Hes still in serious condition in the hospital, but the Clark County Sheriff told us Deputy Martin is now up and around. After sheriff wagner talked about the deputies he gave us more details about what happened at the home yesterday. He stressed they knew it was a dangerous situation because of past runins with martin wirth, but said they never thought it would escalate to what it did yesterday. We did not force a violent confrontation yesterday. Mr. Wirth did. We simply responded to the situation that was presented to us. Sheriff wagner said back in 2014 they had the exact same call with wirth and no one was hurt then. So going into yesterdays call they had no suspicion to think it would end the way it did. Today the sheriff talked about a recent encounter wirth had with Jefferson County sheriffs deputies according to a report obtained by denver7. Wirth told an employee at an Insurance Agency something to the effect of i should just et my gun and shoot the first cop i see. Sheriffs office there to alert them of those remarks and later that same day when clark county deputies tried to talk to him about it, he got tackled in the driveway of his home after he wouldnt stop to discuss it with them. You spoke to people who consider wirth friend. They paint an entirely different picture of wirth than the one coming to light saying plant they knew was generous and helped the homeless the man they knew was generous and helped the homeless. He was charged with three counts of Sexual Exploitation of a child. The investigation as i mentioned began back in december when he told police child pornography images accidentally popped up on his computer. Further investigation revealed that young had images on his personal email and his district issued computer. During the investigation he was placed on leave by the school and was prevented from teaching in lafayette.
