What are your numbers like these days on on You Tube Well I'm still a little guy I've got about 5000 subscribers very loyal subscribers that share all sorts of great stuff that I get to follow up on and have given me all sorts of info around some of the stories I've brought out cool and then yeah I've got like 300000 or more views just in the last little bit so it's good because what are your so what do you think your total views are because I don't know why he Discovery Channel or History Channel or somebody hasn't picked up your work and had to reshoot it you know have you had huge become like a regular series provider for those those networks Well I have talked to a couple of them have reached out to me Good so you know how it is it's like. Pop talk talk and you can say anything and we want writings everything and so right now I haven't gone forth with anything and I've just been working along on my own because really that's you know where I have the most controls to do how I want to do it and it's charming the way you think it really is because I was with that sort a campfire thing you've got going where I know you've you know you're packed out into the desert you've got to you know you're talking to the camera there's a little bit of a sort of a Naked and Afraid vibe although you're totally closed but I just mean that. In the sense that it's like you and the elements and the story you're going to tell and so Mojave mysteries the book or the You Tube video series you have to see it but I really I was sort of captivated too but it's something that I've always found interesting is the idea that there could be terror attack tools in the Mojave and the reason why I say that is because it I remember years ago somebody saying that whether it's Thunderbirds or whether regardless that one of the problems with looking at birds. In wide open spaces like a desert Scape is that when you look up you have no other frame of reference for for the for the size of the creature scale for scale and so they said you know you we could have spent our whole life looking at things and not realizing because it was up so high just how big it was and I thought that was a that's always sort of caught me off guard a little bit when I look up and I see something that looks really big so tell me about your your your your pursuit of surviving flying dinosaurs. Ok well as you know part of my thing is I love to look at a story or a tale from a historical angle in addition to whatever the modern reports I get because I find often so much of the phenomenon has a back story or a tale that goes back hundreds a year sometimes and it's interesting to see how the phenomenon either changes or stays the same which makes you tend to think you're actually dealing with something a lot more concrete than just folklore now the flying dinosaur thing now 1st I got to say this in the episode I pronounced it Petra dactyl I saw you do that and I got skinned alive and I know you know stupid and I was going to bring it up when I got it was. Tested that in fact that was like monetary dactyl I think right correct. And then I had met a guy that was working out because none of the modern pronounce Asians. Anyway I know the difference and so to the point you know you mentioned the Thunderbird which is the story of a huge flying bird that goes back to Native American history now that is considered an actual birthday they never say it's a flying reptile they say it's a feathered right or an animal but at the same time. There's been stories of what they would call flying dragons or. A flying snake like animal and. If so I went back and I looked at archives in 18 hundreds and I found all sorts of stories that were. People actually doing expeditions after these things and it's warm they had shot them and brought them down I don't if you saw the one thing about some lady claimed that one killed her a cow in the field because it tried to swoop down and grab it and broke its back and it was too heavy to carry off and that people from the British Museum came out and actually claimed that they had found a living one in a cave that they disturbed and flew off and right up till today where I've had people tell me that they've seen something like that up near Death Valley . And describe it as you would describe flying dinosaurs and what's interesting is some of them claim that it's a lot smaller than what you would mentally envision you know terror attack to being some $35.00 foot wingspan right like that they say it's a lot smaller like 6 to 8 feet and tends to hang their rivers now they're back bills. It's presumed that they were ones that flew over the ocean and pick birds. Fish out of the water just like fishing Eagles do today right and that they might be exhibiting some of that same behavior . The problem is when you're dealing with something 6 to 8 feet it can get confused with a lot of other things so you have to really look at the stories like like One couple said that they had found tracks where it had landed and actually left tracks looked like an alligator struck very rough right with 3 toes claws and like that now that . In addition to what they saw on the ground would seem to be something that's a little more unusual than if they just mistook an eagle an owl or something like that now something interesting when I shot that episode I did the final. Some So mention and I went out for a hike that evening just because I was out anyhow and I'm walking along and I see this huge shape come sailing along on the air overhead and it turns its head and it had this great long triangular head just like a classic comic book right and I literally went no f. In the way you know right I just did this and now I'm saying and of course classic I have no camera on me say it's been a shooting and you were just you just talking for fun and I'm like Ok but what happened is it got overhead and just at the last minute it turned and I saw it was a Chinese Norma's pelicans now a pelican has the same profile right yeah and I watched it sail overhead and continue on into the basin and say Les and I went Ok well let's also one mystery with the 2nd mystery is was a pelican to announce in the middle of the Mojave a giant Yeah right in the thermals Now when I say giant I mean you know it had a $67.00 foot wingspan and that's that's a big bird I mean I think that's really in its head it's you know they have such a head. And so I went home and I was researching and I find that sometimes pelicans and sea birds would get caught in thermals on the coast and actually get swept over the desert in part so that's what must happen to this guy he was just let alone Voyager Nievera long as I was flocking under him and and so it was it really brought home the idea like wow you know if I if I hadn't seen him turn at that last minute where