Some delegates so angry they started to approach his wife heidi who was in the audience and she had to be escorted out of the arena for her own safety. Meanwhile, trump responded by entering the arena before cruz was even done speaking. Still the whole thing kind of overshadowed the keynote address by Vice President ial nominee mike pence. The crowd in an uproar for what cruz didnt do booed loudly by delegates for not endorsing trump just as trump tiptoed in to hear his son speak. Never have i been more proud to be a trump. Reporter the crowd still angry with cruz, there were confrontations with him behind the scenes and his wife heidi was even escorted out of the arena after threats of physical violence. Trump tweeting soon after, wow, ted cruz got booed off the stage. Didnt honor the pledge. I saw his speech two hours early but let him speak anyway. No big deal. The most important night of the convention is tonight. Donald trumps daughter ivanka will formally introduce her father as he formally accepts the partys nomination. Kendis, diane. And, stephanie, we certainly know the kind of reception cruz got inside the arena, but apparently he got a different reaction after he left . Reporter absolutely, diane. Ted cruz got a very warm welcome at the hotel. The texas delegation was there and they just burst into applause once they saw him, cheering him on saying, ted, we love you. Were behind you all the way but then cruz was asked why he didnt endorse trump, and heres what he said, i laid out a very simple standard for a president who will defend liberty and be faithful to the constitution. I hope very much that is who the next president will be. And that was it. And that was it. Im sure there will be more to come as a result of last nights speech. Oh, yeah. Well, also from south florida, a murder suspect who escaped from a courthouse last friday was recaptured. Dayonte resiles was captured late last night at a hotel in West Palm Beach county. The 21yearold went on the lam eluding unarmed deputies slipping out of his jumpsuit, handcuffs and shackles and dashing out of the courthouse door, you see there. Five people have been charged with helping in his escape. And in chicago two men there imprisoned for 23 years, theyre now free this morning after murder charges against them were dropped. An investigation revealed Police Misconduct led to their convictions. Neither man ever confessed and there was no eyewitness testimony or even evidence linking them to the crime. They had long claimed they were set up by a Chicago Police detective who was being investigated for several other wrongful convictions. We hit the upper 50s and mid60s and low 70s, as warm as yesterday but not so much. Breaking news, two people were shot while police were breaking up a large party in brisbane. Amy hollyfield joins us with the latest in brisbane. Matt, that is the surprising part of this, how huge this party was, police are saying that maybe 300 people were gathered no the party they got called to break up as they were trying to break apart this party, they heard gunshots. Police say they were able to elect two gunshot victims. They say they were so many people at the party in brisbane that they had to call for backup. Large amount of people inside and the fact that there were gunshots and victims located. We had several units from other agencies respond to assist with the investigation. The gunshot victims were transported to the hospital. They did not know the condition of the victims. This happened just after midnight. Details are still coming in. Police say they have not located the person who fired the shots or who shot the people. The suspects, still, are at large.
