The media advisory came in yesterday former New York City mayor current 2020 presidential candidate Michael Bloomberg would be speaking at 4 pm a great time at the u.s. Climate Action Center here inside the u.n. Climate summit also speaking would be actor Harrison Ford and Bank of England governor Mark Carney and others in the hash tag we are still in delegation the lawmakers mayors business leaders who are here to say that although the u.s. Is pulling out of the Paris Accords they're still committed throughout the climate conference the delegation has been speaking and taking questions from the press so we packed up our gear and headed to Bloomberg News availability to the news conference this would be our chance to get a question in to the 2020 presidential hopeful when we arrived the pavilion was. Press we got in many didn't Harrison Ford address the packed room of reporters we know the fact. We need now. The courage. The 2017 minute countries Frederick government demonstrated. Courage. That various agreements. If we look. They're going to continue to do that. Michael Bloomberg was among the last in the pavilion to speak. The reason that I am here in Madrid is really very simple I am here because no one from the White House is here we're looking forward to this November's election and the new president 2020 we have to have America as part of the solution to our surprise as soon as Mayor Bloomberg wrapped up his comments he was surrounded by security and walked out of the room without taking any questions we followed him Mr Bloomberg are you taking questions from the press. Mayor Bloomberg or you'll be taking questions from the press right now thank you so they told us this was a news conference with Mayor Bloomberg. Mr Mayor that you want it said that. Mr Mayor that but the 1st order for and if you could just answer a question that we we all packed in there to ask a question Is it true you know I took a I'm from New York I followed your show and but the the u.n. Has said that economic and climate inequality is driving protests around the world you sure you're a billionaire running for president you've spent more tens of millions more dollars than the other presidential candidates will that be your strategy to when you're the president's going to talk about climate this week when I said the u.n. Said the climate in your holiday understand the question that he can answer for himself but I'm telling you that we're only here to tell America and I know what you're not traveling as a candidate so he's part of the reason why we're here and it's really important for the context that event we're here to talk about climate he's here can only refer to President Trump and I think this is a very relevant question of assuring a straight answer you very much Mr Mayor can you answer for yourself. What it was but it's actually it's actually important for the event today actually asked us to be on stuff like that not to take political questions but I think it's very important these protests around the world. Around climate in economic inequality. Mr Bloomberg is running well you I mean me good I'm a democracy now I know you guys know we're well. Hi Nice to see nice to see. You Mr Mayor can you respond to the question. That we were told this was a news conference that's why so many reporters packed then. We called Thank You. Thank you Mr. Mr Mayor how do you think that. These global protests around inequality should be addressed. Mr Mayor how do you think these global protests against inequality should be addressed. If you answer it I'll stop asking Mr Mayor how do you think these global protests against inequality should be addressed. You know just try me get out of your time you're not the ruler yourself so we went to this event that Mayor Bloomberg was speaking at that was billed as a press conference and many press packed into the room we listen to Mayor Bloomberg talk about the climate crisis and we all questions and my question to him was in light of the global protests that are taking place the u.n. Says these protests are being driven by inequality both economic and climate inequality. As a billionaire who is running for president how does he address that issue. When he would run for mayor 3 times he spent more than $250000000.00 of his own money at the time that was more than any official in u.s. History any politician in u.s. History and now he's entered the presidential race. He has spent 90000000 dollars on ads 20000000 dollars said any other presidential candidate is this his strategy I wanted to ask him for winning the presidency I tried to ask the question the police slammed me against the wall the mayor was right there within a few feet of me he could have answered at any point. One of the spokespeople said he's not here to talk about running for president and yet he talked about President Trump and the fact that the u.s. Is being pulled out of the u.n. Climate summit I think it's a very fair question in light of what's happening here in Madrid and what's happening around the world we tried our best he was silent for a long time I was walking pretty much at his side. So we'll try again another time but Mayor Bloomberg should be willing to answer questions not call a news conference and then not answer questions when the press packs and. So that was 2020 presidential candidate Michael Bloomberg refusing to answer questions after speaking