Before we get to that full forecast we want to explain something that we will be doing all throughout the storm season and, lisa, its a new feature. Thats right. Everyone in the Weather Center will be presenting an index that gives you an idea of what to expect for the incoming rain. Were calling it the storm impact scale and its going to look a little bit like not this, but we will get to it in just a moment. Here is live doppler 7 hd, we are looking at rain up to the north, that storm index will be a one or the incoming system, meaning its weak and will only give us anywhere from a half inch to lesser amounts of rain and minimal amounts of rain. So this is the system that will be pushing through the pacific northwest, there is five of them to come in the next week. We are looking at an active storm pattern to the north of us and to the south of us things are going to get going come the middle of the week. So we are looking at the cloud cover here and just 48 degrees in and around santa cruz. So it is cool, temperatures were just in the 50s yesterday, looking at 43 in oakland and saj, 38 in morgan hill, halfmoon bay is at 45 and a view from lake tahoe looks pretty good, you know, the snow pack here is much better than it was a year ago, but still not quite where it should be and this next system only go to add a couple of inches to the storm pack the snow pack there in the sierra nevada. 38 santa rosa, the air mass is a little dryer, we are chillier in morning from novato to fairfield and concord 389 degrees, a look from our camera, yeah, the cloud cover is on could you and we are looking at the rain arriving late tomorrow in the north bay. Here is what you can expect with the next system. By 9 00 we are still dry, but by 4 00 in the morning rain is falling from cloverdale, to santa rosa and down through marin county. Its going to take until can have, 7 00 where you get in the east bay, maybe berkeley, San Francisco and as it pushes south from the peninsula to the east bay it begins to fall apart so only scattered showers there and rain amounts will be much less from San Francisco south and even into our east bay valleys as well. So this is a look at what you can expect in terms of the rain, anywhere from a third of an inch to about a tenth in San Francisco. Look what happens from san carlos and oakland,. 05 in livermore. Next system coming in looks stronger and looks like it should be with us Late Wednesday into thursday, in fact, all day thursday, maybe an inch with this one, still a little too far out to tell and then another one after that. Snow pack just 51 of normal which is good, but compared to last year 29 of normal. So each of these little systems bring you a couple of inches of snow and the one throughout the middle of the week should bring much more. Upper 50s for you today with about 60 in palo alto and then the accuweather sevenday forecast looking at the rain and allowing for the temperatures to stay mild before we get our next wet weather maker, looks like a good one wednesday and thursday. So temperatures will be pretty nice until, you know, the snow level is lower and then we get cooler air around here by the end of the weekend. So abc 7 news you can follow it in live doppler 7 hd. More information at abcnews. Com apps. I will show you that storm index next time, its 1 through 5, one being the lowest, five being the strongest, incoming one breezy winds and about a one. Experts say incorrect form cannot only slow you down, it can also lead to injuries. But now a Bay Area Company believes it has a better way forward. The Gold Standard in all this is 3d motion capture. Reporter Rebecca Shultz is a bio chemist and product researcher at lumo. They have developed a sensor that acts like a running coach in your pocket. She is says the team partnered with a performance motion lab and used a kind of 3d photography to map out the optimal movements involved in running. 3d motion capture works by putting retro reflective markers on the body and that allows us to calculate things like joint angles. Reporter engineers use that information to develop sophisticated computer code that can interpret signals coming from the lumo sensor which is built into a running shorts or running pants. The ceo says the result is a variety of measurements that can be tracked with a smartphone. These are all metrics that help you to learn how to be a more efficient runner and as you become a more efficient runner you are able to run farther and faster and also avoid injury. The measurements include things like ground contact, television rotation and the length of your stride. Readings are compared to the optimal range for each movement. Runners can even get coaching in the form of audio prompts beamed through their phones earbuds. It combines the powerful data of a running lab with the motivation of a coach all integrated into the waistband of your shorts. Reporter while putting in the miles its still up to you, the creators believe the sensor could help smooth the way, eric thomas, abc 7 news. Have a great day, we will see you back here at 4 00.
