In the Oakland California San Francisco Bay Area region probably at 2 in the morning and so hey wake up truckers enjoy this conversation about video games this is character study where we discuss characters from the video game Super Smash Brothers one character per episode I'm Jacob ribbon and today we're joined by comedian Seamus Coulter Hello thanks for coming on the show Seamus thank you for having me now there's a little significance to Seamus being here because Seamus what character we cover the last time you were here Julie Bove No No Fox MacLeod How dare you in a fox McCloud is correct and so who are we covering today felt alone Barty Malcolm Marty now what do a box and Falcon liberty have in common yet very Americanized last night that's true actually I noticed this today I was thinking about all the characters and Starfox we have Fox McCloud Falco and Marty will for Donal Yeah about this in the last episode I think it's an Irishman yachtsman and yeah yeah but then slip the toad peppy hair their last names what animal they are French French yeah. Slightly toad That's a rock Tories Chipchura they actually know their frog he's a toad. Although he is green like a frog I don't know that I think I don't think I know that they're animals I think to be American because of his trucker hat and I think Pepe because I think you know Pepper it was to be British and Pepe is opposed to be French that's my understanding of it well he's just he is Sergeant Pepper or general pepper and yeah pigment Dangar is supposed to be the bandaged bounty hunter from Empire Strikes Back or later becomes But it's befits best friend right really are that's that's really I think because no that's my only association you know. That's crazy yeah he's a bounty hunter they probably were just like Star Wars So he's from Star Wars. And Panther Caruso had the courage to let you know Russo he's Spanish Yashin and is accent and. Polish polish who is the only one with no animal reference in his name period you know be on his a class so chameleon you know Ok. And then then who's There's one more enjoy Kony. Who is the son of Andros What is he he's he's a he's a monkey we can me now to know that loving him and you know but also not one. You know it could be you know I don't know we could look that up but yeah that's the name of the Starbucks of Star Fox is such a very interesting before we even Falco So Fox is such an interesting game because it's a. Male shooter right with an animal casting right and and it's consistently one of the better games they put up with they barely put them out ever Yes I mean speaking of which though I don't know if you guys watch than 10 a direct I did not hear oh yeah well transposed too much one of my friends clued me into every major thing and I'm excited about a lot of what they announce once again the Tendou prove me wrong. Going to be worth watching and and they had some really really awesome reveals with just specifically for Star Fox We know that Mia Moto was testing out that Legard defense game right at $83.00 and we were like Is this for Star Fox News like me defense is like a tower defense game exactly so they release basically it's now used to call private guard now it's called Starfox guard it comes packaged with Starfox 0 if you just buy the regular retail version if you buy one of them digitally you get a $5.00 discount on the other game. And it's also available by itself for 15 bucks on the shop it well that's great so it's a great set up you too can see the picture I'm showing you right now but you see there promotional are is just slippy and his dad grippy. Drippy todo with light games as Jordan my partner pointed out mustache and hair on group b. The toe Yeah he looks like a hockey dad yeah yeah and look it's a very Japanese art style with the pull of the official website but it's really cool how they reveal anything resembling a character design or anything is going to be like I mean is it actually a tower defense game it's actually a tire defense game and the idea is that that. Grip is going to be talking to you the whole time and like helping you out and also it's a slippery game if you're playing as slip you're playing Ok so this is like the guesses on game it's like the Explorer toad Yeah yeah so you can you see this amazing art for fog 0 and then scroll down here Starfox Garg click on that and you see this giant drawing so it's like it's very animated this it's almost like here and it's art style. And you can see or hear groupies like telling you what to do and. Several screens that you Interesting yeah I kind of hope that Starfox 0 does Starfox assault 1st where they have you could play as multiple members of the Star Fox crew that yeah like I would love it 0 like as much as we all love Fox I think would be really interesting if you could play as all of the crew and like yeah go from there and have them all be different character yeah yeah like like. 2. It doesn't look like they have a multiplayer competitive in this one which is unfortunate I love Starfox $64.00 is multiplayer still holds up as right or right I would agree I retired I won't I won't play it. So the other details are really thoughts are facts here today just from what I've been able to gather because I also have not watched the direct yet. There's a co-op option where another player will be able to control the are when will you shoot or vice versa interesting and the big thing they reveal is that because I'm evil as are so integrated with the games now the Starfox of me will unlock the classic are going design from the Super Nintendo. And you'll be able to play with that so if you so this stuff likes me both. Is that was already been released like a couple years ago your thing for the Falco I don't know yet I don't know if they were a little they're a