to a packed room of reporters here at the u.n. Climate summit the man who is running interference for him Kevin Sheekey is in fact 2020 presidential campaign manager he told us Bloomberg is here at the cop not as a candidate and that they've made a deal not to address these kinds of issues later that night we watched Bloomberg on an extensive interview on c.n.n. From the un climate conference with Christiane Amanpour where he did in fact talk about the 2020 presidential race and President Trump. So that does it for this segment of the program when we come back wildfires are devastating Australia the world governments failure to meet the client Paris climate agreement will be next on our agenda Stay with us. Money by Lana Del Rey This is Democracy Now Democracy Now dot org The War and Peace Report I'm Amy Goodman We're broadcasting from inside the u.n. Climate summit here in Madrid Spain as world leaders have gathered here to address the climate crisis massive wildfires have been go through Australia in flames and smoke more than 100 climate fueled blazes have killed at least 6 people and pushed air quality levels in Sydney to 12 times hazardous levels this year is the worst wildfire season in Australia's history and ones. Day Thousands brave toxic black smoke and extreme air pollution to protest the government's climate in action outside Sydney's town hall. For more we are joined here in Madrid Spain by the Australian environmental scientists Bill Hare director of climate analytics and a coordinator of the Climate Action tracker which monitors global progress towards the Paris agreement they've just released a report showing the world is on track to warm by $2.00 degrees Celsius about 5 degrees Fahrenheit by the end of the century hare Welcome back to Democracy Now it's great to have you with us thanks for having me great so let's start in your country and Australia. I mean you have Sydney people smoke alarms are going off all over because of the smoke that is pouring in Explain what's happening all over the country where you have an intense drought going on the southeast and the stereo hard Heat Waves Extreme like running for and that's causing vegetation forests to dry out and we're getting the most extreme fires that we've ever seen early in the season it's not even probably thought from me that much of the coast of history is up in flames the tragedy about this is that this is a problem that's been foreseen by climate scientists now for a long time and overall the government is as upset we filed to respond it's actually an emergency going on and the federal government has really failed to acknowledge that there's actually a crisis. Is there also need for more resources than the government saying no you've got enough. Does that he enjoyed being out there sort of people are really entitle to be extremely angry in a strike about the lack of action by the government and the lack of real concern demonstrated by eat towards the extreme dangers that we're facing not just far as we actually have extreme water shortages emerge in those cities moving from the high stage water. Restrictions places on the south coast of New South Wales so never really being dry simply beginning to run out of your sight and inland towns are having to ship in water will find emergency sources of water we've never seen anything like it and again it's a tragedy because this is a crisis that's been foretold by the scientific community in some cases the decades can you talk about the areas that are hardest hit. 11 of the things that's most upsetting actually is the areas that are really hard hit should never actually be burning in some cases they haven't been in the case of forest for several 100000 years and in a few cases and these areas are normally when they moist they were amongst the greenness parts of Australia and they simply drying out with this extensive drought that beautiful parts of the country where people's lifestyles of the classic Australian thing live out in the Bush enjoying that nature in small towns and they simply going up in smoke so can you talk about the connection between these fires and global warming well as the world is warming we're seeing higher temperatures we're seeing more extensive droughts we're seeing declines of rainfall and this is causing vegetation to dry out and create conditions where early season versions are happening a strain is not the only place we seeing the record destructive far as in California and other parts of the world in the last year so it's not as though it's an isolated phenomenon we know it's caused by climate change we know that the linkage and we know what we know. To do about it which is to reduce emissions globally so that we get onto a pathway that limit woman to one and a half to graze the limit that's invented in the Paris Agreement Scott Morrison in your prime minister. There in my shed sounds like from the u.s. And in line with President Trump would you call him a climate change denier What have been his policies and what are the Australian people saying to him now what's got Barzan is beginning to acknowledge that climate change exists but in many senses he remains a climate than I because a modern climate denier also denies the need to do anything about problems and in this case Scott Morrison is denying the need to actually go further and worse he keeps claiming that hysteria is actually reducing