I saw it was a pelican I would have gone home and told someone like hey I sadly you know right and if you had to and if you infer that a camera and you caught a silhouette or slightly blurry image everyone I think we'd all see the same thing that you were seeing 2 exactly exactly Now when that story posted I got some e-mails from a couple guys that said that they had see that and that one guy said his grandpa had caught one up in Death Valley and they had kept it. Tied to a post and fed it and it was the size of a large vulture Now of course I'm like Ok that's a great story but if you've got it sitting there then where the pictures show me some video show me some pictures and it turned into one of those things well they come in there come on. And I never saw so. That'll happen it's always it's a pleasant surprise. When something is somebody send you a photo and it's very least they they follow through and it is something even if it isn't what they thought it was originally because I see even if it's a blob you know a blob squashes like. You know we went through that with the guy who you were helpful remember the person that found those little icons along the side of the road so you the photos and they turn out to be something that's explainable but it was really cool for a while if you're wondering like what did we trip over you know yeah oh yeah that was that was quite an epic little. Could turn into something so so as you said we're going we're talking with m.l. Berman his You Tube series is Mojave mysteries and he follows not just you know stories of crypted but all sorts of strange things that happen out in the Mojave just for people who are. You can't quite picture it or don't want to are just too tired to get up and look it up explain the context of the Mojave what kind of an area are we talking about what we're talking about a giant arid desert that covers most of Southern California a bit of Arizona a bit of Utah and a bit of Nevada and it encompasses everything from what you would imagine you know death alleys there you know. Burning hot expanse to mountains that are pine forest and stuff like that so it has a wide range of territory but the biggest thing is the desolation the remote. The fact that the military sticks things out there that they don't want people to see because people don't go out there I always say you know there's a reason people go into the desert mainly it's either to get away from something they've done or to hide something they're going to do right and then there's guys like me that just love exploring. You know it's the closest thing to the surface of the moon or Mars that you can get physically about right check out and it's the extremes of the of the Mojave to where we are talking about Death Valley temperatures in the in the one twenty's right in the daytime they can be that's the air the ground can be a 150. But it night it can then plummet completely in the other direction Yeah exactly you can people don't believe that you can freeze to death and that's it but it's in the desert and you can and so it's those extreme temperature swings that add to add to the lure of the place it's sort of like if you're saying you're on one side of the moon now you're on the dark side of the moon all and you never left . The space here and so this is why I originally I mean I sort of got fascinated with the idea of all of the crimes that people cover up by going to the Mojave or taking their victims to the Mojave and and and the the old mining wells that nobody has excavated. We have no idea what's the well it was a mining wells but that becomes like a handy. Kind of disposal for a lot of illegal activity plus people making meth in the desert and other things that were happening for a long time right right when you say the dead people even think of Roswell U.F.O.'s or they think of Breaking Bad type thing or they think of you know Devil cults and right racing with the devil in those old movies. So so the but yet they're also sort of even in the crypted category as you said there are these stories of of these giant attacking killer Eagles these you know write these journals Yeah right Raptors Yeah. We have all sorts of giant birds huge coming out of eagles golden eagles You know we have Khan doors. All sorts of large birds and again you know I did an episode on this giant bird attacks was in the early days. People would report that their you know an eagle tried to snatch their kid or so took their dog or attacked them when they were out riding their horse and. Conventional animals in that they're an eagle but of an exceptional size and what's interesting is one article they had. A guy went out to repair the telegraph wire right this is $990.00 and he was up on the pole and a giant eagle attacked him. It was described as an eagle It was a dark for brown feathers with a sharp beak and it was attacking him and. He managed to mak it out with a hammer he had on him he jumped down took some telegraph wire wrapped it up and took it into town with a display that. For all the townspeople there isn't a photo of that but they have an illustration of it and you know all these claim they saw it and then 30 years later an eagle tried to take a child and her dad shot it and that is a photograph that exists and it's a massive bird that they're holding up. And there was a lot of there's a strong mining history around that but here's the part that I thought was a cool tie in is that when we think about u.f.o. Crashes in the desert we think almost exclusively of Roswell which is not Mojave. And. Yet or you get around Area 512 but right there been like 5 of them if I remember the the You Tube story from earlier today than 5 u.f.o. Crashes reported in the Mojave Yeah between 19491967 and one of them happened near Kingman Yeah in 1052 and it's got a real folklore around it because a lot of people claim that the actual recovered ship that they have at Area $51.00 came from Kingman not from Roswell and it was because they it was intact and there was even the whole story that they had an alien they had captured with it or in e.b.e. As they called it in the reports and that he helped them reverse engineer stuff now a lot of the tales surrounding the alien were debunked and I mean they were just so ridiculous and fantastic that he just had to laugh at most of them but what was fascinating about this report was all the little stories that came out afterwards. Like. One guy's a desert rat supposedly come down and got there 1st and collected a whole bunch of. Debris that he had found along with the crash which was a. Acorn shaped vehicle they claimed and he had an old crate with him in his Jeep so he filled it with stuff and he had some Native American friends who. Actually the Native American friends were sheepherders and they got out of sight 1st