little mysterious about the rest of it Ok according to them I bet you get actually yeah and of those and tying back to talking names one thing that only I will get this reference in this room Sure but the little birdie trophy is 'd a football it's what you get when you win the Super Bowl of course it's the football no like it's like you if there's somebody jammed a football atop of Washington Monument exactly that's along party trophy so right all along party has the same name as the Liberty trophy but his amigo pose and like his most popular pose is very much the Heisman pose. And I always like I know it's not intentional but that's always just been this rearward thing I've noticed about it's a synchronicity and it's kind of a it's a I mean there's I'd say a decent chance less than 50 percent but that's intentional like somebody at Nintendo somebody I would like to think it was just one guy who was like you know it's funny Yeah explain it to people like no one will get this why and then years later I'm the one guy and I want to just give that guy props right now yeah like a little air fist bump Oakley's alive you know I like that a lot and I feel like that's a fun fact whether it's true or not it's just such a weird occurrence Yeah yeah I agree. Yeah I mean like quickly like some of the other directs of like Apparently they're releasing new Kirby amoebas including like I'm a human Kirby you're familiar that and a couple other grow they're going to like the Kirby hats from Smash Brothers Herron Lee I don't know how many if they release all of them that's insane there really thing like a new creature bill getting money for it he would never get so much money and there are a few other big things but I'll leave it to people who are going to have one on one next week when you read to me. It's a little mask like that you wear all the top your head you know the face of whoever you eat yes yes yes that's creepy but it's one of those like Japanese like summer festival math oh yeah so it's not like then it's the me thing it is actually the nice face it's you know whoever you a yeah that is scary Yeah yeah and then you get like the little gun or the little sword or a little I don't really like if you if you play as me as in you have a really big investment in these play style in Super Smash Brothers you're really missing the point of these games right well you know people can i don't know there's at superstars brothers shot which I suppose every episode there's a guy who plays as a me his name is Mike any place that he called the bike Yeah it looks kind of like a ventriloquist dummy version of him with a mushroom hat and I don't I think that's sort of on the air. Because like you know it's it's. You could put like a stab. Yeah I don't know I just feel like of the amoebas you could get like the medium Evo is kind of redundant Yeah I mean you know people have been customizing them but yeah it's a lot of work to have to have that. Yeah so Falcon who's your favorite Starbucks character famous Ok so this is a weird thing I get a lot of my favorite is oh we can't swear anymore yes sorry no worries I got a lot of slack for it. People give me a hard time it really steams my clams. But slippy I don't know why it was just partly just Starfox 64 was like my game when I was growing up. It was like I played. It was I played that game well past the point of having anything to do in it like 100 percent of training that you get nothing for doing that but for some weird reason like everyone hated slippy it was just like he's annoying and I was just like so proud also because like the 1st couple times I played through I actually managed to like save him and grey and so I never had to deal with like the land master level where you have to go save and all of this affair and so it was always like he just never did anything super annoying in my mind hearing people hate him I was just like I was like a empathize with him I was like no sleepy built all of the ships right yeah like he's the mechanic the team doesn't function without He's arguably the most book smart member of the crew exactly and like and he's box is best friend and also he's got one of the best lines period there carcass has my name and I like. Well yeah but but also is I don't know if you guys remember this when you played multiplayer on 64 Starfox player one was Fox player 2 was peppy player 3 was slippy and Player 4 was Falco and I think not a lot of people know is that each one of them is slightly different really yes how so lot of magic is the all around like Mark is all around yeah Alco is slightly faster of course for these lasers are slightly better and I think some as petty as better defense better defense or bombs or something. He does encourage you to use bombs wisely so that would make sense exactly I think he also barrel rolls used bombs wisely and use wise Bhansali you're becoming more like your father would have put them under for yeah he's a wise Bosley. Very good I like I like to imagine a fox and Falco standing back to back Fox holding a smart Falco holding a bomb as long. As he. Has audience match for. Among No no I think it's just because I was I like that mechanic that was a fun one yeah yeah you get thrown Yeah this incredibly heavy object but it didn't I didn't fly very far but a lot of them it was only about a Mr Saturn right and there's always that one friend who didn't realize how terrible Bosley was until they got yeah given the deficit. Yet so great it's very much Mr Saturn it will kill me Mr Will Mr Saturn is useless Mr time to counter yet he goes through shields that's the cool thing with Mr Sattar and you can really tie you up if you use him right right ice or tie a person up I mean nothing will ever be more like I don't know if you guys talk items super heavily on this show