Reporter Airline Officials are saying despite the rules that the plane did crash, there are no signs of wreckage. Weve learned there were four americans on board, including a mother and her infant and now more than 12 hours have past since the plane went missing. There are military planes and ships and helicopters from three Different Countries searching the waters to try and find this malaysian jet. It went missing about two hours after takeoff from kuala lumpur. The airline says the plane would not have enough fuel to still be in the air. They say that no one has reported the plane landing anywhere, so it seems all indications that this plane has gone down somewhere. The airline says in total, there were 12 crew members with 227 passengers, representing 14 Different Countries. Meteorologists in that area say there was no significant weather in that area at the time, so that likely would not have contributed to what happened. And the pilots simply stopped communicating with air Traffic Control. Malaysian airlines have not been able to contact all of the families. Of course, everyone in this situation is just hoping that there are survivors from this plane. Very good. Thanks for the update, chase. This flight is a boeing 777, a jet we are familiar with here in the bay area. The only previous deadly crash involving a boeing 777 was last year at sfo. Three people died in that accident. Pilot error is believed to have caused the crash there. The boeing 777 has one of the best safety records in aviation. The wings are made by a Japanese Company that told boeing its manufacturing process could cause cracking. A dramatic turn of events in a 25yearold cold case. Cathy zimmer was found dead in the back of a car parked at the san jose airport. This was in the late 80s. After 25 years of waiting, cathy zimmers family found out tonight investigators arrested her husband, david, and his Brother Robert in connection with her murder. We talked to her daughter debbie by phone tonight. Shocked, definitely shocked. Were still trying to digest what has been told to us. Reporter the answer to who killed cathy zimmer, a 28yearold san jose mother of two teens, has finally been answered, after 25 long years. Investigators say it turns out her killers were people she knew quite well. Her husband, david zimmer, and her brotherinlaw, Robert Zimmer. Debbie lawrence cant believe it. Its senseless, because i dont believe that murder has to happen. But on the other hand, i guess theres a reason why it was [ inaudible ] reporter the brothers have been charged with her murder. Almost 25 years to the day cathy zimmer was found dead in her car, parked at the san jose airport back on march 10, 1989. Investigators never gave up on this case. This is one of the cases that we felt really merited attention. Both because of the tragic nature, as well as someone of the leads that we felt that we could follow and hopefully crack this case. Reporter about a month ago, investigators showed us a piece of evidence, a colorful quilt found covering her body. They hoped it might jog a memory and bring closure to the case. While the District Attorney cannot comment, this Court Document shows that back in july 2012, the d. A. s crime lab analyzed a dna swab taken from a piece of her clothing worn at the time of her death. Investigators found Robert Zimmer as a possible match. He was my daytoday father figure for the majority of my life at that time. Its a kick to the gut. Reporter we learned cathy and her husband, david, we are separated at the time of her death. The proposal goes before the city council on tuesday. We have new details tonight on a proposed Cyber Bullying law hoping to crack down on cyber bullies. The proposal is named after 15yearold audrey pott, the student who committed suicide who was sexually assaulted by three classmates. The proposal would make it easier for prosecutors to bring felony adult charges against juvenile suspects and could include prison time. Thats much different than what the pott family experienced. We were forced to sit through the juvenile process and witness the great protections provided to the perpetrators in this case. Basically, their crimes were kept in secrecy. There was no public conviction. The three boys in the assault served 30 to 45 days in Juvenile Hall for the crime. A student reported a Sexual Assault at the World Academy school, a Charter School near 28th avenue and foothill bull yard. You see the police activity. School leaders say a 7yearold girl told teachers a stranger came up to her and molested her around 4 00 this afternoon. The school immediately went into lockdown and called police. Police searched the area but did not find any suspects. A followup on the story of a teacher accused of child molestation. A judge raised the bail to 17 million and the School District is scrambling. The charges now stand at 27, including kidnapping. He was arrested wednesday at richmonds Mira Vista Middle School where hes been teaching since december. The same School District released him from another school just weeks before during another Sexual Misconduct investigation. The School District is now overhauling hiring protocols. If you use too much water you can go to jail. The Water District may impose tough new laws. Cheryl hurd joins us in union city tonight with the details. Sounds very interesting. Lets get you outside, and right now clear skies across the entire bay from the south bay to the north bay. Those clear skies leading to cold temperatures. Mid 40s in to the north bay. Well take a look at San Francisco. Again, fog free right now and relatively calm winds for sf out of the winds at 5 miles per hour. So not Strong Enough to get major fog event going over the next three to four hours. Were looking at clear skies and calm winds coming out of the northwest. Again, about 2 to 3 miles an hour. Thats where i wanted to start off with, our temperature trend throughout the next three days. By saturday, another day with some warm and above average weather, just a little bit warmer than we had for today, so it gets better. 74 for the average on saturday. Sunday, it gets cooler. Monday, temperatures in the upper 60s. That temperature trend going down is a sign of our next storm system that will be moving in. Lets get a look at the timing on that rain. We need it. We are in some of the worst Drought Conditions we have seen in decades here across california. 1 00 p. M. For tomorrow, cloud cover begins to increase across the north bay. As we head throughout the evening hours, everyone starts to see the clouds increase. You can see the rain line, holding off to the north, just a slight chance of showers up into santa rosa. Even by sunday morning, well keep that chase of showers north of santa rosa. Sunday night well get some rain filtering across. And by the overnight hours of monday, well get rainfall down here towards portions of san jose. So sunday night, also into early monday morning is when the next rain is going to be. So i dont want to get too ahead of myself. Lets put it in reverse a little bit here and get you back into that saturday forecast. Some of the most sunshine for tomorrow, expected the more south you go. Well go with 73 for your high, sunny skies. Morgan hill at 74. On shore flow across the peninsula, bringing cloud cover and temperatures in the low to mid 70s. 74 in palo alto and San Francisco and downtown should eke out with a 70 degree reading. The other thing youre going to want to watch out for tomorrow, especially in the south bay with sunny skying is the pollen. Take a look. Its going to be maxed out in all categories saturday, especially across portions of the south bay. Well take you to the north bay, east bay and tri valley. Napa should still get close to 75 degrees. Oakland with 70. For the tri valley, 74. 73 in livermore. Again, sunny on saturday. Then by sunday, the storm approaches, cloud cover increases. And temperatures start to drop. 68 on sunday for napa. Again, a slight chance of showers, 66 in San Francisco. San jose expecting 70. And the clocks push ahead one hour with the time change. I think i got everything on my list here.