its emissions when it's not he keeps claiming that the state is going to meet the parents agreement goals he said when it's not and it's basically resorting to accounting tricks and tactics to actually make the case the state doesn't have to do anything in fact to stairs relying on a 30 year old accounting trick in this place at this call in Madrid to say we don't have to do anymore they will Herr You have just released a report can you talk about what you found well the report we've released is one we do annually for the Climate Action tracker which was a project with the new Climate Institute and we show the total effect of what countries are promising and actually doing in the real economy and what we share with this report is that with current policies put it all together around the world we're heading towards 3 degrees warming maybe more in other words we're not seeing any real progress on reducing emissions there are some bright spots that's true the growth of renewables etc is happening we see some countries mainly poor ones moving forward but the larger images are actually filing to really take action that's what our reporters are showing that after many years of negotiations we're now in a rather depressing situation where at this quote here in Madrid we simply don't. See enough ambition so can you talk about coal what you talk about the addiction to coal Who are the worst perpetrators Well nearly everyone's been in the coal guy in the United States Great Britain Australia China so the the thing that's worrying us now is who is the slowest moving out of coal we see already some progress in China in the last few years but that's flattened off so we have reservations about the growth of coal and trying it should be going down stabilising if it doesn't go down we're in big trouble we're seeing countries like Australia continue to promote actively vigorously the growth of the global coal market. There are plenty of countries that have basically not moving forward the u.k. As a bright spot phasing out call in 2023 there are others that are moving forward as well. We also see you know a global leader if you like on renewable energy like India potentially moving into a pair of sovereign compatible gold but a concern out there is India's extensive plans for coal investment if India goes forward with that they sent me no way that India could be parasitic compatible or that the world can limit woman to one and a half degrees below where. President Trump says he's pulling the us out of this parasite climate agreement we just played out. Former Mayor Bloomberg refusing to take questions I at his press availability yesterday but he said I'm here because the White House isn't in fact the White House is here in the high in the scenes what is the u.s. Doing and what is the effect of the u.s. Pulling out well I think that for the 1st time in this crop I think the I can see rather extensive negative consequences from the us withdrawal I think it's beginning to sink in so are a lot of countries that would rather not do anything that will countries of the going slower fund in the us pull out as an excuse to amplify that message and to say well if the Us is out we shouldn't move forward so that. It's having quite a negative effect now the delegation here is not having a big impact itself it's much more about the Lancia politics of the us withdrawing from the Paris agreement that's having this negative political effect on the process that I don't think that has to be because if you look at the big countries China India the European Union and others who could move forward then they would have the potential to rise up. And move beyond the politics of the u.s. Patrols and in fact if you think about it there's a big economic advantage in doing so because we all know those of his who study the area that actually getting on to the parents agreements half way with renewables efficiency electric vehicles is one of the biggest economic opportunities the world has ever seen and those that get in and make the markets will be those that benefit so actually that the downside is a long run on the u.s. Side if u.s. Is out of the game technologically it will ultimately lose the hairier scientists then you run climate analytics but. The level of protest here young people indigenous Alger Hiss people from all over the world to talk about what this means for scientists right now is this unusual nexus of people that perhaps you didn't value as much before well I don't think it's true that scientists didn't value this before I think that's a scientists it's an affirmation of what we've all been signs. But it's also extremely upsetting to work in this field for decades find you know predictions coming through and find politicians filing will have filed to take action on it and I think people coming here angry are seeing more tears at this call than I've ever seen in the previous 24 because this is the crying call we're having people coming from small arms states whose arms are going and absolutely devastated. Almost panicking about the state of this great state site and we're seeing many of those the uses said truck coming extremely upset that what they've learned about climate change what they've. Learnt the politicians already knew and done nothing about and nothing has happened so the entire will be angry and upset and I think we can all hope that this translates into