Good morning to you, and happy friday. Hi. Good morning angie. The dow has rallied every friday so far this year. Will it happen again scott . I dont see any reason that it wont. Yesterday we saw the banks actually get into this rally here j. P. Morgan, Goldman Sachs, citigroup. And with options expiration being later today, what you are going to find is if the market does in fact rally, even just a little bit, there is going to be a lot of shortcovering going into the close of the market. People that are short options with strikes just above where maybe their stocks are trading, are going to have to cover. So i would look for volume really to pick up if the market continues this uptrend later today. What is the stock market telling us about the economy . Yesterday we had betterthan expected news coming from the labor market. Jobs are being added. Is that giving a boost to the market . But, boy, if it does, if we do see a turnaround and gdp does start to pick up, who knows what then . Arent you one of those traders who is seeing a rotation out of apple and into google . Yeah. You know what, it is very interesting, because for about the last two weeks or so now, we have seen apple really hold major support at 425 420, 425. Major support. And now maybe google is a little bit tired. So, where the people that had the flip side of that just two or three months ago, out of apple, into google, you are starting to see that rotation come to play now. Pleasure to have you on the show. Thank you scott. Take care angie. A former jp morgan executive will break her silence on capitol hill today. Cable bills are predicted to more than double by the year 2020. Thats according to market researcher npd group. But our cover story reports not everyone believes that may happen and that instead, the cable industry may be at a Pivotal Point in pricing. You dont have to tell consumers about the high cost of cable. It jumped about 60 in about a year. On average, consumers pay more than twice what they paid for cable ten years ago. They may complain to their provider, but analysts say thats not whos driving up costs. The networks charge more each year and the Cable Company passes it on. Finally, customers are starting to leave, and Cable Companies see the writing on the wall. The pebble that could start the avalanche may be a lawsuit from new yorks Cablevision Systems Corp against viacom and black entertainment television. The suit says viacom strongarmed cablevision into carrying 14 lesserwatched channels or pay a penalty of nearly a billion dollars. Some think the suits outcome could lead consumers to pay only for the channels they watch, but at higher prices. Pay more than what i pay now for just the channels i watch . I dont like what im paying now. If they want to break this up, charge more for espn. Prices will go higher. In a statement on its website, viacom says cablevision is crying foul over a standard business practice that expands choice and lowers cost for consumers. Cable has been losing customers in the last three years, a casualty of recessionera belttightening. But the prices havent rolled back, and some but not everyone predict they could go even higher to 200 a month. That wont happen. They simply cant keep doing it. So far, the recent drop in cable subscribers is a fraction of the total number of consumers who pay for tv programming about onetenth of onepercent. Not a disruption, according to one analyst. How traders take cues from ben bernanke the fed. Thats later on. But first, why some Small Businesses are finding hidden profits overseas. Thats next, with bill moller. The local pizza parlor, the shoe repair shop, they cater to customers within a pretty tight radius, maybe a few miles around. But you know, more and more small mediumsized businesses that is, those that are between 10 and 250 employees are seeking their profits internationally. Dhl express just completed research that underscores why this is happening. Raoul sreenivasan is an executive with dhl, and i guess in a nutshell, its simply because they are finding more profits and success by doing business overseas. That is exactly right bill. We conducted this research in q4 last year across all g7 countries as well as the brick and mexico countries, and we have found that smes that operate internationally small and mediumsized enterprises. Yes. They are twice as likely to be considered high performers as those that just ship or operate within their boundaries. Are they successful and more profitable because they are doing business across borders . Theres two things. Naturally you think they have access to additional markets and additional customers, that would make sense. But we also found they have access to best practices, best global practices, which make them more efficient organizations themselves. What about the challenges, because it is not just a matter of calling up somebody and saying, hey, buy my wares. There are some crossborder issues that kind of dampen the opportunities. Three big challenges stuck out when we interviewed these companies. 1 , just finding customers overseas. 2 is obviously the import duties associated with shipping overseas. And 3 is finding Business Partners overseas. We found that smes can work with local chambers of commerce and can obviously do their Research Online and leverage things like president obamas National Export initiative and the department of commerce, which dhl also partners with, to gain access to these markets. Its interesting, because there are opportunities out there, and probably a lot more Small Business owners dont realize that they could take advantage of a Customer Base thats a little wider than they think it is. That is exactly right. Specifically as consumption shifts away from the larger g7 countries to other economies around the world, a lot of smes that currently ship internationally will be poised to benefit from these changes. Raoul sreenivasan from dhl express, thanks so much. Thank you bill. Thank you bill. Still ahead, is it time for hedge funds to get outta town . That