we do Ok because you know yes the smart bomb is terrible if it because it will go off by accident and write the new with a weird like x. Laser one they have in the new game Bo Yes I think it's called the expo but I don't even know again that's from the really destructive ones even some polka balls like really terrible no item will ever aggravate people especially me as much as the fans oh the fans just fan the fan is terrible being played every game I will pay and should not be I love that it devastates I mean they got that with a roll I don't leave those in brawl it's been since $64.00 no it's on the it's on the car or yeah it's on the carpets and I know for a fact about the current one I pretty sure thought I was Ok good might be not imbroglio I love that fan so much and will like oh good people compared to the super scope saying like oh somebody has a super scope in the game stupid because these people beat and hit everybody but like the Super Bowl has a limited amount of ammunition you only have Also if you're smart about it is not that devastating Also I use I target my super scope I always try yeah I always I think if you just let it it's just turning a character into effect of Sammis right you know the ball goes a lot farther I think the projectile Yeah yeah the ray gun is the one that really will scream right yeah so Seamus we got you on because you are the Big Star Fox is probably I guess your favorite and a franchise if you had to pick one Yeah I would definitely go stark Ok cool so how do you compare playing fox and Falco in special orders. Which one do you favor for one I favor Fox and like honestly it's any given day of the week I can go either way it is that Fox is the one that I go back to seemingly the most just as if you're you know like 64 smash it was all Fox all day all day all day maybe Exactly and then melee of some melee was just like unquestionable you got to go with Fox but it. Comes out and Falco is debatably better debatably the same like I think tearing has and it's like one in 2 and it's just Fox's number one because it's Fox and it's based off and the current game no in melee Oh yes and so in May I'm getting to that see that thing Israeli It was like one in 2 Falco was the difference is that Fox is fast Falco stronger and but I'll go ahead Matt Hobbs Falco had terrible recovery yes but he could jump really high he could jump really high he was supposed to make up for the fact that it has a b. Was actually not very good in the it was but it does more damage than right. The easiest way to really explain that is actually on the castle stage if you go all the way to the edge of the map and you jump off and then there's the little platform underneath every character in the game you know some things like Link has to be holding a bomb or some stuff like that like a sickly through some mechanic Yeah every character in the game can actually leave that platform and get to the bottom all the way to go it's. The last thing you would need to do is uses up b. And his up b. Doesn't go that far and is a solid direction his side b. Doesn't go as far as the Hawks is if they both are supposed to hit more rights and the other thing is that like his reflector because he launches it out in melee right that yeah oh yeah he was out starting in brawl it works the same as foxes and melee but it doesn't have as much of a. I don't know it's not as a combo of less coverage than Fox's Yeah we're always bothered me and you can't like I think maybe one of his custom moves is that you can like attach it and it will go into what like me but like you know the side cover alternate moves you can't like nobody uses the elephant. Unless unless turning it on are you saying that you can use them which is I mean it's actually like it's a good debate because certain characters like like Donkey Kong is a pretty relatively not great character right now sure you uses condoms he becomes a great character you know he was yeah probably 10 to housing problems and it was invented entirely to be used right for custom. There are so many things to do and her stock moves that is terrible and doesn't have to go together at all no because one buff recently the Me 2 can play them competitively and like does as rising amount of stuff for the I think the tournaments should open up the ability use custom moves but you can't use buffs you can attach like items that in class you know stagger I always thought to smash really tournaments would be done would be interesting I just on if there's enough characters to do it but it always be interesting to do it like Pokemon style where in Pokemon tournaments there's like basically the uber tearless like. Like you know like for a while you could use blysse you know like you just can't use certain like Usually it's all of the legendary right and I think there was like to poke him on that cracked it like wall but I think years ago was the only one of the Fed is you almost always considered to be a bad character because in competitive play it's kind of not fun yeah and so there's there's tears I was like These are characters you can't use Yeah then we're going to hold a tournament and we're going to set the level for the tournaments so there's like oh you which is like overused characters they're not quite banned but they're the ones that are on every team right like they are yeah and that would be you know like Fox Martha you know chic melee turned I think your yeah then you have like underuse which are characters that are good but you kind of have to build them into a team as opposed to like being able to just fucking goddamned sorry. You're going to go about it or we're going to talk slowly cool we think we can believe I don't know how this works but I'm going to stop swearing. But yes it's characters who are good but they're