political pressure on government directly do something and any developed countries met their goals and what about the developing world. A number of countries are coming close to meeting the goals the European Union is close on the question of the goals adequately answer is in nearly all cases it's the goals of. The developing countries some are also getting close to their goals like India is on a 2 degree pathway it's getting close to doing that maybe even going better so yes there are positive examples. That are working but the bigger picture is in general not just not moving fast enough. Glasgow What do you want to see happening this next year before the Glasgow you want your job is the 5 year review at the Paris climate agreement yes it's a it's a major global moment 2020 we agreed in Paris that aero countries will put forward more ambitious national targets in order to get close to the parents goals so we really have to might when it comes to climate ambition the sunshine in Glasgow at the end of 2020 has to be a major global movement next year to encourage compel if you like countries to come up with really big improvements in their ambition because if we don't see that. Happen in those cars then I think people are entitled to be extremely pessimistic about and guillotines and so this incompetent about going back to Australia. I'm very concerned that I find situations very very upsetting and many do I think people are really angry I'm concerned. About what's happening to the environment it's it's simply devastating You talked about 4 or 5 but our coral reefs are going under the Great Barrier Reef on the West Coast the lesser known Ningaloo Reef and north of. Going under from coral bleaching we're seeing enormous problems happening with biodiversity we have 400 kilometers of dead mangroves in the Gulf of Carpentaria the scientists mock human deciding we're beginning to see ecosystem collapse but what we're not seeing is political leadership from authors of the major parties Scott Morrison a party isn't done our long climate change the Labor Party is trying to have a bit on the why which side of history do they want to be on the right side or the wrong side and they're having a bet on the way so one day they talk about doing something about climate change the next day they talk about coal exports and think the future for our economy which is that we cannot be if we're going to solve this problem now here want to thank you so much for being with us is the director he is the director of climate and a lead x. And visiting scientist at Potsdam and sued for Climate Impact Research one of the 4 nadirs of the Climate Action tracker which monitors global progress toward the parish agreement from Australia when we come back back in the United States has introduced articles of impeachment against President Trump will speak with California congress member of Congress stay with us a theme. That will be. I'm a kid I hear on Democracy Now Democracy Now dot org The War and Peace Report I mean the good man we're broadcasting from inside the u.n. Climate summit here in Madrid Spain but we're turning now to the major story making headlines back in the United States impeachment on Tuesday House Democrats formally announced 2 articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump charging him with abuse of power and obstruction of Congress the move brings the sitting president to the brink of impeachment for the 4th time in American history the impeachment inquiry centers on how President Trump withheld military aid from Ukraine to pressure the Ukrainian president to investigate Trump's political rival Joe Biden and his son Hunter Democratic lawmakers say Trump then tried to cover up his actions this is House Judiciary Committee Chair Jerry NAVL or. The president who declares himself above accountability above the American people and above Congress's power of impeachment which is meant to protect against threats to our democratic institutions is a president who sees him so as above the law. We must be clear no one not even the president today for he's above the law. For more we go to Washington d.c. To speak with Roe Conn a Democratic Congress member from California. Thanks for joining us here at the u.n. Climate summit you're a member of the House Committee on Oversight and Reform Welcome back to Democracy Now while we're here at the u.n. Climate Summit your in Washington where history is being made to talk about the articles of impeachment that have just been released and their significance. But I mean 1st of all let me thank you for covering the climate summit it was a historic day in Washington yesterday 2 articles of impeachment were released for the President Clinton clearly abused his office by pressuring Selenski to manufacture dirt on his political opponent Joe Biden and so. The president has obstructed justice instructing people not to testify in front of Congress stonewalling and not giving Congress evidence and these were the 2 articles that the chairman Nat'l are released yesterday. And talk about the significance the historic significance of this moment. Well this is the 4th time in American history that Articles of Impeachment have been drawn up and it's very sad to see this president ride roughshod over the Constitution and the rule of law what I have said to my Republican friends is we see around the world at times that dictators