and more next in traders unplugged. Time for traders unplugged on this friday. From the floor of cme group, our pro traders, Alan Knuckman and andrew keene, are geared up for some frank talk about the market. Lets move to topic number one, guys commodity calm big banks are experiencing a revenue decline because of commodities. Which commodities make money here . I think the strategy that should make money even though its not would be to be short the banks. The banks ive talked about. I dont like their Business Models at all, but the fact is they continue to go higher. So i am just playing on the side of being flat them. The banks used to make a lot of money on the trading desk and the bond desk and the oil desk. They are not making money on the trading desk, so the good thing would be to be short the banks, but you can not fight this market. That is simply because volatility in everything has gone down, so that means there is less price movement, less opportunity. But Goldman Sachs has gone from 90 to 160, Morgan Stanley has doubled from 12 to 24. I dont think you want to step in front of that bus. I like oil as a commodity. I think it is undervalued here. As the Global Economy rebounds, we could make another push on 100, and 110 is a nearterm target in crudeoil, so i think you could look at that as a commodity that is undervalued here even with a strong dollar. Topic number two peak our interest the fed says it will not raise Interest Rates on those shortterm bonds until we have unemployment under 6. 5 who knows when that will be . So, what about longterm bonds . What do you see there, and what is the play . We have seen longterm bonds jump from 2. 5 last summer, the extreme lows, up to 3. 25 . It has kind of stalled out here, but 3. 75 on a 30year yield is about the Halfway Point of the 2009 highs to those extreme lows. So, i think we still have more upside, because that is a sign of stability, and i am going to say it one more time recovery. The bond market i dont like to play 10 years down the road . I dont know my position for next week in any stocks. I have like 40 positions on a different stock. I play a daytoday, weekbyweek. 10 years down the road is money going to come out of the bonds . We are going to move on to topic number 3 market money movers. Hedge funds want to move offshore, of course for tax purposes. Is this a good thing for hedge funds . Do they make money this way . Is their performance better . Yeah its a good thing for a hedge funds, just like its a good thing for Tech Companies to hide their money overseas just like apple is doing. Apple has all their cash overseas. Hedge funds are going to take their profits overseas so they dont have to pay u. S. Taxes. Can we do the pledge of allegiance . But anyway, mr. Paulson wants to go to puerto rico, but he should be concerned about the 18 he lost in his gold fund last month. That is his concern, and going there they still have the dollar in puerto rico the dollar is what is killing gold, and actually gold is continuing to hold ground even though the dollar has new six to eight month highs. So, i think gold is a positive, and he is going to recover from that, not that it matters, because he is worth 11 billion. Here is this weeks bonus round question. I am getting a little serious here, and because it is st. Patricks day, a lot of people will be drinking, so dont forget to designate a driver. What is the average cost, guys, of a dui . Is it 1,000, 5,000, or 10,000 . Thank god i have no idea. I dont know either. Maybe if you include the lawyer fees. I hope its a lot. Im gonna say 5,000. Take a taxi, take a taxi, sleep in a bus terminal. Just dont i dont know about the bus terminal, but i will take 5,000. It is 10,000. That was a good publicservice announcement. Thanks guys. Have a good weekend. Sleep in a bus terminal . First business continues right after this. We love all our traders, but we saved the best for last. At the beginning of the year we were looking for a rally into the First Six Months of the year. We havent changed our opinion. And this is one of these markets that broke away at the very beginning of the year i am talking jan. 1. It has really never looked back, and now what it is doing is it is gaining lets assume the dow, but Everybody Knows that it is gaining 5 to 50 points a day, and that is not giving much of a break to anybody to get in, so you have got a lot of people left on the sidelines that want to come in. So i still look bullish, but i am going to tell you now, i think that sell in may, go away theory is something you look at in midto late may. So if people get in now, they have to be prepared to maybe take some money off the table in may. What signals are you watching specifically . The specific one i am geared into now is called a slow stochastic study. What it is, its a momentum indicator that uses two lines to crisscross each other. One is based, if you are on a daily chart, on the last three days, the other line is based on five. And when they lock in and they get over 80 and sideways, what you start doing is you say the market is embedded, it is locked in that trend, and that is where all the stock indices are right now. And as long as it stays that way, i just look at each break and pullback, which have been very shallow so far, as a positive sign. Obviously you want to be a bit careful with the first warning signs you had in the dollar index on thursday that started acting as it rallied like maybe it has had enough, and the swiss franc and some of the other currencies are starting to rally a bit against that. So i am watching that. But in the stock market, you are going to have to get somebody out of the fed or somebody out of the ecb to do something. Thank you. We will have to have you back really soon. Thanks so much to ira epstein of the linn group. Have a good weekend. You too. That closes out our week. Coming up next week, a Retail Revolution is underway. Find out why stores are doing an extreme makeover to entice shoppers. From all of us at first business, have a fun and relaxing weekend