not good enough to like run the team themselves and so I think that could be like your you know in this generation your review box actually to be Kong like characters are not quite the top tier but they're good enough that you know upper tier you know they've been there from a top top tier in the now is not so much you know we're just saying a lot because they've basically nerved on every update and yeah and there was that much to nerf Yeah yeah. It's disappointing. Yeah I mean I think I mention this unless it was for Fox But I you know I have a relation with stocks as well I would say is my favorite Nintendo franchise but it was the one of the 1st over 10 years I ever had when I was 5 I played obsessive Lee Fox became I mean in 64 and I was pretty vicious with him but then Millie came out and then they made him like fall really fast and a really heavy and I merely was this was like a really competitive game based game so I couldn't play me more and so I had to adopt Falco because he was that's the thing about so this is my Again this is kind of just I I have fear. He's on these characters like I think about this too much great as well about go in Malay is basically Fox in 64 that's what I that's I was sort of felt like yeah oh yeah I see very much far yes extensive go had to be my main melee and there were it was nice because I really liked Falco I thought he was the coolest guy ever because I was like 8 yeah and the thing is though it goes till you go to brawl Yeah and suddenly Fox is like Fox fell out of being really a competitive thing it was right I'll go Falco was male a fox right and then Fox was a dumbed down version of Malay Falco Yeah yeah but then you get to 4 and now Falco is like this dumbed down brawl Fox Yeah box's back to being king they couldn't find a proper balance I guess and I'm starting to learn Fox again but it's like it's hard to play either of them now they're so different from when I was a kid he's very much he's like I would you say like Falco controls like like personally he prefers the air Yeah but it's also that he's he's a character he's a layout We'll talk about that you know Yeah well he's a little more forgiving if you're not like really quick whereas Fox It's so much of his and he has a lot of moves that will open up combos so there's a lot of you can do but he doesn't have as many moves at all just like devastated character really off the bat or you know I mean his down air and yeah his down here in melee is basically the best attack and that was actually a comment we got Surely if you put the next day and somebody was like talking about his down air how it's the most broken spike and saying that that's Marcel he's going to be on the midnight episode Oh great so yeah that he will miss the madness and likely the heart of that game his game yeah that move is devastating and. It's like the. Captain Falcon or Zelda's side air Yeah it's like Diddy's meteor smash we fly the wake up and go inside there is basically Daniel Bryan Spencer the knee running. He just slams you in the face it was me doing a battalion how many references he makes per episode per day I just have to see how much it hurts at the end of the day like how much of her heart. Lissa just go you've got to wrestling yet and I say you get no you know coming I know we know I mean you've already I'll say this on the show to keep you on record like you've already expressed some general interest in one piece you know yeah he did straight off we have to be yeah right I'm willing to for that exchange I'll tell you this if you can get the books to me put in my head I will read every single one Ok but I don't want to watch it because I can I might have some a letter you know p.d.s. So. You advertise that you have a legal p.d.f. Allegedly allegedly like Italy where you know there are legal you can probably buy you can you pirate days oh my God I love I love that news that nothing made me happier than reading that So Ok let's talk about how I felt like so basically gave So we had his b. Yeah laser pistol laser pistol which was solid like the end $64.00 foxes it stuns you and it's a road little bit more damage right right whereas Fox is now is the people who you know rapid fire I told you all my strategy for glory against foxes is to just start calmly walking towards the fox pressing be immediately and it really throws them off you can see how angry they Yeah yeah well I mean just say I don't care what you later because she got that thing is I when I really played Fox a lot. I haven't played enough for to really say that I have it like my mind was did when I was really playing a lot. And I don't know I. Listen. Well I think I made the switch around for all the fox was just a room Fox That's why I got so excited about Project am I right it was like I immediately have Malay Fox back and all right that's my character that's what I want to play forever nice but with that with Fox's laser It was very much like you need you use. Just get cheap damage it's one you know it's just one percent but you can just crank them out it's really fast really fascinates really easy to go into anything else out of it right but if your game is like I'm going to play this and hope that they try to defend or do anything you're not doing it right and yeah that's where it's Falco is it's less about like getting it out to get that damage and using it for that stunt like do that and then you're going to start good edge guard too it's a great I never cover you to shoot them useful it's really good yeah let's get inside the illusion attack So 1st of all I'd love that this is a move directly from the original Starfox games love that 1st foremost about all the time when they're like oh use your running allusion thing project illusions about how do you love it and where what is that. I