are authoritarian tendencies can emerge from the left or the right what protects America is the rule of law in the constitution and there should be a universal condemnation for any president that violates the rule of law. So what can you expect to happen at this point. I expect the House to take a vote to impeach the president I believe that that will be an overwhelming vote on the Democratic side and then it goes to the Senate and we're going to have a 3 trial in the Senate that he is for me that we get a few Republican senators hopefully to look at the evidence and find the President guilty and so we can say that the majority of the American people believe he should be impeached the majority of the house only to impeach him and the majority of the Senate voted to impeach him to convict him even though that may not rise to 67 vote . Congressman can I have to tell you right behind me hundreds of activists have gathered in front of the plan every have proof rock the former Ireland President Mary Robinson very active on the issue of climate change will be holding a fireside chat group. Tag sometimes their bank will be talking about that in a moment but right now Fico are flying their crockery they are chanting they're about to I'm a banner in front of the main plenary I am sitting right next to this and the primary is pulled back there and looks like Baker on their big sign that say time for action is now back there is one of the major rivers in chill h.l.a.s. The head of this un climate summit. We're going to go to that in a minute but before we do I wanted to ask you about your opposition to the current Pentagon budget. Oh it's appalling to me the budget is $738000000000.01 of the largest in American history I mean especially considering we're trying to wind down these wars the budget bill also has stripped any amendments to stop the war and yeah I mean it has gripped any amendments to stop the war in Iran right when you see in Saudi nationals actually attack Americans on base bases in Florida the bill does nothing to hold the Saudis accountable or restrict our arms sales there so it was an act as Senator Sanders and I put it a. Moral cowardice to basically allow the White House to draft the defense authorization. Well then Roe Conn I want to thank you so much for being with us Democratic Congress member from California member of the House Committee on Oversight and Reform as the House says just released the articles of impeachment against President Trump This is Democracy Now I knew you could then we're broadcasting here inside the u.n. Climate summit in Madrid Spain hundreds of protesters are right behind me just next to. Or sad. To hear what they are saying hey our Saturday Hey guys than yours. We're joined here on the set by 2 of the people who are participating in the protests among those with us are their executive director of the Indigenous Environmental Network town voters and friends of the earth International's Kareen Nansen here to tell us what's going on terms can you describe for us what you're seeing right behind us because I think the people are about to give speeches Yeah this is a really. Interesting moment were many of the civil society who are credentials to come into these halls of the United Nations are very concerned over Ghana about the corporate takeover of these hotels that this is nothing to do with addressing global warming climate change has everything to do with creating mechanism so that people here N.G.O.s indigenous peoples all come together to gender woman caucus really and demanding that there be real solutions not fault solution and that the industrialized countries of the North really need to pay up on the climate equity issue over loss and damage to issues in the flow south so one of the issues that we are saying as indigenous peoples within did do this. To do this people that came on the outside of this venue of the film with a social is that this planet is nothing but a grab for seal to colonialism So what we saw on this screen still day in the mass mobilization the March didn't he didn't people she came here from Chile came here from Ecuador from Colombia point 20 and I was from the north standing with them today now it's. Link climate capitalism with real liberal movement with him Pyramus him and you know with the same policies coming out of the United States the announcement out there in climate food that was acquired prized Mother Earth because 7 I want to go back to Congressman Connor for just one minute if you can comment on the nature of the climate crisis and what the u.s. Is feeling about it. Well I mean I saw your exchange with Mira Bloomberg and I was shocked I mean here you were giving him an opportunity to address the largest crisis in the world and your question was so fair you were asking him what would you do to deal with the systematic inequality around the world and the climate crisis I believe that we need to deal with the inequity in education in his 20 and health care the inequity in housing you know 20 in child care and early development and that's what the u.n. Development report calls for and that's what many progressive in Congress are calling for we have some of the greatest wealth inequality we have seen since the Great Depression we need a program of public investment in people's lives and shelter and we also need as secretary and I outlined in the nearest times a real plan