment se and the sea breeze, a little resurgent. And a little bit of low cloud cover. We could see patchy fog and a little low cloud kcover heading towards tomorrow morning. When you get low clouds, sometimes the high can compress it close to the sea level. So we could see patchy low clouds, maybe mist with some of those clouds along the oceanfacing side. And 50s and 60s to start and temperatures will be rising again. We had 80s in santa cruz. The beach forecast maybe not quite as hot. But upper 60s to 70 in ocean beach. Temperatures right now still above 100 in palm springs, and were talking temperatures going above 120 in Coachella Valley tomorrow. Were luckily sitting on the outer fringes of this large system, so its the valleys that will see temperatures rise. The temperatures ebb and flow as we go through the week. San francisco seeing temperatures in the 70s. And this is the trend were going to see repeat itself as we go through the week with downtown san jose seeing a chance of climbing through the 90s on thursday and trending a little cooler on saturday. Similar trend around San Francisco, never getting too hot along the coast and inner bay, but thursday looks to be the hottest day. The tri valley, inland valley locations especially toward the east bay staying in the 90s we think tomorrow, even though we may see a little cooling towards oakland and the interior east bay, along the waterline. Out toward the tri valley, numbers in the low to mid90s through most of the week and probably hanging onto 90 degrees as we approach next weekend and maybe another warmup towards next sunday. The official start of summer tomorrow, sevenday, eightday, nineday, tenday forecast keeping the temperatures in the 80s and 90s. Possibly spare the air days this week. Back to you.