think it's just kind of like yeah it's just kind of like it's kind of like what happened with Captain Falcon they were kind of like we don't have a design for this character outside of a ship right what if we just make him ridiculous because. He looks like a martial arts superhero character let's give him moves like a martial art superhero characters bigger which we got to talk about this the law super trash just with the strike half a lot and yeah there was someone there it with a pitch perfect yappin Falcon help me out here try it on I do not Ok territory I both put it on took selfies Yeah we did you could check out our Instagram so I'm Jacob as a ribbon and I'm sure Mario Yeah and you can see any Meese I have a picture and it also took one with I think his caption with my favorite. Yes yes I was a little platform we all understand so yeah I know what you're going to think I'm talking they came up with like this Oh yeah I'm a character we really become what they. Character is not it's kind of great like have to tell him it's always there and I think looking at Starbuck's characters you add like them and Sam is for the only ones who are really like tech space characters and Sam is has a movie set Sammis had you know run and gun doing everything she did was in running guns all day you know because of the last thing she actually does because you're just want to give a quick shot of the fan to worship though they were the ones I know is the host and he was going to be the helmet and I've been a mess to them but they haven't responded so right so you know calling them out they would do something with them on the show at some point yeah there we go we would go yeah or they'd have us a little just post the of the to their wall and then yeah it's meant to delete it. Yeah listen up. Yeah yeah at Phantom workshop on all social media yeah you got this upset was about Falco it's actually about marketing and social media when the word problem is going to start paying money so I know it so how does a side be different from Fox's a shorter shorter and shorter and it hits harder yeah so like that's that's a running theme throughout this it's his moves are deal more damage but are slower or have fewer of shorter range Yeah it's all I mean all of the clone characters have this it's you know much more Yoda Dr Mario exactly they all took like have it all going to get in or if it's just a redistribution of traits where you want to Roy in fact all nearly every clone that I can think of in melee except Picchu that's the clone is the stronger but slower version Yeah yeah yeah and the thing is like kind of in-between but yeah yeah yeah but as you say it's not saying that I'm saying in melee that I like I thought about brawl Yes but like yeah it's get I mean Gandalf was garbage in my life. Depends who's played him actually you know like I've recently become a big fan again and or if you know going back to like when I 1st saw him in melee I just like this is garbage character now I'm a big fan however but as you say it's he hits hard and he's really slow but it was that he came from the Falcon moves very much like the fast Be quick sure get in Fox and Falco Fox is faster he's not that much faster. Whereas Falco hits harder but he's also still very quick and so it's the movies that still works with what they made the character of the character is just different enough that they do it's really just like peas and carrots Yeah or oranges yeah so then peas and carrots then we have is up the which is tremendous I mean it's the Firebird Firebird Yeah as opposed to our Fox Yeah it's you know same shorter but stronger Yeah yeah I mean yeah it's good stuff I mean that's actually the problem you know it's the same thing it does more damage but it's also a kind it's not a very good recovery Right right and then the down b. Which used to be just the center of like it but now he throws it in front of him that's so odd Why is that I think that actually the style he also does it in one of the conversations I think I can member when though I can't believe. He's giving right now take it tips on him yeah I think it is you know he says like he tries to get flash he was yeah that you know it is yeah and then snake compliments Libby and slippy is like oh simply no it's me. That's so stupid Thank you so I suspect that it was because like. The I think the casual average player of Smash Brothers doesn't realize the reflector is actually a very good authentic tool and I think by making Falco kick it out yeah I just like tip the cap to gleefully wouldn't realize it yet but hey this is that because it's big it's significantly more I rarely actually use the reflector on projectiles break mainly because most people aren't dumb enough to shoot projectiles. Right but it's like Falco especially just with the actual having that range on that like it's so much easier to hit people with yeah right it doesn't good damage Yeah this goes back to how much of a stubborn child I was like Ellie until last year have I ever started like learning fighting games and. You talked about this very bluntly a few days ago yet say I don't block Yeah I just don't you know I just don't I just play fully offensively and I've had to teach myself to block and last year and almost I'm turning 27 like a week so it's very late I was the same like back in melee they will give you like all these point bonuses for doing certain things in the game like if you get the 1st kill you get certain points of your head I can still response after I kill people it's not like 500 points you would yeah I think yeah yeah But speaking of which by the way when you play other people and do that you would write such a jerk but when you're in this game. Smash smash they had a bonus in melee so you get a bonus for it was called No or for you and