for a 2nd best in renewable energy and have a play for America to lead so I appreciate your raising that issue with all of the presidential candidates. Hearing and seeing if you can describe also what's happening and why you're here your teacher says she's just eating out there not to cause we have a spending time is that these early home town Queens and these are not counting to say one day we still have these 2 hours and I had an eastern asked for they are forest on the reverse on their lab for survival and this is something we are really rejecting because it means more and more corporate power those who are being polluting for those who are responsible for the crisis want to make use of the source of the crisis and one to come on the side make sure I want to take control over our systems our livelihoods and our systems and we cannot allow for that as the more saying the north is not neither willing to paying for their historical responsibility their mother willing to pay for the loss of damage those already think you have made over the world and affecting communities in music and livestock peoples and this is not that you care for in these conferences so that's why we are joining forces from outside I mean side the call to make sure that the where voices are heard that we bring the message forward so also the whole population and the whole world of the stand that we have you said what Prop. In fact there were countries are you pushing to the core mouth to do as accept the star or markets because they're not even know for any finance for the loss of that much so we are calling also now are countries not trucks or foreign markets within this fundamental cracks to arm the spam and listen to the. Eunice on the ground that are suffering the impacts of climate change we cannot allow them to keep you know given license to point you at the destroy the marble jar and the price is the amount they need to act now is really think in the lives of so many people around the world of this place in people from their very thirty's on their communities and destroying their livelihoods town I want to go back to you and then we're going to hear the speakers the people behind us are shouting Shame shame the people united will never be defeated and Spanish in English they're also saying what do we want climate justice when do we want it now and what climate justice means right now this is their historical moment because in the environmental and climate justice and social justice movement right here today we are standing here with International 9 Climate Action Network can International and those are some of the largest N.G.O.s that were on the same page on lifting up fault solution but they're here today because there is a movement lifting the injustice environmental racism in equity frame that's existing in these halls it's ironic that is indigenous peoples here our caucus has been lobbying and fighting for language rights of indigenous peoples . Human rights N.G.O.s been trying to strengthen human rights language it's ironic withstand the u.n. Because now in the un after posting here they're recognizing our traditional knowledge but that they're not recognizing the rights of indigenous peoples so it's raises some serious question why is it that they're after recognizing after they're after our traditional knowledge we're saying also Archer's and knowledge is not for sale so it's. Linking up this issue right now this movement also is lifting our. Fortunes of the territorial integrity of Mother Earth that Mother Earth is a living entity that we have to be really serious here as civil society negotiators on flipping the script on how it looks towards its relationship to the sacredness some other that's what we are also been demanding here is a new level of negotiation that recognizes the values of how we are living our capitalism our economy that's what this is about and you know we're going to go right now to my colleague and your main street who is in the middle of the crowd and she is talking to the name of bassy of Nigeria. The name of i.c. West standing here at the main plenary hall where there's a massive protest happening can you explain what the protests are saying. Basically the call has been moving in a big grocery but don't actually get here we're from any sense of responsibility about what is going on and to put this us here are saying that he tried to get through on wish to cope because this one is moving which is taught is my Kate McCann Eason's right a reply might have shown is the wrong direction and that this cannot be accepted so we're seeing a situation where they respond to cultures I know ready don't bring to find the phone. Number that up to show me to get. Lost on damage or this is us saying look you have to respect indigenous 30 years but the right of people from. Less polluting nations I'm doubt what we need now is Real Climate Action I'm not just I'm not going to show this cop has become nothing nothing all that other talk show Meszaros I hear you're looking for other news. But I was Dr Boyd actually this cannot be the way to organize negotiations coming here to find ways of not doing anything apart from the thought that it could be made use of is problematic what we're seeing in because. Based Nowhere does this say these of the relegation albeit made Jesse that award is now on what we just won we want to know what they want to do