Those rising racial tensions apparently was a breaking point for dallas army vet Micah Johnson who used his military training to shoot and kill five Dallas Police officers at a peaceful black lives matter protest. The fbi found bombmaking materials in his house. They believe he had plans for a bigger plot. Police chief david brown told cnn johnson taunted officers during a standoff before he was taken out by a robot with an explosive. Laughing at us, singing, asking how many did he get . Reporter as the city mourns, a moment of unity, black lives matter came facetoface with counterprotesters, no fights, just hugs. This is how you take down a wall. Weve just learned this morning that one of the officers of the college that were protecting the College Campus, well, hes the 13th officer shot. He was shot under the vest and listen to this, five minutes after he was treated he was back in the line of duty protecting people. Shaw will require surgery but i can tell you this morning he is resting with his family at home. Another brave story there coming out of dallas, thank you, Kenneth Moton. And for the first time we are hearing from the mother of four who was injured in thursdays attack in dallas as well. Shetamia taylor spoke to reporters at the hospital where shes being treated surrounded by doctors and her sons. So get this, she said that she would attend another demonstration just to show her boys shes not a quitter. She broke down in tears while talking about the officers who came to her rescue. An officer jumped on top of me and covered me. They had no regard for their own life. They stayed there with us, they surrounded my son and i. Im so thankful. I had never seen anything like that. The way they just came around us and just guarded us like that. Taylor was wounded in her right leg. She also broke that leg just below her knee. It may be up to three months before shes able to walk again. Well, president obama does head to dallas tomorrow to meet with the families of the officers killed last week. Hell also speak at a memorial service. The violence and its aftermath forced the president to return early from his trip to spain. Before leaving he said attacking police only hurts the cause of reforming the criminal justice system, and he responded to the protests taking place in cities across the country. The overwhelming majority of people who are involved in the black lives matter movement, what they really want to see is a better relationship between the police and the community. He also said protesters must recognize that most police are trying to protect people fairly, and he claimed rhetoric portraying police as doing otherwise does little to build support for reform. The search was halled but it is expected to resume this morning. The commander on the scene said that the accident happened at 7 00. There is a group of people on board in an inflatable raft, four people fell into the water. Two were able to climb back on to the raft. Two adult men did not make it out of the water. Message crews launched an aggressive rescue effort that now is a recovery operation. There were no life preservers on board. My understanding is they did not know how to swim or were weak swimmers. The Alameda County team used so increase to locate the bodies. They are expected to be here in the lake this morning. A San Francisco woman is dead after a rafting accident in el dorado county. She was going down the south fork of the American River in an inner tube on saturday and fell into the water and drown in heavy rapids. Investigators have not determined if she had on a life jacket.