that was a bonus you got Ray never blocked I would do that every once in a while yeah yeah I would see it all the time not knowing what it meant as a kid I googled it and it was like oh it means you never block which means you're stupid yeah you should just ball I never played dodge a lot I point out a dodge in the things like that but it's pretty predictable and so now I've slowly learned how to say no you know because your play is a lot is enough Elko brace less of a concern you can write you should not be standing still is that Lee but so but speaking about how stubborn I was like when melee came out it became part of the metadata attack offensively with a down the reflector Yeah and yeah I've been using n 64 because what that require was me reading the opponent pony and expecting projectiles I would only use downby if it was pure reaction I mean because of the because of it being like yeah really maybe it was one that took office Yeah being often so yeah and so I never learned how and so I still can't use the down be offensively and Fox but on Falco I'm going to kick it out a lot easier yeah my thing with Fox was that my backup character in melee you would think would be Falco was actually. And Julie puff and Fox both of them too are basically like the heart of their attack strategy really is that down b Yeah it's the sleep yeah it's the same tactic it's the short bunny hop that you kind of have to hit right as you make contact with them and so this is like I'm going to make a claim that I can't back up because I haven't tried to test it out in a while like a year or 2 years ago when I you know was still playing Smash Brothers lot more I could I could I could just do that in my sleep like I just became so integrate like integrity to everything I was doing that it was just like I could walk away from the game and to be like short run you know it'd be. Well if I did it I think I actually did want to one of the one of the trash brothers smash the difference with glee puff it was a very very satisfying Yeah that sounds nice that's sweet yeah with Diddy I just I just go. Full offense and people know exactly what I'm doing and look if you're really going to do your duty is a character who is looked at as being you can be very defensive with yeah and I refused to and like you so Marcel in question I played him in like he's amazing at all fighting games he's very very good and like the one thing he could take me on was like you aren't shielding and you're doing the same moves over and over again and I'm like yeah I'm just waiting for them to land Yeah they do something else and then when that then we need a way to ruin me but he wrote me it's kind of like every now and then when I'm playing smash I remember all right grabs you can grab and then I don't want to spend the next like 30 seconds just going for grabs and then he gets bored because I keep doing it and I forget the grabs it's a good thing you mention grabs because that is actually another point of being a little different oh yeah Fox's grabs a really nice Falco's are not as good well he doesn't really have fingers but he also just point he's got wings and there really has got weird bendable fit if you ever see. But I was I always thought of Donald Duck sounds to be very unnerving because it's like shouldn't. Mickey I guess make sense Vicky and goofy they have like yeah I mean looking here at like his promotional art for this looks like a 0 I don't know there are Donald Duck hands yet he just has long creepy fingers that are covered in feathers. I mean we talked about this in the last episode but like Star Fox Star Fox is like the awakening call for Right right yeah right I'd say so I couldn't start off with a I tell you only theory I think I mentioned on this show that just like the ninety's essentially created the phenomenon where there were so many t.v. Shows and of over it animals Ninja Turtles strike shorts breaker mice from Mars Oh my God I feel sick out Sonic the Hedgehog was like I got to go fast they really got to be sexually turned on Sally Yeah yeah yeah there was. More that the show with the president's dogs the every country yeah yeah there's always that whole big robot rover or some way that I remember the song because it was super into that show and they had a very intense in your face romantic subplot between the America. Dog and the French dog of course yeah the golden retriever who belong to the present United States and then the oh my God Well Rose Rovers rose and they had one that was always chained up like Hannibal Lector Yeah because he was like a rabbit and but he belonged to a state a head of state Yeah official and then there was the giant sheep dog who would transform with him but for some reason he still couldn't speak he was like the Irish dog or something he was Scott and he couldn't where he was God He couldn't he couldn't wear an outfit. So ridiculous but. For real though looking I don't know if listeners other have seen the Starfox designs like they're gorgeous they've not only what we used antacids looks so good and like because before shortly before a lot of passed away they did like the Nintendo Direct where they opened with them as puppets and then they transformed into the Starbucks buffets and then they had Starfox puppets running around the set for a few seconds and like it's obvious that if you look at a star for their designs they're drawing inspiration from those puppets they look they look like they're real puppets come to yeah like a like a Japanese. I forgot name of the puppet show you know yeah. I may be slightly repeating myself because I think I said I think I said this is well last time but when I was a kid and you know I'm super into Starfox and just Nintendo in general so as to get into Powers nice and I found a picture in a Nintendo