is simply not ho to know is that what is good on is an image Jesse is a situation where climate crisis is saying God we didn't top line that entire war is not just for polka interests you know only for voter because his office more or less This alone is a good up problem I do wish it goes on many stars but if the sun does seem to realize this that think they can take the high Lon escape from the problems I do not allow those that we can dispense with to be stuck to a body type business not this is what is being brought this that against that they have to take real climate action and who's holding up the negotiations. Well as usual. Those hold up with the shows because they didn't respond for countries who knows what most responsible for. The good all will meet so most of us will the 40 a muggle company doubt most and it inclusive of the United States that has already said I live in because if the Us is leaving because while I did hear. Most of them blow is a problem and the us has a quota of Meszaros right behind them we have the e.u. You have a sterling. These are countries who consistently of what the down the needle says shows right from day one thank you so much neither of us even now going to go back to Amy in this home video that you know better you know bassy from Nigeria speaking to shave. We thank you so much and I mean for that interview we are speaking here to Tom gold tooth executive director of the Indigenous Environmental Network and member of the demand Dakota nations who lives in Minnesota we also have with us Karen and where are you from Corinne why you're from or and why you're from Latin America where so many environmental defenders have been killed most recently in Brazil Exactly and this is very dramatic to the fight we have here because of home parties much of our corporations give to our territories to develop their business activities people where we see this thing I'm fighting of people who are also defending their means of survival they have livelihoods already failing every verse chorus of our being filled and this is that nobody. Else in our society said no to those very perverse because it means that those who are fighting for justice who are building this society we aim for those people suffering field and to violence is even more brutal against women and even more so it's very indigenous women are up for this and the women who's bought the bodies carry all the oppressions of the system so that's why we think it's so important to denounce what is think you know. What is happening in the territories all over nothing of any kind of also throughout the world and create hope to build internationally somebody you know them to spawn to have some of these demonstrations inside them outside is also money for space for much of the International something that we think we have a means to build and we have been building together for them out past years in order to make sure that nobody else is killed w.o.s. Is threatened because they're all posing business activities of a coming to destroy their territories their means of survival this business activity. Most me my neck t.v. These oil exploration all next point they show you some solid expansion of our going to use this in our lands and this is also what full solutions mean I want to turn to a neighbor not so far from you in Brazil again Nermeen Shaikh is in the middle of the crowd Nermeen Shaikh take it away and this last minute. The I don't you can't know you're here from Brazil explain why you're at this protest at this moment or is it isn't there a coup that we have been attacked to miss so many ways we have been to talk to our democracy we have been to talk to our forests and we as a originary people as a vision as people for the forest I'll try to the Fed what is left of nature indigenous or tourist to fan more than 80 percent of biodiversity of this will by their versity is connected to cultural diversity it isn't all knowledge you know way of life that life is still living in our territory is true indigenous perspective that we can find new solutions to reconnect to all the eco systems and stop doing this suicidal movement through the next couple the chicks through the next economy that is go all over the world. And thank you so much. To Cano we're going to go back now to Amy Goodman in the studio here at dawn. Thank you so much and I mean right now the protesters are walking by us by Tom incurring security opened up what looks like a large garage door they're holding the front person who's got his hand up and it's fast and now hundreds of people are passing us as they walk out of the cop as they want to get out of the car it's not clear why they're walking out of the cop This is. What they're doing to sure no you'll raise. Most believe that they're going to lose their badges Thomas across the user wasn't even a walk out of a cause that's just what risks are doing right now ask every member of the event there was pick up tomorrow on democracy now Boyce is a protester who was like that somehow right there was a great space was sunk into the missing dangerous leader of the Earth thank you so much for clean air and sun and chill at the time was the genesis of our marriage that was there and. Friends are very thing crash was great Time magazine was great the person was there was I mean the here in Madrid Spain at the un climate summit thanks so much for joining us.