and called him he got out there and they all. Filled this box and he gave it to the Native Americans to go bury in the desert hide because he figured that someone would be coming asking and over the years rumors have trickled out that this box is still out there or that they did retrieve it that the Native Americans retrieve it and they're hanging on to it for whatever reason but the whole story went from a simple. Thing that there was an atomic test and the ship got caught in the blast and it came down near Kingman 'd and then we have this whole. Tapestry of tales of captured aliens recovered stuff and that that's what actually went to 50 Area 51. Thing is in the Mojave like I say there's 5 or 6 of these stories and it's all in that little time frame so I don't know what if that was like the training period for alien pilots and they just seem like piling up in the Mojave during those 2 decades but a lot of them share the same type thing one I was just working on half an hour Edwards Air Force Base a year later in 1053 and. Then down south of here. Down near the border of California and Mexico there are supposedly another one but the one that had the most documentation that I could find was the Kingman crash of 52. In there and also from some of my students they said well if you have a copy of it you will not ever see the photograph again and in a few years in a couple of other magazines as well well I got the copy of Fate magazine put it on my shelf read it on my shelf and I guess about 6 months or a year later I'm looking for it and somehow very very mystically it disappeared it was well it did the magazine did know not the magazine Well actually it was the magazine not the photograph on the back of you know like I said sure but yeah the magazine with the photograph of this thing and I remember it except I saw the photograph today it was an old barn and it was terrorist activity figure probably about 25 feet and wingspan something all right let's find out what it what does that sound familiar Yes And let me ask you the picture you saw was it Cowboys holding up the body was it Union soldiers Civil War soldiers or was it hunters that looked like they attacked it to the wall of the bar do you remember the photo Well there was one man standing in front it was not soldiers it was not a group of people it was nailed to the end of a bar sort of like a trophy type of figure right right. I managed to figure out talking about yeah the that photo is a famous trope out here. Originally it was called the tombstone terror dactyl and. It was supposedly discovered nailed to the wall of a. Saloon in Tombstone in the 18 eighties and it showed. Cowboys holding this thing that they had shot just outside of town and. Didn't know what it was but it was a large leathery reptilian type figure and in the picture it looks just like a terrier that till then other versions popped up. The one you're talking about like where it's nailed to the barn I've seen that one and I've seen the Civil War soldiers won and the thing is most of them are considered well all of them are actually considered fakes there they were considered a joke think as an 800 they used to put all sorts of wild stuff on the wall of saloons that they make like the jackalope they takes a scale and write and add stuff to it and all sorts of what I guess would be considered obscene adult stuff they do but now. That is a famous. Story about you know the terror that thought was shot but either hunters cowboys or soldiers and I've seen like it say it probably 5 versions version of that photo the one that the oldest one I did find was the cowboy one and that's pretty much been proven to be superimposed in over something else that they were holding up. Berman's page the You Tube page mystery airships U.F.O.'s in the old west so this is a perfect transition into Cowboys and Aliens Right right well going back to main American times where they be talking about lights and weird things in the sky and it continued on to the 1800s where people would be describing what would look like a step one with search lights on it or other things that were just glowing lights that moved real fast some were hurt with engine noise some more not and there was even stories just like today of crashes and what's interesting is in the 1800s crash stories I found one where they were supposedly from Mars but they looked just like us and wore the same clothing. But most of them were that the story was these were crazy inventors or top secret scientists who were working on their designs they were going to sell them the military and were testing them at night out in the desert so no one would steal their design and that's what these things were. But what's interesting and I talked about this the evolution of the phenomenon at the time we were working on the world was working on Zeppelins and lighter than air aircraft and electric lights and stuff like that but these things all exhibited technology that was probably 50 to 100 some cases 200 years and I have yet really was at the time now fast forward today we're like the Navy seeing these things off a San Diego that are right showing attributes that are way beyond us stuff Now what's interesting about the phenomenon is it seems to. Manifests itself in ways that are just beyond our current technological grasp but not so much that we can't understand what we're seeing that's a really good point and Arthur c. Clarke the inventor you know wrote 2001 he invented the communications satellites He said that alien technology will be so advanced that a little peer is magic not technology now what we're seeing like I say demonstratively through the last 200 years is something that is just in advance of what we're currently at so it's almost like something's dangling something in front of us you know showing us what's possible or what we might be shooting for or somehow manifesting what we're at the moment dreaming about but is within our grasp technologically to create within a generation 2 generations 5 generations and the whole mystery airship thing follows that same pattern you know here's things that used electric lights before they were really rigging electric lights on stuff were showing lighter than air propulsion systems or. Being able to levitate against gravity. And like I say they were some were described this as what would be like a metal Zeppelin which you know how many times do we hear like a cigar shaped us are today right and right and then right down to just lights that was drowned and I'm doing a story right now about a phenomenon that was associated with a thread of today where people would see these lights would be following railroad tracks or roads or highways and that would crack people's windshields and. Damage. Equipment stuff almost like a ball lightning has been reported.