Power convention where they had some people dressed up as the 4 members of Star Fox nice and it was like I mean it wasn't quite for the level but it was really well done sure kind of almost like whoa these look realistic Yeah yeah Austin's of them and I you know and I'm like 8 or 9 stories to like believe I can do anything so I try to convince my friend like Dude will be the Star Fox crew this will be great. And it was years later I thought back on it and I'm like oh yeah actually no I take that back it was the original Starfire So you know it was like hey let's. Yeah speak ill of going off of that like there's a rumor I think I saw it in the power or just heard it somewhere rumors back then in the ninety's were very hard to substantiate but these outfits on the official box are this just a picture of Starfox standing dramatically with the background of our wings right and the our wings and Starfox and the other characters in the manual they all look real They're like it's like practical effects like yeah you know the rumor is that Nintendo has somewhere these 4 costumes and a giant Are we not John r. And d. Like a total are way and yeah oh like like well like formerly used miniatures for the right yeah but like where are they and also kind of want them I want to actually kind of looking back at the original Starfox design it's very simple Yeah I wish we stuck with I would go so far to call this the most famous example of taxidermy on the planet. Yeah those are absolutely real and uncanny it's very uncanny valley like for like Friday night at Freddie's like right there like I like that one right there this one are down. Right there this one yeah this is yeah it's crazy how in the yeah I began to hear over he was like yeah Rennes we can do this. And I remember this like they had these super long fingers they would always curl up when they put their hands on their. Amazing actually you guys will have to go back even just put them in John glass cases in your room you guys are actually welcome to laugh at me when you're Let's hear a couple years ago yeah hollowing I've been sick leading up to it I don't know anything to go as or anything. I end up like feeling better on although we have time to like come up with a costume or anything and I wasn't going to do anything my friend shows up is like hey we're going to go out we're going to do some stuff so we're you know getting the night going and like I guess I should probably come up with some kind of costume things I had in my room or in the possession of roommates that randomly I ended up getting a foxtail from someone who had a fox. Red flag red flag Yeah I got Barksdale right like we were over for some reason I'd like Fox ears and so I was like Ok and then I get up just having like this many white jacket and I was when I was wearing I had a bunch of cars. Painting at the time right I have a jacket that I was doing how saying yes I actually had like a flight suit and so on you're just throwing a small Jacobites you're throwing that years on. And I'm like I went out of the house proud thinking like yeah I did it and then I was like I'll block it and just it kind of occurred to me like no. Everyone thinks that this is just how it like this is. In the Oakland Disco Bay Area we're still talking Falco Lombardi of Star Fox particularly how he plays in the Star Fox video game sorry super special this weekend series now one issue and this is an issue I have a all clone characters is that he's shares his final smash Now what's the irritate it without Fox called on the lead Master great totally make sense lame ass as a devastating thing Falcon called gonna let Master doesn't make sense Falco prefers the air he says so when he calls on the last guy like an apology in the same game Wolf calls on the line Master Master 3 care to same titles about Obviously not if you like just like howler something yeah he just howls Yeah good for him he's cool like that but Ok so let's let's talk get into alternative final smashes for Falcon let's do it I think some kind of strafing run like kind of like what does your as it Sam is does where he jumps and worship me at the lasers right I think I would've been really cool if you did something similar to that but it would I know that it's you can't create a final smash that takes away gameplay from other characters right like if you're going to do something like that. I don't I think I could be cool if you could be he jumps off the screen and then you get like one pass in in an hour when flying over the stage and it's just kind of like Star Fox You could shoot at him yeah yeah but that might be so involved and so ridiculous Here's a thing that could be kind of cool. He gets into he gets in his our way and you fly off. To the left let's say all the way off the ledge of the stage then the ring flies over the top of the stage and then you can control a turret on the bottom of the ship to ship people you're going flying past kind of slowly strafing runs going straight through it's kind of like the ship in space and there's that goes by sometimes just like the ships in the corn area level Yeah well I do yeah I always thought like I mean the our wing is actually probably the best final smash because it covers the entire stage right to our way of what the land mass or a master Yeah because it covers the entire stage if they're on top of it you can fly off of the screen there and it's a very little they can do about it so I have. But yeah and you know they're on top if you're standing on top of the barrel and they're a pretty high damage and you just have to be they're dead yeah yeah it's devastating Yeah it's just boring and algos is a link you can barrel roll to the different I can talk to the fellows as Falco's is a little better in the air and deals a bit more damage and last a little longer I think right I may felt a fox's loss of lawyers because Wolf it's like going to see I'm not a superstar and God I'm not basic so I don't play with I don't. You know the basic me this is this is a major part of our podcast is the fact that we are open to items and yeah those items at the super trust brothers I actually I like playing with items when it's just like my friends but like super trash Bros If it's like I'm going to play and people who are very good and it's like kind of competitive I kind of like being able to just match up actual characters you know. Yeah it's not tournaments standard is all I'm saying Sure but like we were just proud of a big hurdle it's Ok I don't whack like I get it but like I think that the idea of competitive play for this game like me moto it's a good game competitive as the game is created and meant to be played right. You know not a mega level every time you know items Yeah because like I like the fact that when we play with him but I'm pretty sure listening not maybe not live but can then you better be live Kevin Kevin like I look over your shoulder haven't we're behind you or inside you so what I spy so I like this is what I like about being able to play is that if the 3 of the lots of the 4 of us were playing with Kevin if it was a regular fighting game Kevin to win every time but because this is Star Fox sorry problems due to items due to stage interference due to whatever there is Kevin would most of the time but each of us will probably win and in a given hour will each with a handful of patches Yeah and after a certain amount of time it will really just be the 3 of us versus Kevin being right you just have to kill him 1st yeah we take him out 1st and then he ends up taking out 2 of us and then the last one will have like an extra life on him and probably still lives you know it would've been a great final smash for Fox and Falco and even Wolf you had your control of heaven is the game for you tackling you know it really kind of playing this like every episode but like I can sometimes hold my own against you can usually Ok well I say like you claim that you know that you know we should do like we should do like a. Thing where the 2 you we play you show your study tourney just really all of our guests and like are we just like the later on you like you were trash for what you should get into I mean I would say Project them would be the way to do it only plug it in and we do like a tournament style mode where it's everybody who's been on it but they're only allowed to control the character they've talked about oh yeah I'd be cool just random match randomly generated match ups right we've been on for multiple episodes but yeah let us just you know about that yeah maybe we could do like a crossover show like I mean well they do a non live show where they just go to like Jesse's house and play video game that's true we know yeah we could have their character sort of crossover event but be sick I mean yeah we could have like like yeah. Yeah and then the beat basically people to transpose and Iran yeah we could just have Yeah it's like when you say comes. And he's and he drives for this yeah and we had him on who we have him on for. We'll have a few minutes left so we got it so Ok my house match radio was it was like the course on level where they got area one area level but it we could use your favorite things to have us my life is complicated. The corner level where the you know there are occasionally going by and just firing right I think of the grays that they called it in and you would get like the entire animation of like that Starfox crew in like I'm going to work on and yeah just that be great if it had the little light in melee they had that secret top where you could you could do all the rather But you are brawl Yeah and they would it would call in the entire yeah yeah like if something like that was a melee it was a melee you know what they would all come in and just like shoot and then would just be like one last one and you like jump off the screen and join them and you know last thing they do is like somebody comes by just drops the smart bomb right yeah and there are secret taunts for the new game too I believe there are in the end up how tame is Temple stay right here what would be awesome this is is you call the our wings and so you jump up and fly away you don't control the our way it's kind of like pits a regional final smash recalls the army of angels that money so he so you fly away . Then always come in and then there's like the text of Falco talking to slippy and Pepe or Fox or whoever Yeah and their dialogue changes depending on the stage so previously you could only someone else certain stages it would have to do with the characters that were going so but now it's saying like oh where are we what's the target hero we have to take the watch out for the castle terrorists or whatever yeah really Korean sort of smart bomb movie it just shows it just flashes to the great Fox which then shoots a giant laser across the stage you know that because like me Falco just dramatically jumps up to say and then General Piper walks in and then he beats you to a pulp. Thing to be people who know I just was really upset them out of the kid because there was another rumor in the ninety's that he was a playable character why not write one exactly he'd be great and like I believe he is in salt or it might be his daughter yet his daughter's sult has a lot of we. And there's that weird you know thing that like when characters get not especially Maher they just kind of like jump up and then flip to the front of the screen guy also still searching for ideas or the belief that he is just on acid and it's also very popular throughout all the dots and Pac-Man are his own sperm anyway and.
